I always wanted to get a tattoo but was unsure about where to get it from in Baltimore. When you chose someone to pour this form of art on your skin, you gotta make sure that the tattoo artist you are choosing is trustworthy and does an amazing work! Jackie Randall is that one person here in the entire Baltimore. She beautiful inked this Phoenix on my back with so much precision, but it did not even hurt that much! She explained every details of what she was doing at every step , starting from unpacking the brand new sterile needle, the sterility methods she uses to keep the tools sterile, to starting to ink my back. She is an amazing person and has a lifetime of experience in tattooing and with people. I loved how she kept me engaged telling me stories and talking to my friend who was accompanying me . I was recommended to Jacki by my friend for my first tattoo. This first experience was amazing. She helped me develop what I wanted for the tattoo and the placement of it. During the whole process she checked to see how I was doing and if I was in too much pain. She was helpful in bouncing around ideas and was patient with my requests that wouldn't work (she explained why and we came up with other ideas that would work). I warned her that when we got to the actual tattooing I was likely to turn green on her, which I did, but she helped me power through it, all the while telling us some pretty damn funny stories (she is well traveled and has a lot of them!) and put in some good tunes (The Dead Can Dance, King Crimson, Bowie, etc). Evidence of her talent cover the shop walls and she has impeccable standards for keeping the shop and the equipment CLEAN and STERILE!! When you sit in her chair you get her full and undivided attention. She takes her craft seriously, which is refreshing in the glut of wanna be tattoo artists out there who I wouldn't trust with my art of my physical health. By the time I left I was a little sad because I felt I was leaving a new friend. My first tattoo...so awesome. She took a pic of someone else's tattoo and, using just a ballpoint pen, turned it into an original piece of artwork that is now perfectly replicated on my shoulder. Delicate touch. Highly recommend. Not just for the artwork which is top-notch, but for all the cool information she will regale you with, along with super movie and music recommendations. This is a wonderful place in old, old Baltimore. Tucked away in the old crabhouse area on the edge of historic "Pigtown", it's worth seeking out. Ms. Randall is an real artist and her work reflects that. You will never have anyone ask "what's that" unless they are too drunk to focus! She has a nice light hand, unlike some of the tattooers I've had in the past. The shop is controlled so you won't have annoying interruptions and disturbances. No one is standing around posing or taking up space. There wouldn't be room anyway! We are thrilled with our beautiful tattoos. The experience was actually very nice, not at all what we expected based on previous tattoos we got elsewhere. We'll be definitely be coming back and recommending her to everybody we know. My wife and I got tattoos from Jacki in April. Mine is the Don't Tread on Me shown on the page and my wife got Let it Be on her wrist. She was terrific to work with and is extremely knowledgeable in her profession. Don't plan on being "in and out" as Jacki loves talking with her clients in order to get to know them and also shares lots of cool stories. She made us feel very comfortable and at home in her shop. It was my mother's first tattoo, yes at 60 she decided she wanted to become apart of the tattooed club. It was important to me that my mom's first experience wasn't like mine, which felt cold and rushed. My mom's request ( a ❤️) was simple and probably mundane for most tattoo artists but Jacki made it seem special (but of course it was). Jacki made it her business to make my mother at ease. Jacki is a character! After getting tattooed by her It took me over ten years before I could trust someone to finish up my chest piece. I've been getting tattoos for over 15 years and Jacki schooled me in proper tattooer hygiene when I was new to getting tattoos. Her famous words " If you don't see a tattooer unwrap everything in front of you and explain what is going on...don't walk...RUN out of there!" Luckily Oregon is really strict on pathogen training for tattooers and her advice has kept me safe all these years! Jacki does NOT have a heavy hand. I've been tattooed by mostly men and I know what it's like to have an artist drill that ink into your skin. This is why I have trust issues, tattoos don't need to hurt more than what is necessary for the skin to hold ink. My skin sucks in pigment and I don't bleed much there's no need to make hamburger. I'm quite pleased to have had Jacki give me my tattoos on my chest and wrists. They still look great after all these years. Read Less

I have been worked on by 8 different tattooists and the single artist that is "Charm City Tattoo", Jacki Randall, is one who I would recommend wholeheartedly above the rest. Making an appointment with Jacki provides an experience in body art that takes place in a personal setting, you aren't one of five bozos getting inked by five other bozos in front of a television, which is too common an experience for people looking to get (especially) their first tattoo.She is an artist of many facets i.e. painter, cartoonist, musician, and she is very far from what would be a disappointing tattooist - basically, she has been an artist for much longer than only tattooing, and it shows in the quality of her tattoos. I have gotten 4 tattoos from Jacki and I will keep coming back to her for work. I'm so glad I chose Jacki to do my first (and so far only) tattoo!  She made the experience memorable for me in a good way.  I had wanted to get a tattoo in memory of my grandfather who had recently passed away.  I found Jacki after looking up Baltimore tattoo artists online, and I emailed her about prices, etc.  She was extremely prompt in responding to me, and we had a consultation of sorts over the phone.  Jacki made me feel at ease, and I trusted her from our initial phone conversation.  The price she quoted me was very fair, so I scheduled an appointment.The shop is kind of small but clean and well maintained.  We discussed the tattoo concept again, and it was like Jacki could read my mind!  The design she drew up was perfect!  Before she got to work, she explained the sterilization process, and showed me all the needles, etc.  Honestly I didn't pay that much attention because once I saw the needles I started to feel faint (lol) but I appreciated her professionalism, thoroughness, and her strict adherence to safety standards.The tattoo did hurt, but Jacki is hilarious so I was able to distract myself somewhat.  Plus my mom had come with me; she and Jacki hit it off and I was amused by their interactions.    The end result was amazing.  I followed Jacki's aftercare advice, and I had no problems while my tattoo was healing.  I haven't had any problems period.  I love my tattoo, and I show it off whenever I can.  I'm so grateful to Jacki for doing such a beautiful piece of art in memory of my grandfather.  Like a previous reviewer said, it's better than I could have possibly imagined.  I highly recommend her, and I will be returning once I decide what I want as a second (and maybe third) tattoo. It isn't drawn out like the design I originally brought to her, and that's because, before anything, we sat down first just to talk about what's doable. She explained how tattoos age, and she adapted my design. It gave me something to think about before committing to my third tattoo ...She followed up with me in the days ahead, and when the creative juices finally flowed and I drew my own design, I called Jacki back, we set up an appointment that same evening, and by bedtime, I had a new pet on my left shoulder: Inky!Jacki was straightforward, professional and careful throughout the tattoo session. She knows her style and will not sacrifice it just to make money. The fact that she is the only one in the shop is great because you don't have to worry about tons of people hanging around.
