I was on vacay in New Orleans, and on a whim, I decided to get my first piece of "souvenir" ink! I had about 4-5 hours until I had to head to the airport, so I honestly didn't know if it was going to be possible, but I found Treasure Tattoo on Yelp and decided to give it a shot as a walk-in!I've always wanted a sugar skull tattoo, and I figured with NOLA's history, this was the perfect city to get one done in! Daniel was my artist, and after giving him some ideas, he worked his magic and added some of his own interpretation, and came up with a beautiful sketch! In a few hours, I was ending my memorable first trip to New Orleans with a new, beautiful piece of ink! Daniel is a great artist and a cool guy! I recently had a tattoo done by Stacey and it was a wonderful experience. The day before I went in to discuss my ideas with her-- that night she drew a custom piece that was beautiful and exactly what I had envisioned. I went in for my piece and the shop was clean, well decorated and inviting. She really took the time with me to make sure that my tattoo placement was exactly where I wanted it and then did a wonderful job on the tattoo itself. Every year my vieja and i travel to NOLA for a week to enrich ourselves in the sights and sounds and general culture of this amazing city. We woke up one morning itching for some new ink when we looked online and saw this amazing shop was not only a block away from where we were staying but that it was an all female shop. We walked in & were greeted by Jaime and Stacey. We asked if they had time to whip up a few little bangers and they were more than happy to help us out. In no time was Stacey sketching out the design for me. She made me feel extremely comfortable and confident as she meticulously laid down the design on my skin repeatedly until we were both happy with the placement. You always forget how much you hate tattoos until you're reminded of the pain, but that's just a side note. My husband and I got matching tattoos last night with Stacey and we cannot say enough great things about Treasure Tattoos! Not only did they keep the shop open for us way past closing (they were supposed to close at 7 & we got there at 6:55 🙈), but the pricing was so fair! They have a minimum charge of $80 that is very reasonable for the quality of their work. All equipment was sterile and/or disposable and Stacey had no problem showing us beforehand. The conversation was great and the resident dog Foxy was even better lol it's a little out of the way from main tourist attractions like the French Quarter, but so worth it! This is my love letter to Stacey.I've been to famous tattoo parlors in San Francisco and a couple in New Orleans as well, and I can tell you -- hands down -- Stacey is the best artist I've ever worked with. "Shakesqueer" was my eighth tattoo but the most visible, most intricate, and most meaningful by far. I spent years, I mean YEARS!, thinking about this design. I had an original inspiration image and a friend had even done an artistic mock-up for me, but the design was so important to me that I knew I couldn't settle for just any tattoo artist. I actually spoke with five different artists in three states before taking the plunge with Stacey -- and holy wow -- she was so worth the wait! I found her by asking people with ink I liked where they got their work done, and "Treasure Tattoo" and "Stacey" kept coming up. (The gender of my artist wasn't important to me at all, but I found out after I got my tattoo that the shop is female owned. Right on!)I made a same-day appointment for a consult and brought her my inspiration image. The shop was cool, quiet, and comfortable. Unlike the other artists I had shown my idea, Stacey got excited immediately. I talked to her about what I wanted and she sat down with me to discuss what it meant to me, what I wanted it to look like, and different options for color/black and white, etc. Most importantly, she gave me really practical advice about my idea. She didn't just say, "We'll need to change this or that," she talked to me about how arm tattoos age and what kind of lines and sizes look best over time. I felt like she was really listening to what I wanted but providing her expertise to make the best design possible. She cared about the quality of the tattoo she produced -- it meant something to her too -- and I felt I was in really good hands.She took a few days to draw it up and had me come in the day before my scheduled session to see it -- which I really appreciated because after years of thinking about this one particular image I knew whatever she drew was bound to be a little different, and I wanted time to think about it before putting needle to skin. I squealed when I saw what she had drawn for me! I mentioned a couple of minor adjustments I wanted to make and she said she'd think about it overnight.When I came in the next day she had taken my idea for the adjustment and run with it, and what she came up with was even better than my original image/suggestion! This part is really important: When placing the stencil on my arm, she re-did it several times until I was completely happy with the placement. In the past I've felt like tattoo artists get annoyed if they have to move the stencil, but Stacey actually recommended it! I felt like I was being annoying, but she reassured me several times that "We can move the stencil as many times as you want. We can't move the tattoo." We tried four or five different placements, discussing pros and cons of each, before settling.Then the tattooing itself: Maybe it was just the placement on my body (upper arm), but Stacey seemed to have the lightest touch of any tattoo artist I've been to! I barely felt it for the first hour. Also, she was great to talk to during the process. She was calm, easy going, and interesting. She was even pretty patient about the fact that I have a tendency to talk with my hands, gently reminding me to keep still (LOL, sorry Stacey!)Anyway, the outline took about two hours. I was surprised at how fast she worked. And when I stood up to check myself out in the mirror, I about died with happiness!Her linework is phenomenal!  I've never felt myself beam like that.She treated it with witch hazel (something no tattoo artist has done for me before, which felt amazing) and gave me great aftercare instructions. As long as I spent dreaming about this tattoo, I never imagined I could love it this much. It's been five days and every time I catch myself in a mirror I get giddy all over again. It's the best and longest lasting tattoo euphoria I've ever experienced. Not to mention I get compliments on it absolutely everywhere I go! All the tattooed people I meet marvel at her line work. It is truly a marvel!I wish you all could see how much I'm still smiling over this experience.We are going to do color in a few weeks and I will update this review with images of the final work of art. Stacey has been my artist for a few years now. She is the only person I trust to do it! She has the personality to match her amazing work. Long story short, we lost my family dog. My dad was torn up over this as she was his baby. He decided to get a portrait of her. This would be a job only trusted to do by Stacey. I'm so glad I found this place, and Stacey! I was searching for an artist for a tattoo I'd been planning. A friend mentioned Treasure Tattoo & that not only were they female owned & operated, but they were also getting ready to do a benefit for Women with a Vision, a fantastic local charity. I popped in for a quote, and as soon as I said It was a Wonder Woman tattoo, Stacey exclaimed that she was a huge fan, too! She showed me a painting she'd done featuring 2 different iterations of Wonder Woman, we chatted about the character's history & I knew this was my girl! I scheduled an appointment, sent her a deposit and went home to wait. One of the best parts was that Stacey emailed me twice before my appointment to ask clarification questions on the design I wanted & to tell me how excited she was to do it. By appointment day, it was like getting tattooed by a friend! She helped me with placement, made excellent coloring suggestions & we chatted easily while she worked. Stacey has a light hand, it was very easy to sit for her. The coloring is gorgeous and it healed like a dream!!I have a list of work I plan to get and Stacey is my girl! On a recent trip to NO, I had the good fortune to find my way to Treasure Tattoo and get tattooed by Stacey Colangelo. This was my fifth tattoo, and easily the best experience I've ever had in a tattoo shop (not to mention the best tattoo)! Tattooing notwithstanding, Stacey's just a cool person. Jamie is absolutely the best!! She did my full sleeve on my right arm Japanese style and I literally get compliments EVERYWHERE I go!! Seriously I'll go to a conference and get at least 5-10 comments about how the work is amazing, the colors to bright and artistry on another level. Jamie has worked all over the world and I travel from Houston just to get worked on by her. I've recommended her to over 100 people now since people always ask me where I get my work done. I tell everyone in Houston to go to New Orleans to see Jamie for their work as well. I'm so lucky to have found her. I was on a tireless search for an artist for almost a year and when I saw an entire suit she did on a guy, I was BLOWN AWAY!!! It was so deep, rich and clean I just couldn't believe it. She even did a sketch for me in advance on a picture of my arm since I was in another city (she was in London at the time), altered my artwork on site just to make sure it was right and I liked it AND even mixed colors last minute after we saw how the colors were looking on MY skin. Cosmetic tattooists are hard to find. I had a small area of skin cancer removed last summer. As a result, I lost half of my left eyebrow. After calling around to several shops in the New Orleans area, I was referred to Staci at Treasure Tattoo. After my initial consultation, I felt very comfortable entrusting Staci with my eyebrow work as well as a shoulder piece. Both exceeded my expectations. Wow, wow, wow!!  I don't know what else to say?  Stopped by the ladies @ Treasure Tattoo as soon as we got in to town.   They were warm,  friendly and professional.  Fast forward 5 days...Going in,  I knew what mine was gonna  be.  My wife was still undecided.   While Stacy worked on my eyebrow, Jamie talked with my wife and helped her reach as decision on her's.  Stacey was patient, meticulous and detailed. The art on my shoulder was/is fairly detailed.   She hit a home run with this.   As did Jamie with my wife's.  Both these gals are great.   Their shop is not on Bourbon or Frenchman. Came in on a spur of the moment decision and Stacey was great! She took her time with our tattoos and made sure they were perfect. My partner and I both got floral tattoos and we love them. This shop doesn't have your typical "tattoo shop vibe" it's very clean and well lit with beautiful color block walls and art. Also the owner has the sweetest dog Foxy who hung around with us!
