I got two beautiful piercings here today. The woman who did them was fantastic extremely professional. She explained everything she was doing in detail, showed me the way she sanitised everything, and told the aftercare plan great. I would recommend this place to the fullest extent. This is my go to tattoo shop now. The atmosphere doesn't feel like they're trying to make some money off of you.  They're friendly and reasonably priced. I have a couple of tattoo pieces done here and they are the only ones I trust to get tattooed in the Baltimore area.The first tattoo I ever got was done here with Joe. My second tat was at Saints and Sinners in Baltimore, it is crooked and blown out. I will never go any place other than Artworx to get tattooed after that horrible experience at the other place. Carroll did my other tattoo on my rib and he has a light hand, which made the experience the least painful it could be getting tattooed in that area. The only thing that I can say negative about this place is the location, it seems kind of sketch especially next door to a liquor store. There are a lot of weird people coming and out of the shop while you are getting tattooed. But the shop owners and owners are nice and the place is fairly priced for tattoos. Read Less

Seeing as how I am an active member of the yelp community, I am going to try and keep this as professional as possible, because I am livid.If anyone I knew wanted a piercing, this is the absolute last place I would recommend they go.  Bryan was our piercer and he had no interest in making me feel comfortable, making sure I was happy with my results, or hearing any of my input.  I realize I am not a piercer but I've had many piercings and I've never had someone disrespect me or make me feel so uneasy about modifying my body.  He didnt ask me to check and make sure the placement was ok, he didnt tell me what he was doing or when he was doing it.  Thank goodness I couldn't feel when he pierced me (nerve damage).  My belly button piercing is crooked and it was a repiercing. I asked him to go thru the original hole and he refused but told me it wouldnt look weird...ill post a pic and let you be the judge of that.  My personal opinion is that he didnt give a shit about how it was going to look and wanted to make quick cash before closing. I've been to many tattoo shops for a bunch of work and artwork is the best place I've gotten ink from ever. I had a horrible tattoo that needed to be covered up. Joe helped pick out my design and even let me switch colors around to make the tattoo that much nicer. The price was very reasonable, and no one can tell my tattoo is a cover up. I was supposed to have my first tattoo done at another shop. However, after traveling from TX discovered the other location had scheduled me at  a time when the artist I wanted wasn't around! My friend suggested I give Artworx a try. I was skeptical and ready to bail on getting a tattoo done. Then I met Shaun Christopher and he was everything I wanted in an artist. He listened. Came to the table with his own ideas. Recognized I was on a time crunch not being from the area. Didn't pressure me at all when I said I was just wanting to look at his portfolio of work. He completely understood that the artist I had put great time and care in picking turned out to be unavailable for a consult and that making a decision about another artist on the fly wasn't something I was really prepared for. He showed me his work. We talked about ideas, price and time it would take. I thought about it and he agreed to come in on Sunday (normally a closed day for the shop) and do my tattoo so I didn't leave Maryland without one! This was very impressive to me considering at the other location I arrived for my consult and the artist wasn't there and no one even offered to call him about my appointment. Often artists take a "don't treat me different because of my tattoos" attitude but then they themselves often treat a person without tattoos shitty. Not one single time did anyone in the Artworx shop treat me any such way! No one acted like "oh girl getting her first tattoo..pffft...whatever."  Instead each artist I encountered was nothing but positive about the tattoo and the experience. I have 4 tattoos from Artworx and my best friend has 5. I have gotten artwork done elsewhere but it's not the same. The artists there make you feel like you have been coming there for years the first time you walk in. There artwork is amazing and it will keep you wanting to come back for more. The owners, Joe & Carroll, have both won awards for their work. Just recently, they both won awards for back pieces they have done at the 2010 Baltimore Tattoo Convention. It would be a shame not to at least go and check out the shop and the work that they all do. Read Less
