Very "meh." I came in for a few pieces of jewelry last week and was very underwhelmed by the level of customer service exhibited by (who I believe to be) the owner. He Wasn't rude by any stretch but certainly wasn't helpful either. If you're looking for quality work (not necessarily the cheapest price), these guys are amazing. My wife had an Asian inspired koi piece that she had done a few years ago that she just wasn't happy with, and one of their artist, Dio, redid the entire thing and it looks amazing. The fish looked like a yellow flounder with down's syndrome, and it's now a recognizable bright orange koi. He fixed a lotus flower and a bunch of other stuff too while he was at it. His original stuff is probably better. Their prices are good for the quality of the work, and the garage vibe of the place is really cool. We will definitely be repeat customers, and if I ever decide what I want to get done these are definitely the guys I will go to. Can't recommend them highly enough. Read Less

My experience at Big City Body Art centered around Dave (aka "Mongo").  He was so pleasant, patient, kind, and reasonable with me. I had my lobes (3) and my helixes (4) pierced. He advised me and guided me through my multi-piercing journey by educating me and answering all of my piercing questions, calming me with entertaining stories, being attentive and checking in with me periodically to make sure I was ok, and equipping me with a "stress breast" to squeeze for my pain.  I appreciated his professionalism and enjoyed his overall energy. I went in on a Sunday afternoon, just to ask some questions about getting my nose pierced, and to check out the building to make sure it looked clean, etc. Justin put my mind at ease, and before I knew it, I had a nose ring...and I LOVE it! Hannah talked me through it and kept me distracted while Justin got everything ready, to help keep my nerves at bay. Everyone there is super-nice, incredibly talented, and very professional. I went to get my 1st tattoo here from Justin Helms. I've known him for a lil bit, he's done a few pieces for a couple of my brothers. He is very talented. He gave me exactly me what I wanted and took great care of me. The shop has an awesome work family. The minute I got there the receptionist started great conversation with me and even let me eat one of her mozzarella sticks lol. I suffer from real bad migraines. I was walking around with the worst one yet for 3 days. I walked into Big City Body Art after I did my research on piercing artists. When I tell you when you walk in ,you are instantly welcomed like your family! Dave explained EVERYTHING to me the whole time! I have a lot of tattoos but piercings I'm terrified! Dave has patience of a nun. He was AWESOME! He even explained what the piercing what is suppose to do to relieve the pain and why. Went to get my first tattoo here, and it was an amazing experience!! Everybody is friendly and makes you feel comfortable from start to finish. They explain what works and what doesn't and how your piece will turn out. They're there to do great work and they take their time. Called about nose piercings and directions after reading the reviews on Yelp! The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful (sorry I didn't catch his name) and guided me through the policies. Justin came out and greeted me about ten minutes later! Justin is fantastic! I was pierced before I could get feel any pain and it was great...definitely coming back! About a year ago I suffered from chronic migraines. I was determined to do anything to get rid of them. When I walked in I was scared out of my mind about the piercings and was under the impression they would hurt. Dave was great he walked me through it and step by step told me what he was doing. To clarify it didn't hurt at all. To this day it was the best decision I have made. I have had only 2 full blown migraines in a year. Before the piercings I had them daily and all day. I decided to go in on New Years Eve & get a tattoo I've wanted for quite a while now. I got there and told (I'm pretty sure it's the owner) what I wanted. He knew exactly what it was (the Anti-Possession Symbol from the show Supernatural), he was very nice and after doing the paperwork (if you're planning on getting a tattoo at a reputable place such as this, BRING YOUR ID!) I was taken to Justin's chair. It took about an hour, it had been a while since I had gotten a tattoo & of course I was nervous but I couldn't be more pleased with the work! They carry a product called Tatu-Derm, which they put over your new tattoo for 48 hours & remove it, no scabbing, peeling, basically taking 2 weeks off the healing process. I've cared for it as directed & it looks amazing. If they recommend it for your tattoo, get it. Totally worth it! I'm definitely going back for at least 3 or 4 tattoos I have planned. A small, little shop off of Bowie, but they were great! The only place I could find that would pierce my three month old (properly!). They made sure my daughter was vaccinated and fed before they would do anything. I signed a waiver and we went right on back with Justin. He cleaned her up (as I held her), marked her ears, and went right to it. He used a needle. Very precise and quick! We paid $35 and walked in and out after 30 minutes at most. I know her ears were done the right way (unlike Claire's or Piercing Pagoda), so I highly recommend them! Read Less
