This is such a nice place and everyone was so friendly. I got a belly button piercing here and I was so scared but the guy who did it helped me a lot and was so nice about it! He made me way more relaxed about getting it and I love it it came out perfectly. I have been taking care of it with H2O spray that they offer in the store and I have no problems. Accompanied my daughter who was getting her nose pierced. Asked about my pierced ear lobes as they seemed to be closing up. I couldn't get ANY earrings in! Shane asked me some questions, examined the lobes and went to work with a special tool. Before I knew it, he was done and the shiny studs were in! Not only did he give me instructions for taking care of the lobes but said to return if I had trouble putting in new jewelry. I went in just last night, a Wednesday, for a walk-in tattoo. On weekdays, they close at 9:00PM, but John stayed working on my tattoo for a full hour after closing, almost 4 hours total. This was my first ever tattoo by the way, and John is an amazing artist! He actually did my wife's tattoo the week before. I thought the lines and colors looked really smooth, so I came back after choosing a very complex design because he seemed really skilled. Afterwards, I was left with an amazing shoulder tattoo (again my first ever)!John also provides great company as he works. My wife and I talked with him on and off during the session, and it honestly didn't feel like I had been sitting for 4 hours with needles stabbing me every few seconds. He is very detail-oriented and was more than capable of dealing with the complex design and adding shading and blended colors. He also applies Saniderm to the tattoo afterwards, which is like hospital plastic wrap/cover for wounds, and provides detailed instructions on tattoo care. I'm not sure about the other artists at Best of Time or their piercing services as this is my first time with them. I do highly recommend John though!In my opinion, the pricing is very good. We went to another tattoo shop to price my wife's tattoo, and they were much more expensive. So I was confident that the price that John gave was appropriate. In fact, it was under because of the extra time required on the tattoo. I really appreciate the extra effort. Ive never heard of Best Of Time or Big John before coming across reviews on facebook. I've been wanting my nipples pierced for years and finally (impulsively) decided it was time. I looked at shops in the area and most were not open on Monday or did not offer a piercer on Mondays. I found Best Of Time, read reviews, and seriously, the reviews are true. I was not a nervous wreck going in but definitely weary and Big John made me feel as comfortable and as eased as possible. I went in with no appointment other than calling in the morning to see if they were available for a walk in tattoo. I already have 8 tattoos from various shops around Baltimore county/city. The guy Shane who did my tattoo took two pieces of artwork and combined aspects of both to make it perfect. It was a realistic black lines & shading image of a mountain scene. Needles freak me out. Always have, even after getting two tattoos. I went in to get my nipples pierced, was suuuuuuper nervous. John was very sweet, knowledgeable, and talked me through my nerves. He showed me placement and had me double check I liked everything before he pierced. Quick, two seconds of holy shit, and then just a bad sunburn ache. My hubby and I had been saying for years that we were going to get a tattoo designed with the infinity symbol and our name.  We had gone in to Best of Time Tattoos and priced it about two years ago.  We went back in like a year later and were going to get the tattoo done. There was a huge line that day so we walked out.  That brings us to our most recent visit.  We went in and the staff were in the back room.  To be fair to them, I think it is a family business and I think the back room (which does have a window) is where they wait in their downtime.They came out promptly.  We told them our idea.  The front desk guy took it back to the tattoo artist who sketched out a real design and gave us a price.  The plus is that the price was the same as it was two years ago...so I give them kudos for consistency.So we went ahead and took the plunge...(this was my first tattoo).I was a little nervous and Tony does not have the best "table side" manner.  He is not mean...he just has a dry sense of humor that I think either you get it or you don't.  He did a great job...I just wish that I had gotten the tattoo a little smaller.  They told me they did not advise going smaller than what I got.I was impressed by how clean the work room was.  I was also impressed by the measures Tony took to make sure the environment was sterile prior to starting my tattoo.He completed both of our tattoos in just a little over an hour.  He did a great job...but we realized that when we got home...he did not fully connect the infinity symbol.  So our infinity symbol which means unending actually ends.  Trying to decide if we are going to go back...for just  a dot of ink. I came here to get my tragus pierced (that little protruding skin area located in the middle of your ear). I remember when it was names "Bear's Den" and located across the road on 40 west, but now it has moved to the other side of the road on the Ingleside Ave. side and has been renamed. There was ample parking outside and the lady receptionist was pleasant.  I inquired about pricing and after speaking with a gentleman with head to toe tats and gauges in his ears, decided to have the piercing done. He was very thorough in his explanation of how the procedure would be performed and how to care for the piercing. They had after care products for sale, which l purchased as well. The lobby area was clean and had a TV for viewing along with sample tattoos for you to peruse. I overheard a young man who wanted a tat of an image that he had on his phone and the owner told him to send it to him via phone so that he could download it and he did.The piercing was painless. When it was my time for the piercing, l was escorted in the back to a clean room. I was asked if l preferred a hoop or bar. I went with the bar. He opened a drawer full of hoops and bar piercings that were sealed in tiny cellophane bags for sterility. He put on his plastic gloves, clean my area that was getting pierced and BAM! it was done in less than a minute! He went over my care instructions again, thanked me for coming and escorted me on my merry way!I took a star off because my wait was around  45 minutes,  which wasn't bad given the three other piercings that were ahead of me, but another person walked in as a followup to a piercing they had previously done and was escorted back before  me and when l inquired about that, seems as if they had forgotten about me, but they graciuosly apologized and ushered me back next.  They accept cash and credit cards. Bear has done all of my work and he is just the nice sweetest guy. He takes pride in his work and treats every tattoo he does as a collaboration between artist and client. I have been going to him for over 10 years and I have NEVER seen him rush through a tattoo to get to the next client. The atmoshpere in the shop is friendly and welcoming. Everytime I have work done I leave the shop with a stack of business cards to pass out because people so often stop me and ask where I had my fairy's done. In life you get what you pay for so if you are looking for a tattoo on the cheap you are probaly going to get shoddy workmanship and MERSA to boot. I had heard a lot of good things about the studio so I decided to stop in get my first tattoo priced there. Not only did it take them a good while to even look at me once I walked in the door it took the guy another 10 minutes to even come back from the back room with a price (I was the only other person there as well!). I want to get a small 4 leaf clover, and apparently a 1 1/2 inch tattoo on your ribs is ""too small"" from what I heard them saying in the back. Of course this ""too small"" tattoo would have cost me $100 there. If you are concerned about quality I have heard they are great, but if you want a welcoming experience that isn't going to be rediculously priced I'd say try somewhere else. Having had my lip pierced twice beforehand, I was used to disappointment. My attitude changed however, when I turned up at Bear's Den. The staff was incredibly friendly, and made me feel extremely comfortable. Even walking into the studio, you can see how clean and well maintained everything is. The man who pierced me thoroughly cleaned my lip beforehand, and numbed me slightly as well. He was very accomadating when I winced at the pain, and joked saying i could pinch him back if I pleased. He was quick, and precise. In several weeks, my piercing healed up, and is exactly where it should be; I am more than happy with my piercing now, and plan to return to Bear's Den in the future.
