Stone The Crow Tattoo has to be the best tattoo studio in the DC/Baltimore area. Customer service is always amazing. I won't go to any other studio. Christian Kurtis is an incredible artist. He's the only person who does my ink / five so far. I'm constantly complimented on my tattoos.

I just finished my first session here for a coverup tattoo and I cannot be more pleased with the direction of the work so far. So I just had to post a review now.I filled out an online form on their website and was contacted within the same day to schedule a consult. I got Tina because her schedule was the soonest that was available. I made an appointment to come in and was very excited to finally fix the job another artist from a different location did.Tina is the literally sweetest artist I've ever met. On the day of the consult, she took in all my ideas, actually spent time with me coming up with different elements, made creative suggestions, and we worked out several new ideas for the sleeve that I was very excited about. She asked if I wanted color, and I figured we'd have to go that route even though it's not really my style because it was a coverup. From there, she suggested interesting color combinations that I never even considered, but she was thorough in explaining why it would work out so I was definitely convinced. The thing I appreciated about her is that she did not force an idea or element on me like others have tried to do. Instead she asked for my wants first, asking in an open-ended kind of way, then offered suggestions to work around or with it. Her approach was kind and professional. This experience was miles different to the last one I had, which led to the shitty work being done that required this coverup in the first place. The vibes I got from Tina were really good so we scheduled for something the following week.Come the day of the first session, she showed me a design that was better than the ones I've milled through my mind. She showed me the colors she wanted to use and it looked amazing. I could tell she wanted to do what was best because she redid her stencil placement twice, decided to size up the design a bit to make it fit over the other tattoo, and kept the integrity of the new piece in place. We got set up, and she got to work right away. She is a very patient person with a bright and kind aura. She made sure I was comfortable and okay throughout the entire session. Her line work is VERY clean, she has a light hand, very detail oriented, and I'm still impressed that she was able to work on top of the other tattoo I had (the ink I'm getting covered up is mostly lines, no color, some detail elements). At the end of the first session, I just could not be happier. I can see exactly what she's trying to do and I cannot wait for the next session where she will color and shade the sleeve.Tina has such a kind soul, she is very good at her craft, is super creative, and I would recommend anyone to go at least get a consultation with her because she will surprise you with her personality, ideas, and portfolio.Also the receptionist there, I think her name is Caroline, was very nice too. She handed me a bottle water while I waited and was super professional with everything. I'm very pleased with how things are run at this establishment.

I came in to see Tina for a small piece on my ribs. Customer service was really great getting me in --- easy going and polite. I met with Tina briefly about the design I was looking for then scheduled about a week later to get it done. Tina was totally amazing during my session... she told me what to expect and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Totally down to earth and great personality.And the piece came out awesome!!

Pro's-Shop was clean and well organized-Excellent customer service with being friendly, prompt, and professional-Able to submit an online request and receive a quote within a few hours with availability (deposit is requested for booking)-Fair prices-Received emails and text messages regarding my appointment (I really had no excuse to miss it. LOL)-Eric was amazing! Worked with what I had... I lost my pooch, Stitch, a few months ago, and had a mold of his paw print. Eric was able to shrink it down a bit and gave me a little piece of him to carry with me always. He truly is an artist, made great suggestions, was open, and did a beautiful job (see below)Con's- I wish I had gotten this tattoo done earlierCan't wait for the next one! ;-) Totally worth it!

I got all of my tattoos here and so far it has been a great experience for me. Kevin did my very first tattoos for me and he was precise and I loved his work. He went over the details with me even though my first two were simple and small because he knew I was a bit nervous (well actually a lot!) and the pricing was fair. I've gotten a few more with Eric and my most recent one was the one in the picture attached. My biggest piece yet and I can't tell you how much I love it!!!Eric is quick, yet careful and precise and his sketches are spot on. It's only been a few days since I got this piece done and I've already been getting so many compliments from friends and family. The pricing was great and the fact that it was all so quick made it almost painless for me!! Love this place and will definitely be back once I have more ideas planned out!!

After a few years of deliberation I finally decided to get my first tattoo, and after many hours of research I knew Stone the Crow was the right place.
I cannot overstate how positive the experience was from start to finish. The place itself is exceptionally welcoming. The staff are extremely down to earth and sociable. They even let me pick the music we were all listening to for 2+ hours.
I knew before the session was over I would be a repeat customer, and I stand by that

Getting my 1st tattoo here was A M A Z I N G! I was nervous about speaking to the tattoo artist, and expressing what I wanted as well as the cost. I went to Christian via Instagram and then contacted him via the shop to directly get a consultation with him. The shop is amazing. Great vibes. We collaborated from the designs I saw online and made sure it was unique to me. The experience was soooo great that I got 2 more pieces from him! The shop is super clean and not stereotypically intimidating. His work is BEAST!!! Clean crisp line work, grey work and everything in between.... this is the man you want to see. I have spoken to the other artists and the receptionists; everyone is great and nice. By the way, Christian works on melanin skin (some artists in general outside of STC don't, so ask the shop or artist in advance; but chances are they will tell you up front). I will continue to go here and recommend/mention everyone that I speak to about this shop.... :)

(You have to put down a deposit even if you are coming back for a walk-in later the same day, which I found a little annoying - but then again I am also super sensitive to pressure tactics). Andy worked with Tina to finalize his geometric design and then it was off to the chair! She did a great job with all of the straight lines and little quirks of the design and was fun to talk to. She gave very clear care instructions and the tattoo is healing nicely!Shop minimum is $80. Andy's tattoo ran $120 for the fine and straight line-work. Also, FYI, their piercer will not do piercings for young children, so while it is best to get their piercings from a tattoo shop (rather than a mall kiosk), skip this shop for that. Would definitely come back here for my next tattoo as well!

I got my first tattoo here, and I only have positive things to say. I went in for a quote and consultation, and was able to schedule my appointment for the next day at a time convenient for me. Eric was my artist and he was FANTASTIC! I went in with a suggested drawing of a crawfish and he actually made it his own based on an anatomical diagram of the crustacean. My tattoo is so realistic yet exactly what I wanted. I am so impressed and excited! And the whole process was fast and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

So I have a tattoo from when I was 18 that was exactally what you would expect a dumb young 18 year old to get. I've put up with it for 17 years but decided it was finally time to cover it up. I do a little research and find Steve, the owner of stone the crow tattoo. I go in for my initial consultation back in July and impressed with the studio and the conversation I have with Steve. When I am ready to book the appointment I find I will be waiting 6 months to get started. Despite being a bit frustrated I realized that someone with a wait that long must be worth it. Fast forward to my first appointment and I am extremely pleased. The studio itself is warm and welcoming. The staff is kind and willing to get you a beverage while you wait. I get started and spend the next four hours chatting it up with Steve and the rest of the staff. 4 hours is a long time to sit but it went pretty quick and before I knew it the first phase of my cover up is complete. I end up going back 2 more times and all I can say is wow! Where did that piece of junk go and where did this masterpiece come from. I am beyond happy with my experience and would recommend this shop to anyone looking for quality work. Thanks Steve for the amazing job, can't wait to plan my next one!

The entire staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.I have been inked by Eric Bovenzi previously, and took my mom here to get her first tattoo. The whole staff was warm and welcoming, offering beverages and making sure we were ok while we waited. My mom was very nervous. While I have always known that Eric has a great bedside manner, it was a relief to have everyone there be so warm with my mom.Each artist has their own space that can be curtained off for privacy. While I haven't had work by anyone else, their instagram accounts show excellent work and they are all welcoming.

For my first tattoo with Christian, I scheduled a consultation and we talked about what I wanted and he provided excellent suggestions. When he showed me the completed drawing I was floored because he captured exactly what I wanted. My second tattoo was a coverup and it was also exactly what I wanted. We emailed back and forth prior to my appointment and the completed tattoo is amazing. I will definitely be going back.

The shop is very, very clean and everyone is so nice and professional. My experience here was very positive and I really appreciated that since I was getting my very first tattoo. I would HIGHLY recommend Kevin. He is very professional and truly listens to what you want. I got a transparent black and gray lotus flower on my bicep. I LOVE IT. It turned out so well and I am beyond grateful for such a great experience. I am definitely going back to Kevin if I ever decide to get more done.

The tattoo (although not healed yet) turned out well and looks like it was done by a professional (the straight lines are straight, for example). The shop is new and clean and the artists seem to take cleanliness seriously. All-in-all, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend Stone the Crow to anyone looking to get a tattoo done. It is maybe a little bit more pricey than other shops but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

I had work done by Eric Bovenzi in December and I'm just getting around to writing this.Eric is everything you want in a tattoo artist. You don't just want some guy who's going to ink the exact source material you brought in; you want a real artist who is going to collaborate with you and bring some ideas and that's what I got. It was awesome. Eric was just enthusiastically throwing ideas out like, "hey i was just thinking, you know what would look cool here?" That's exactly what I was hoping for and really, what everyone should want in an artist. Just an amazing experience and I'm definitely going back soon. Kevin Hayden is a talented artist. He has a gentle touch and I experienced insignificant pain for the most part. I recommend Kevin for a first-timer receiving a tattoo. Out of the four tattooist I've had, he by far is the most gentle and artistic and, while healing, I could barely discern the peeling/scabbing from dry skin. If I decide to add to or get another tattoo, even though I travel 1.5 to 2 hours each way to be tattooed at Stone the Crow, I will return Kevin.

First off, this shop is super clean. There's always someone cleaning and making sure the shop is spotless. You can tell they make sure everything is sanitized and the guys care about cross-contamination, especially being a tattoo shop. Super spacious shop and everyone has their own work station. When you walk in, the front desk is super helpful with your tattoo ideas and suggestions before you see an artist! They'll usually ask what you're looking for and recommend the right artist for you. Most tattooers and other shops can seem unwelcoming and speak to you as if you're wasting their time. This isn't the case here because everyone is so friendly! Extremely professional services from anyone you speak to here. They like to get to know you personally and set up a (free) consultation to make sure you get exactly what you want. Really accommodating to your needs and treat you well as you wait to get tattooed, offering drinks & snacks. All the artists are extremely talented and experienced. They care about your tattoo lasting throughout the years and making sure every part of your tattoo is perfect. I have had wonderful work by Christian and Kevin! Steve, the owner is amazing as well - as he is usually booked for months but definitely worth the wait.. the king for Japanese work!I will always come here to get tattooed in the DMV area. Definitely one of the finer shops in the state! Come here if you're looking for a great tattoo.. (or tattoos!) and wonderful artists.

His tattoos on me always came out beyond all expectations and way better than what I could have ever imagined. He is very detail oriented and a perfectionist; he'll make sure your tattoo is done right with proper placement. Give him free rein and you won't be disappointed. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Stone the Crow yesterday! I have been looking for an artist in the DC area for the past two years for my vintage silverware tattoo. Christian was recommended to me, and after my consult with him, I could barely wait to see what he put together. He is an incredibly accomplished artist, and the intricate details that he was able to achieve in this piece are absolutely amazing. I have the most beautiful piece of art on my arm, and I cannot thank him enough for making it happen. I learned that he has been creating art since he was a child, and you can truly see how passionate he is about his work. I can hardly wait to go back and get something else. In fact, my husband is getting tattooed by Christian in a few weeks. Stone the Crow overall is just great. They are professional, clean, and friendly. I highly recommend them if you are in the DC area (or not, because they are worth the drive or flight!).

I've been seeing Steve for a while and each time I have a new idea he takes it and runs. I'm so indecisive and I trust him enough that I can show him what I want (usually something I find on pinterest) and he makes it original. The creativity and eye for color he has is amazing! I've had the lotus for about a year and i STILL get compliments on the color as if it's brand new. Steve has not just been a great tattoo artist but just an all around awesome person/friend! I'm so excited for him with the new shop and am already planning my next tattoo!

I just finished my first session here for a coverup tattoo and I cannot be more pleased with the direction of the work so far. So I just had to post a review now.I filled out an online form on their website and was contacted within the same day to schedule a consult. I got Tina because her schedule was the soonest that was available. I made an appointment to come in and was very excited to finally fix the job another artist from a different location did.Tina is the literally sweetest artist I've ever met. On the day of the consult, she took in all my ideas, actually spent time with me coming up with different elements, made creative suggestions, and we worked out several new ideas for the sleeve that I was very excited about. She asked if I wanted color, and I figured we'd have to go that route even though it's not really my style because it was a coverup. From there, she suggested interesting color combinations that I never even considered, but she was thorough in explaining why it would work out so I was definitely convinced. The thing I appreciated about her is that she did not force an idea or element on me like others have tried to do. Instead she asked for my wants first, asking in an open-ended kind of way, then offered suggestions to work around or with it. Her approach was kind and professional. This experience was miles different to the last one I had, which led to the shitty work being done that required this coverup in the first place. The vibes I got from Tina were really good so we scheduled for something the following week.Come the day of the first session, she showed me a design that was better than the ones I've milled through my mind. She showed me the colors she wanted to use and it looked amazing. I could tell she wanted to do what was best because she redid her stencil placement twice, decided to size up the design a bit to make it fit over the other tattoo, and kept the integrity of the new piece in place. We got set up, and she got to work right away. She is a very patient person with a bright and kind aura. She made sure I was comfortable and okay throughout the entire session. Her line work is VERY clean, she has a light hand, very detail oriented, and I'm still impressed that she was able to work on top of the other tattoo I had (the ink I'm getting covered up is mostly lines, no color, some detail elements). At the end of the first session, I just could not be happier. I can see exactly what she's trying to do and I cannot wait for the next session where she will color and shade the sleeve.Tina has such a kind soul, she is very good at her craft, is super creative, and I would recommend anyone to go at least get a consultation with her because she will surprise you with her personality, ideas, and portfolio.Also the receptionist there, I think her name is Caroline, was very nice too. She handed me a bottle water while I waited and was super professional with everything. I'm very pleased with how things are run at this establishment.

LOL)-Eric was amazing! Worked with what I had... I lost my pooch, Stitch, a few months ago, and had a mold of his paw print. I got all of my tattoos here and so far it has been a great experience for me. Kevin did my very first tattoos for me and he was precise and I loved his work. He went over the details with me even though my first two were simple and small because he knew I was a bit nervous (well actually a lot!) and the pricing was fair. I've gotten a few more with Eric and my most recent one was the one in the picture attached. My biggest piece yet and I can't tell you how much I love it!!!Eric is quick, yet careful and precise and his sketches are spot on. It's only been a few days since I got this piece done and I've already been getting so many compliments from friends and family. The pricing was great and the fact that it was all so quick made it almost painless for me!! Love this place and will definitely be back once I have more ideas planned out!!

I cannot overstate how positive the experience was from start to finish. The place itself is exceptionally welcoming. The staff are extremely down to earth and sociable. They even let me pick the music we were all listening to for 2+ hours.
I knew before the session was over I would be a repeat customer, and I stand by that

This was my first tattoo and won't be my last! I got suggested to this place by a family friend and made an appointment with Steve 1-2 months in advance. He was extremely awesome and totally worth the wait. It was clean and professional and everything was well explained especially on how to take care of my first tattoo. If you need a tattoo and want the best of the best go here. If you are up for a little bit of a wait I would always suggest Steve!

Getting my 1st tattoo here was A M A Z I N G! I was nervous about speaking to the tattoo artist, and expressing what I wanted as well as the cost. I went to Christian via Instagram and then contacted him via the shop to directly get a consultation with him. The shop is amazing. Great vibes. We collaborated from the designs I saw online and made sure it was unique to me. The experience was soooo great that I got 2 more pieces from him! The shop is super clean and not stereotypically intimidating. His work is BEAST!!! Clean crisp line work, grey work and everything in between.... this is the man you want to see. I have spoken to the other artists and the receptionists; everyone is great and nice. By the way, Christian works on melanin skin (some artists in general outside of STC don't, so ask the shop or artist in advance; but chances are they will tell you up front). I will continue to go here and recommend/mention everyone that I speak to about this shop.... :)

I had been searching for a local artist with a specific style for a long time. I finally came across Christian on Instagram and knew he was my guy. My experience from sending my initial email to receiving the tattoo was really smooth. Christian is a really great guy and his work is phenomenal! I'd recommend him to anyone who is looking to get a very realistic tattoo.

(You have to put down a deposit even if you are coming back for a walk-in later the same day, which I found a little annoying - but then again I am also super sensitive to pressure tactics). Andy worked with Tina to finalize his geometric design and then it was off to the chair! She did a great job with all of the straight lines and little quirks of the design and was fun to talk to. She gave very clear care instructions and the tattoo is healing nicely!Shop minimum is $80. Andy's tattoo ran $120 for the fine and straight line-work. Also, FYI, their piercer will not do piercings for young children, so while it is best to get their piercings from a tattoo shop (rather than a mall kiosk), skip this shop for that. Would definitely come back here for my next tattoo as well!

I got my first tattoo here, and I only have positive things to say. I went in for a quote and consultation, and was able to schedule my appointment for the next day at a time convenient for me. Eric was my artist and he was FANTASTIC! I went in with a suggested drawing of a crawfish and he actually made it his own based on an anatomical diagram of the crustacean. My tattoo is so realistic yet exactly what I wanted. I am so impressed and excited! And the whole process was fast and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

So I have a tattoo from when I was 18 that was exactally what you would expect a dumb young 18 year old to get. I've put up with it for 17 years but decided it was finally time to cover it up. I do a little research and find Steve, the owner of stone the crow tattoo. I go in for my initial consultation back in July and impressed with the studio and the conversation I have with Steve. When I am ready to book the appointment I find I will be waiting 6 months to get started. Despite being a bit frustrated I realized that someone with a wait that long must be worth it. Fast forward to my first appointment and I am extremely pleased. The studio itself is warm and welcoming. The staff is kind and willing to get you a beverage while you wait. I get started and spend the next four hours chatting it up with Steve and the rest of the staff. 4 hours is a long time to sit but it went pretty quick and before I knew it the first phase of my cover up is complete. I end up going back 2 more times and all I can say is wow! Where did that piece of junk go and where did this masterpiece come from. I am beyond happy with my experience and would recommend this shop to anyone looking for quality work. Thanks Steve for the amazing job, can't wait to plan my next one!

The entire staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.I have been inked by Eric Bovenzi previously, and took my mom here to get her first tattoo. The whole staff was warm and welcoming, offering beverages and making sure we were ok while we waited. My mom was very nervous. While I have always known that Eric has a great bedside manner, it was a relief to have everyone there be so warm with my mom.Each artist has their own space that can be curtained off for privacy. While I haven't had work by anyone else, their instagram accounts show excellent work and they are all welcoming.

I am incredibly happy to have found this shop. The shop is clean and the staff are professional. I have gotten tattooed twice by Christian and both tattoos are amazing. For my first tattoo with Christian, I scheduled a consultation and we talked about what I wanted and he provided excellent suggestions. When he showed me the completed drawing I was floored because he captured exactly what I wanted. My second tattoo was a coverup and it was also exactly what I wanted. We emailed back and forth prior to my appointment and the completed tattoo is amazing. I will definitely be going back.

I had work done by Eric Bovenzi in December and I'm just getting around to writing this.Eric is everything you want in a tattoo artist. You don't just want some guy who's going to ink the exact source material you brought in; you want a real artist who is going to collaborate with you and bring some ideas and that's what I got. It was awesome. Eric was just enthusiastically throwing ideas out like, "hey i was just thinking, you know what would look cool here?" That's exactly what I was hoping for and really, what everyone should want in an artist. Just an amazing experience and I'm definitely going back soon. I seriously can't recommend Eric or StC highly enough.StC's prices were maybe a bit higher than I was used to, but you get what you pay for. it's going on your body, maybe you shouldn't look for discount work.Public service announcement: don't forget to tip your tattoo guy

Kevin Hayden is a talented artist. He has a gentle touch and I experienced insignificant pain for the most part. I recommend Kevin for a first-timer receiving a tattoo. Out of the four tattooist I've had, he by far is the most gentle and artistic and, while healing, I could barely discern the peeling/scabbing from dry skin. If I decide to add to or get another tattoo, even though I travel 1.5 to 2 hours each way to be tattooed at Stone the Crow, I will return Kevin.

If you had an experience like I did, then I do not need to explain the five stars. Steve is a consumate artist, combining his vision with client direction. My tattoo was a month wait for a consultation, six months before first session with four follow ups (three hours or more) and I could not be happier with the work, time, and care that went into into the process.

First off, this shop is super clean. There's always someone cleaning and making sure the shop is spotless. You can tell they make sure everything is sanitized and the guys care about cross-contamination, especially being a tattoo shop. Super spacious shop and everyone has their own work station. When you walk in, the front desk is super helpful with your tattoo ideas and suggestions before you see an artist! They'll usually ask what you're looking for and recommend the right artist for you. Most tattooers and other shops can seem unwelcoming and speak to you as if you're wasting their time. This isn't the case here because everyone is so friendly! Extremely professional services from anyone you speak to here. They like to get to know you personally and set up a (free) consultation to make sure you get exactly what you want. Really accommodating to your needs and treat you well as you wait to get tattooed, offering drinks & snacks. All the artists are extremely talented and experienced. They care about your tattoo lasting throughout the years and making sure every part of your tattoo is perfect. I have had wonderful work by Christian and Kevin! Steve, the owner is amazing as well - as he is usually booked for months but definitely worth the wait.. the king for Japanese work!I will always come here to get tattooed in the DMV area. Definitely one of the finer shops in the state! Come here if you're looking for a great tattoo.. (or tattoos!) and wonderful artists.

His tattoos on me always came out beyond all expectations and way better than what I could have ever imagined. He is very detail oriented and a perfectionist; he'll make sure your tattoo is done right with proper placement. Give him free rein and you won't be disappointed. I'm so happy for him that he has finally branched out on his own at this location. The new location is beautiful, welcoming, spacious, and very clean. The staff is friendly and courteous as well. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Stone the Crow yesterday! I have been looking for an artist in the DC area for the past two years for my vintage silverware tattoo. Christian was recommended to me, and after my consult with him, I could barely wait to see what he put together. He is an incredibly accomplished artist, and the intricate details that he was able to achieve in this piece are absolutely amazing. I have the most beautiful piece of art on my arm, and I cannot thank him enough for making it happen. I learned that he has been creating art since he was a child, and you can truly see how passionate he is about his work. I can hardly wait to go back and get something else. In fact, my husband is getting tattooed by Christian in a few weeks. Stone the Crow overall is just great. They are professional, clean, and friendly. I highly recommend them if you are in the DC area (or not, because they are worth the drive or flight!).

Steve is the only person I trust with my tattoos! He's done 3 of mine so far and each one I'm just as obsessed with! I've been seeing Steve for a while and each time I have a new idea he takes it and runs. I'm so indecisive and I trust him enough that I can show him what I want (usually something I find on pinterest) and he makes it original. The creativity and eye for color he has is amazing! I've had the lotus for about a year and i STILL get compliments on the color as if it's brand new. Steve has not just been a great tattoo artist but just an all around awesome person/friend! I'm so excited for him with the new shop and am already planning my next tattoo!

Fantastic place! The staff are friendly, and the shop is clean, open, and comfortable. They even offer refreshments! I've been tattooed before, but this was my first time here. Christian did an amazing job and made sure to explain everything he was doing so there wouldn't be any surprises. I had been looking for a place I could keep coming back to-- and I think I've found it in Stone the Crow!

What can I say about Steve, the owner? He's just artistically amazing, a genuine person, and has great taste in music. He's been tattooing me since 2009 and I keep coming back. His tattoos on me always came out beyond all expectations and way better than what I could have ever imagined. He is very detail oriented and a perfectionist; he'll make sure your tattoo is done right with proper placement. Give him free rein and you won't be disappointed. I'm so happy for him that he has finally branched out on his own at this location. The new location is beautiful, welcoming, spacious, and very clean. The staff is friendly and courteous as well. I'm looking forward for more tattoo work by Steve.

Definitely 5 stars. Love the shop.It's super spacious with a cool crew. Steve my artist/the owner is super cool with 20+ years of experience. I highly recommend this shop
