I have always wanted a tattoo but just never took that step to get it. I wanted something really special for my mom being she passed away over 3 years ago. Once I got to the shop I was greeted by Dave. He talked to me asked me what I wanted and where. I wanted the tattoo on my side which he informed me that it was a tender spot. He never tried to talk me down being it was my first tattoo. He just told me what to expect. Once he did all the prep work we got started. He was very gentle and precise in what I wanted on my tattoo. He even gave some suggestions on the colors. Oh and he is pretty cool laid back guy. I am extremely happy with my first tattoo. My friend and I decided to get matching ear piercings (double helix) when I was visiting her a few months ago. Initially, the staff was friendly and gave clear instructions on how to care for my ear piercing. Melissa told me to not use q tips, and specified to use Johnson's Baby soap to clean the ear. She pierced me with small earrings and told me that my ear may swell, so I may need to get them changed to larger earrings. After a few days, my ear swelled, nearly engulfing the piercing. I reached out and sent a photo of my swollen ear to the staff on Facebook, since I live out of state, questioning if it seemed normal. They responded that it was fine and that I should tough it out if I can, and to get it changed since it seemed a bit swollen.I decided to get them changed at a local piercing shop in my area because the pain started to affect my daily life. The owner of the shop agreed to change my earrings and clean out my holes which were now very infected. He had told me that he had never seen anything like this in his 15 years of experience. Mind you, I got charged $75 for this service. Long story short, the ear swelled about 3x the size of my other ear, and I had to go to the emergency room to get them taken out. Following this, I had to see an ear specialist and get my ear professionally drained; an excruciating experience. Upon reaching out to the staff at Bayou Tattoo, they tried to blame the situation on me by asking if I used peroxide and saying that I probably didn't take care of it well enough. They promised to refund me my original payment, which I appreciated, but I did not receive my money until a month later since they kept putting off sending the check in the mail. Unfortunately now I have to live with a large amount of scar tissue on my ear unless I want to invest in cosmetic surgery, and not to mention the back of my ear being severely deformed. I would not recommend this place not only because of what happened to myself physically, but the customer service I received afterwards. Read Less

I've been getting work done here by Mike for the last year. There's a reason why he's been doing my work for a year. I have about 10 -15 sessions in that time with him and never left disappointed in anyway. Few years ago I happened to walk into to the shop.....and let's say I walked right out. Melisa did my first piercing since I had taken all mine out when I was 18 for the military. Sterility and aseptic technique is what scares me and the tattoo and piercing field but I ca...n guarantee they abide by this. Lastly, Mike, David and Melisa actually give a shit about their clients. Don't let Nathan tattoo you, absolute worst tattoo experience I've had just wanted 2 simple solid black armbands around my bicep and ge couldn't get that right....he seemed as if he didn't want to do the tattoo as soon as I stepped through the door and charged me heavily for it (probably thinking I would leave). The bars were extremely uneven and his hands were WAY to heavy leaving scaring tissue. Had to go somewhere else to get this fixed. Very sad. Read Less

The placement is excellent and she used jewelry that was appropriate for the type of piercing and my skin, knowing that I have trouble healing cartilage piercings. Casper is the guy to go to if you are searching for that special tattoo. Last year in June my husband and I got matching tattoos. Our matching astrologies the Cancer crab. I was very demanding with detail, colors,and placement even though it was a small tattoo. Casper listened and created a masterpiece! They came out beautiful! So we went back around January of this year and both my husband and I got much bigger pieces. The colors and detail are vibrant! We still get compliments everywhere we go. I even get compliments from people "who don't like that sort of thing". My husband got a book character from "Where the Wild Things Are" and I got a multicolored peacock feather. The atmosphere is cool and there good with walk-ins but the work ranges from "Okay" to just plain "Messy"! My tattoo came out okay but my girls not so much, on mine some details where not symmetrical, but on my girls it was just Messy! random ink spots outside of the tattooing area... i took my husband to go get a tattoo tues nov 4th. cheryl , was the geniously talented artist, who inked him. when he picked the tat out (skull and crossbones sucide charley) i wasn't thrilled, at the skull he picked. but it was his tattoo and his leg. by the time she was done, i was for lack of a better word impressed! the shading and detailing was amazing. she is very great at her work, and is also very friendly. all the while she tatooing my husband, i was conversing with her. she also stated that she will do one free touch up, but i dont think he'll need it!
