Called this tattoo shop to see if they were taking walk ins on a Wednesday afternoon - The man over the phone said come on in! The shop is located on a sketchy street but once upstairs inside of the shop it is spacious and clean. I was lucky enough to find street parking around the corner. This is a cash only establishment and their is an ATM outside if you need to withdraw. My friend and I were getting small tattoos on our wrist and the prices were kind of steep - granted we did just walk in and we are in downtown Baltimore, so kind of expected....When Danny (tattoo artist ) was about to start, a piercing appointment came in so he got that done right away. His technique was good, he was very clean, using new needles and gloves - it took less then ten minutes for two of my mini tattoos. I was charged $80. Went in to get a tragus piercing and the guy who did it messed it up so bad that I had to take it out that same night. It was coming out of the side of my ear, nowhere near where he put the dot indicating where he'd put it. I'm also fairly certain I was scammed, as I bought a groupon which promised that the service would be 45% off and then was still charged 52 dollars for the piercing. Unless they're charging 75 dollars for a tragus piercing, I'm assuming I was still charged full price if not more for a piercing I had to remove THAT NIGHT due to how simply wrong it was. This place is such a great place to come to for a tattoo!! Especially for your first! I was on a girls weekend trip this weekend and we went there for my first tattoo!! This place and Danny were great I called right before they closed and Danny stayed open to wait for us. I went with a friend and I got my nose pierced I was a little nervous (1st time) he was cool. Just got second earlobe piercings as well as a cartilage piercing here, and love both! Rampage is super nice, and she definitely wants what's best for you. She'll give you replacement parts for earrings if you lose them in the following two weeks, help you with future maintenance, and even said she'd video chat you if you're concerned about anything! She's definitely a perfectionist, and she works hard to make everything symmetrical. All in all, fantastic experience here, and highly recommend Rampage! I got my septum and nipple pierced at Tattoo Charlie's today and was super impressed with the whole experience. The front desk guy was super nice and friendly as was my piercer. My piercer made me feel comfortable with the whole process, was patient with answering my questions, and kept me laughing with his jokes. Not an easy feat while you're shoving a needle through me! :) I took advantage of their buy one piercing get one free deal which they're doing every day in October (2017) and every Wednesday the rest of the year if I'm not mistaken. Without that deal the septum piercing would have cost $50 and the nipple piercing would have been $45 but I only paid $50 for both plus tip. Just be aware that the BOGO deal is not compatible with the groupon they currently have available so you'll have to pick one or the other. I highly recommend them, great experience! Read Less

Im going to bluntly list what was wrong with this experience: 1. The artist was 6 hrs late to the appointment and didn't keep us updated about his ETA. This ended up in us waiting around all day. I was going to go to the shop and get my money back which I'd put down the day before, but I was leaving the city in two days and he had done my friends tattoo which looked good so I figured although it sucked we had to wait, at least we'd get good tattoos. Mind you these were extremely meaningful tattoos between best friends and he knew that. 2. He lied about his experience as an artist. He stated he "invented watercolor tattooing" and was one of the guys to found the piercing industry. He also lied about tattoo artists he knew. I have had work done by two people multiple times in Philly and in Maine. He claimed he knew both these artist from tattoo conventions. I asked both artist later and they both said they had never heard of him. 3. He bought and offered me alcohol during the tattoo as repayment for being late. Tequila to be exact. I didn't know you weren't supposed to drink before/during a tattoo which perhaps is dumb but there was a tattoo artist right there who DIDN'T tell me not to do it and drank with me. Later I found out this could effect pigment retention. My tattoo did get messed up but I don't know if that is because of the alcohol. I made a five hr drive home shortly after getting it and that may have messed it up so I take responsibility for that. 4. Despite all this strange activity none of the other staff did anything. They actually endorsed his lies. And yes I know, I'm too trusting, not well educated about tattoo care, and naive but the responsibility is STILL on the professional to be a professional. My fuck ups are my own. I wasn't the one AT WORK. 5. Everyone smokes inside the shop after closing and I was still there getting a tattoo. I smoked cigarettes too! Once again just believing that  if this was a bad thing to be doing, we wouldn't be doing it. 6. The tattoo took 8 hrs, twice as long as it should have due to excessive breaks. I didn't say anything about this because I'm shy and also just try to be tolerant of others but when all of these factors are viewed together...it's a sad sight. I feel taken advantage of and pretty stupid. I'll be much more wary of tattoo artist now and do much more research about what is okay and what isn't. I want to blame myself for this outcome because I should have just left. I should have just gotten my money back after having to wait 6 hrs. But all this behavior was just so backwards and unprofessional that I feel it needs to be called out. Tattoo artist under no circumstances, no matter how dimwitted the client is, should ever behave like this. Tattoo artist should educate their clients about proper care! Read Less

Oh man, I went in for piercings about a week ago. I can't say enough amazing things about Rampage during this process. I was pretty nervous when I arrived initially..however, she quickly put me at ease! Rampage is skilled in her profession and very knowledgeable. She didn't guarantee that it wouldn't hurt, but she did promise to be quick about it, lol! So, this place is located in a very sketchy area. The shop itself is also rough around the edges. However, fear not! Rampage is awesome. She is super energetic, confident, and most importantly SKILLED. My septum piercing was quick and almost painless. I had a Groupon for a piercing so I got my belly button re-pierced. Rampage did a great job! I liked that she did my piercing while I was standing up instead of laying down because laying down might make the piercing crooked (which is what happened to me the first time). I had the worst experience here at Tattoo Charlie's and would not come here again. I discovered this place through groupon and I spoke to the owner, who was extremely friendly and accommodating. He recommended me the "buy one get on free piercing deal," which is essentially the same thing as buying a groupon deal and I could go in either on Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday. The only thing I had to do was call in to ensure the piercer was working that day. I would first like to address that as soon as I walked through the door, I got shushed by one of the male employees with short brown curly hair because of his sleeping baby...I respect him as a parent and his newborn child, but I just would like to say how it was extremely unprofessional to allow a newborn to be in such an unhealthy environment. I would at least hope they have a room where his daughter can rest well in and can be separated from their work. I have read many reviews about Rampage and she seemed friendly. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that it wasn't her day when I went in because I did not feel any of that. I felt a lot of negativity in the atmosphere after being shushed when I walked in. I understand if she has a specific day (Wednesday) for the "buy one get one free" deal, but if there was a miscommunication between the owner and her such as the one we had, then it would only be fair to at least honor the offer or make an exception just once for a new customer (if she wants customer satisfaction). What I did not understand was, even if she did not honor the deal and I came back on a Wednesday, she would still be making the same amount! She refused to honor that offer, but offered me a deal that was only an extra $5. I agreed to paying extra, but when I wanted to confirm if she accepts debit/credit, she gave me a hard time for my choice of payment... With the atmosphere already being intense, I felt even more uncomfortable and decided to change my mind. Meanwhile, she went into the backroom to make a copy of my license and I quickly asked the male employee to pass along the message so she does not have to do any unnecessary work. Instead, he just asked me to wait while I was already refrained from attempting to get her attention because of their sleeping baby... When she came out and I told her, she gave me another hard time and said "Really? You made me do all that and you're going to change your mind?" Wow. I was extremely appalled for the constant blaming, which is one of the many reasons for why I changed my mind. I never wanted my experience to have happened the way it did at Tattoo Charlie, but if it wasn't meant to be, then it wasn't meant to be. Luckily, my other friend, who was interested in getting piercings from her, could not make it to the shop with me. Went in wIth husband to get 10yr anniversary tattoo,  husband was getting a key with forever & I was getting the lock wIth ALWAYS both dine by BLAZE CLARK! I gave him 3 pix & an email of what we wanted. 1st he spells ALWAYS wrong (alaways), then tried to fix with a janky flower over the extra 'a' ! Then after i tell him how to spell always, the guy with dreads comes over to "fix" it &  misspells it AGAIN  (allways) . .then when I freak out. ..I get yelled at & guy with dreads starts making jokes like "I cant spell thats why I tattoo " & tells me "calm down mistakes happen " Then he tells me 2 "just leave & when it heals come back&we'll do a cover up"...WHAT! SERIOUSLY, so u want me 2 leave with a 1/2 finished, jacked up tattoo ONLY 2 come back 2 the same place that messed up TWICE! YEA RIGHT!! I then get a refund only 2 be told that "your lucky cuz we normally don't give refunds " R U KIDDING ME?  so u normally misspell 1st grade level word's? WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Read Less

I got my eyebrow pierced and my friend got their nipples pierced. We were walk ins and were in and out in an hour. Rampage was super cool and friendly. The prices were reasonable, $40 for the eyebrow and $80 for both nipples plus tip. Rampage was super nice and did a great job. She marked the placement with a small dot before she put the needle through.  When she was done you could see the outline of that dot around the piercing. Perfectly lined up! The shop was very clean and we watched Rampage sanitize the room and unpack the needles. I am taking my partner back here soon and would highly recommend this place for piercings. The only down side was that the music was pretty loud and fast paced, so if you have sensory issues/noise sensitivity maybe make an appointment? Jesse did my nose piercing today and I was BEYOND happy how my entire experience turned out. I was nervous but still remembered to disclose my allergies and be aware of sterilization techniques and Jesse did them all. He is very knowledgable, clean, personable and charismatic. This is Downtown Baltimore! This is a historic tattoo shop. The shop is up a really cool staircase. Very clean, very friendly environment. There is plenty of flash on the wall, but I prefer the custom work of Matt Lauter. Just tell him your idea, he will draw it. I've had lots of work done by Matt, and am looking forward to my next piece. They also have excellent piercing. My wife got pierced & tattooed the same day. One step into Tattoo Charlie's can harken you back to a time when sailors would walk up from the harbor for some fresh ink. I took a belly piercing that I got a year ago. I felt like it closed up so I stopped into Charlie's a couple hours before work to see what was going on. Rampage was a godsend. She quickly checked out my stomach and set me up with a new belly ring at a low price. Since it was Wednesday, BoGo. I asked about if the special was for nipple piercings as well. She hooked me up! For a nice deal she sent me on my way with a new set of nip piercings. They are awesome. She was very helpful and fast! The needle didn't hurt. I have MANY tattoos and this by far is the worst one I have ever received. The ink according to another artist I went to spread from it possibly being done "too deep" and now this artist has to try and fix it for me which isn't going to be easy since it is several butterflies and each one of them now have a grey shading around all of them...go some where else!!! Worst 232.00 ever spent. I have had 2 sittings and have 1 more left to take care of the "blow out" caused by the artist going too deep. Solution, put colored shading around "blow out" around all butterflies and putting more color around whole tattoo. Again..DO NOT go here! Read Less
