Mt. Vernon Body Art is a comfortable and inviting tattoo shop. The location is awesome and there is parking across the street to accommodate clients (you have to pay but it is well worth it considering many city locations requirement permits). The artwork in the shop is eclectic and unique. All of the staff is courteous, respectful and helpful. While I was getting my tattoo, I was able to engage in conversation with everyone and found the staff easily relatable. Everyone communicated openly and enjoyed the company. I got my tattoo done by Anastasia Gnau. I couldn’t be happier! From the first time I met her during a consult, I knew she was going to be the right artist for me. She truly dedicated herself to pleasing her clients. She is incredibly friendly and willing to answer any questions or concerns. While tattooing, she checked in multiple times to make sure I was okay, and kept me informed throughout the entire peocess. She has a very light and delicate hand, and her style of tattooing is fascinating to watch. I love that she doesn’t get wrapped up in the politics of the tattooing world. I got a conch piercing done here yesterday. The place was great and very clean, the staff was very friendly. Matt, the piercer, was very friendly and professional and talked me me Through everything, from the jewelry selection, to the piercing process, and to the aftercare. Really great experience. I didn’t get a tattoo, but i did char with the tattoo artists, Clay, for a bit while I was waiting for the customer before me to finish her piercing appointment and he was also friendly and cool. It was. Aclean and laidback environment, a great experience overall. And hey do use an autoclave to make sure all the piercing equipment is clean and sterile, so that’s always a plus. Just got my conch pierced recently by Matt. Quick, easy, and most importantly clean! This shop uses needles, not guns. The piercing is 40 dollars plus the cost of your choice of jewelry. They have a great selection and can special order pieces. I got mine done with a gem cluster piece that was anodized rose gold. It is gorgeous and I keep looking at it in the mirror. I paid $93 for it. But its worth the cost for a piece you plan on having with you for awhile. You get what you paid for. I will come back!! Read Less

Went here to get my nose ring a little over a month ago and I couldn't have had a better experience! Matt is a super professional, helpful and rad guy. I recently got my first tattoo with Clay and it was an amazing experience! I did a lot of research before choosing Mount Vernon Body Art Tattoo and Piercing as the shop for me. When I went in for my free consultation The first thing I noticed was how nice and clean his studio was and then I was greeted by Clay and I told him that I was there for a tattoo because my dog that meant the world to me had recently passed and I was looking for a way to honor him. Clay immediately said he was sorry for my loss and asked to see a picture of my pup which made me feel like I wasn't just a customer which is a great feeling when you're nervous and going in for your first tattoo. We talked about where I wanted the placement of it and how big I wanted it and after I was satisfied I left with an appointment date! When I came in for my appointment Clay remembered everything we had talked about previously and he kept a conversation with me the entire time I was being tattooed which helped with the process! Awesome experience. Clean and friendly shop. I was told for years I couldn’t get a hoop for my nose ring because it was too far back. Long story short I let my hole close up or at least I thought I did. Not only did Matt get my hole open and avoided me the pain and cost of a new nose piercing but I got my hoop ring! Everything was sterile and he changed his gloves multiple times~ I'm an RN, and I was very satisfied with how he did the whole procedure. He was VERY thorough with the piercing placement too (that took the most time!). Completely recommend without hesitation to anyone who needs a piercing :) Update (7/18) - had a piercing "emergency/reaction" this weekend and Matt went out of his way to help me! The shop contacted him and he came in on his time off to change my piercings. Again, I'm blown away by amazing customer service :D Read Less

Got a septum piercing by Mike and it was a great experience! Everyone was super nice, the place is clean and professional, and the prices are great! Loved that I was able to customize the color of the jewelry and Mike even helped make my previous nostril piercings fit my nose better. Definitely recommend for piercings! Read Less

Clay is by far the best tattoo artist I have ever had the pleasure to get a tattoo from. His shop is very clean and run very professionally. I have gotten 2 tattoos at Mt. Vernon Body Art, so far, and I cannot wait to keep working on the superhero sleeve that is in progress. I've been working with Clay on a two part series for my biceps. I couldn't be happier with the first piece and really looking forward to the second. I tend to like to move from artist to artist every few pieces just to have a diversity of styles, but I'm impressed enough that I may just end up winding these into whole sleeves done by him. I gave him pretty free license with design and despite my sort of scatter shot of suggestions he really pulled it into something beautiful. The shop is in a shopping center in Mt. Vernon so parking is easy. His hourly rate is really reasonable compared to most places in Baltimore. Read Less
