My friend and I went in with specific designs/ideas that were absolutely exceeded by Chris Blanchard. He was super accommodating and extremely talented. When we arrived for our appointment he greeted us with his drawings of our ideas. Seriously so much better than what we were thinking. He has a calm, easy going manner that put us both at ease. Kind of an impromptu job on my end -it was essentially a walk-in with two hours notice... Mat is where it's at! Out of the gate I was just a little put off by the price for the work I was getting, but what they say is true - You get what you pay for! After hearing a bunch about him and seeing a bunch of the work he has done on my friends, I knew Theophile was the one I wanted to see for my very traditional black and grey lady head tattoo. This is my first really BIG tattoo so I knew I needed someone good, but I really didn't expect how fantastic of an artist he is. Our consultation was great and left me really excited for the tattoo appointment. Theophile really took the time to get to know what I wanted and to draw somet...hing that was really unique to me. I am left, almost a week later, still very very in love with the tattoo on my leg and can not wait to go for my next appointment. I am a 48 year old widow who went to get my first tattoo on my 3 year wedding anniversary to honor my late husband. I was so nervous and emotional before I even stepped foot into the shop. I cannot thank Scott enough for his patience and positive energy. He was so friendly and easy-going that as a "virgin" I didn't feel out of place or discouraged. He took his time and let me make adjustments to the design, so that I felt perfectly comfortable. The shop is beautiful. The wood...work is gorgeous and it's clean and smells good. Everything was very professionally laid out and relaxed. I even loved that the guys talked about finding music that "fit the rainy weather". It has very very talented tattoo artist. The shop is very big and it's beautiful and very clean and the walls are covered with some of the most beautiful artwork that I've ever seen. Visited a friend of mine last weekend in NOLA. I was determined to get a tattoo before leaving to come back home. I went with a hummingbird concept in mind and stopped in the shop. The holy grail of tattoo shops in New Orleans! Babely artists with talent, skill and personality to match their good looks. Clean shop. Mat Welch spent his entire day drawing my piece. When I came in an hour late and decided i wanted something different, he was completely tolerant and open to the idea even though he had another appointment in the books. The lines came out unbelievably clean, the experience was as pleasant as getting a bunch of needles stuck into your chest could ever possibly be. I can't speak for the rest of the guys at the shop, but I've had a bad experience with Scott, he cancels on me the day before I was scheduled to get my sleeve worked on, I ask him "can we reschedule" and he straight ignores my text completely . Mind you this guy did all my tattoos , it was birthday and I was very upset because I waited a long time to get this done. I'll start by saying that I am from South Carolina and spent a couple months researching shops and artists so I could get tattooed while on vacation. After several searches two always came up over and over on every "top" "best of" search I typed and that was Tattooagogo and Theophile Bourgeois. In fact I found only one negative review and it was here on yelp and after my own experience I can gather that review was one littered with idiocy. I'm a tattooed pin up model, so the work I have is often in the "spotlight" and I wanted a rather large piece on my thigh. I knew right away after seeing Theophile's portfolio and reviews that he was the artist I wanted to work on me. He wasn't my first choice, he was my only choice. Had he not been able to accommodate me I wouldn't have gotten tattooed. After an email and phone call we were squared away. The day I arrived to be tattooed I walked into a shop that was clean, organized and felt like home. I was warmly welcomed and felt more like a regular than an out of towner. Theophile had my sketch ready and it surpassed my expectations, it amazed me how by just describing the idea I had to him translated into that sketch better than I ever imagined in my own head. As a client who appreciates tattooing as much as I do seeing Theophile's excitement about the piece only made me more proud of it. When your artist is into it as much as you are you are bound to leave with an amazing tattoo. Knowing I was on vacation Donn and Theophile recommended some places to eat, things to do, etc. When I tell you these guys made me feel like a regular I mean it. I've been tattooed in several shops where I feel like an outsider, just a pound of flesh for someone to make a dollar off of. Not here. Theophile is professional, polite and quite funny as well. I like when an artist takes his time, continually assesses the piece and makes sure to get every detail just right. If you want a beautiful piece for a lifetime, from an artist that treats you like a friend then I suggest you go see him. I know I'll be going back, he's worth the drive, flight, whatever it takes. My experience at tattooagogo could not have been better, and I most definitely plan on returning for further work. Theophile or "TJ"  brought an Idea Ive been having for years to life. He took his time with my sketch, fixed anything I was unsure of, and made my tattoo perfect for me, and exactly what I wanted. I finished in two sessions, around two and a half hours each, because the piece I chose was fairly large and took up my entire thigh. I've never had a tattoo artist make me feel so comfy and at home. He tattoos very gently, and makes you laugh the entire time. That pretty much goes for the whole shop though, they're all hilarious. I was so impressed with TJs line work after my first session, they were all perfect and I got endless compliments on my unfinished piece. I went back a few days ago to add some color, and again my experience was incredible. Just basically watching my tattoo come to life was the best part. He helped me chose colors, and made sure I was okay with everyone he used (which not all artist do, I know from experience). Another plus with TJ is he doesn't take ANY breaks, he didn't with me at least, unless he had to switch tattoo machines. He doesn't take "too long" he takes HIS TIME and makes sure his customers are completely satisfied. He's a true artist who genuinely cares about the finished product. my favorite shop in new Orleans.  nothing but quality artists there.  I have seen a lot of the work Don has done, he is great at color, my personal  favorite artist moved to Austin but comes back for a guest spot there once a year. that is my go to place for custom work, these guys can draw you up anything.  and they aren't afraid of telling you that your idea might not work.  they would rather not do a bad tattoo than make money off someone. I went in about 3 weeks ago to get a portrait of my late best-friend/dog from Donn.  Great experience, I went in 10 days or so before the appointment and we talked about what I wanted, I showed him some pics and he told me which he thought would work best.  I emailed him the art and we clarified what I wanted.  I asked if he would put a little of the cremains in the ink and he said sure.Appointment day he texted and said he was available earlier if I wanted, which was good.  When I got to the shop we chatted a bit about the art and he showed me what he'd come up with which was dead on to the photo.  About 2-2.5 hours in the chair, one very short break and I have exactly what I wanted on my arm.  Donn is great to talk to and really adept with his needles.  I have a fair amount of ink and Donn is as gentle as can be--but yes it still hurts. By the way, the other artists in the shop were really friendly, lots of good-natured banter but within the confines of taking their work seriously.  A nice place to let somebody puncture your body thousands of times for a couple of hours. I waited to write a review for the ink to heal and it looks better than I had hoped it would.  A top notch piece of work from a fantastic artist at what I consider a really reasonable price.  I will go back to Donn and tattooagogo for more work and if you are considering work, I don't think you will be disappointed. Went there with an image of something I wanted. Don Davis was working on someone while his girlfriend watched. I showed him the image and he told me that he'd have to do it much bigger than the picture I brought in. Told him I didn't want that, and he said why not, it's where you cant see it anyway, your wife won't leave you, and you won't lose your job! The quality of the work is good for flash work.  Seem to specialize in Sailor Jerry and basic flash style art.  Pricey for the type of art offered.  We are pleased with the work we had done.  The artist we had work on the three of us we not personable and even rude at times. Being an artist and a collector of body art for 20 years I personally will not return there.  If you have your art prepared and don't need an artist interpretation then I think you would be pleased but if you want something original and don't have it prepared I suggest finding an artist with a art portfolio with drawing and paintings. Recently got a beautiful rainbow finch done by Theophile from here. This is only my 2nd tattoo, my first I got done in Shreveport, but compared to the experience I had at the shop in Shreveport, this was far better. My tattoo healed very quickly and I had no problems with it (unlike my first one), the colors are fantastic, and I am absolutely in love with it. Theophile is a great artist and worked with me to make sure it was as exactly as I wanted it, offering suggestions to ensure it would look the best for my body. He was really friendly and talked and joked with me the entire time, making sure I was comfortable as this was only my 2nd tattoo experience in 3 years. I've gotten a ton of compliments on it from friends and family, and if your mom even likes it, then you know it's good.I had a really great experience here and will be going back to Theophile to re-work my first tattoo in the near future. I'll start by saying this review is more for Theophile than the shop as a whole. The shop itself is clean, comfortable, and all of the dudes are friendly and accommodating. That being said...Theophile drew up a really beautiful sugar skull and worked with me through the tattoo on deciding colors for it. When we finished it looked amazing. However, for the size, detail, and location of the tattoo, it should have taken significantly less time to finish than it did.I've been tattooed by multiple artists and have hours (and hours) of work already on my body, and there is no way that I can fathom a 6"x4" sugar skull taking 4.5 hours with one short break (except for the time that it did happen. Here. With Theophile.) The outline alone took over an hour, and though I could be wrong, it seemed like he went over a lot of the colored areas twice.I'm all for care and attention to detail and understand that there really is no rushing a good tattoo, but there is something to be said for not needlessly drilling a client for four and a half hours.(After the session finally ended I was really pleased with the tattoo. Awesome illustration, beautiful colors, all that.) I found it a little strange that Theophile suggested I take ibuprofen for the swelling when my tattoos have never swelled or really even gotten red around them. I followed all of his specific care instructions but the tattoo still got infected. I waited it out for a few days, chocking it up to an unusually long and overworked session but finally gave in and went to the doctor when the whole thing turned into a scab. (green puss and all. cute.)Again, to be clear, I've had hours of work done previously and have been successfully caring for and healing my tattoos WITH NO PROBLEM for 6 years. This is the first time I've ever encountered this sort of thing. I am not questioning the sanitation of the shop and don't feel like the infection was a direct result of the needles or anything, but have a feeling that by the time he was done the tattoo was more of a really sensitive wound than just a minor abrasion. The bottom line is it took way too long and isn't healing properly.So... that sucks. Read Less

I came in last week for the sailor jerry promo and got a huge pinup girl on my leg from Larry Bone. I was super impressed. He did a great job, and was fun to talk to the whole time. The colors he chose were perfect, and it came out better than I expected it to!I've been to many tattoo shops in my life, and this one was definitely the most fun and comfortable one! The staff were so funny, and it was just really relaxed, as opposed to some places where the artists are douchebags or judgmental. They definitely keep it nice and clean as well. Prices are fair. (* and by Boned, I mean Mr. Larry Bone gave me a gorgeous rose tattoo on my delicate side boob).I went for the Sailor Jerry promo and I'll surely be back. Every artist in this place is fantastic and friendly. The work is super high quality, hands down some of the best I've ever seen. Larry is hilarious as well as considerate (two things I love in any person) & getting tattooed by him is like hanging out with a charming, funny guy who happens to be putting some fabulous art on your body. There are quite a few tattoo shops on Magazine Street, but this one is by far, the best I've seen. The open and airy space makes getting tattooed feel like the art that it is, instead of a clinical procedure in a sectioned off room like some shops. The space is aesthetically pleasing, for sure, and it's exceptionally clean.The artists here are so lovely. I've been getting tattooed by Nixxin for the past year. He is a master of his craft. I met him via recommendation of a friend and just wanted a small quickie tattoo, but as we got to talking, I felt inspired to plan something bigger, including a coverup. I now have a half sleeve done by him. I love the delicate nature of his work. For such a big hard bear of a guy, he sure tattoos beautiful flowers and filigree patterns. Ladies, if you want a beautiful, intricate tattoo, he's your man.I've only ever had great experiences at this shop, and I recommend it every time someone asks me about a tattoo shop in NoLa. It was nice to go into a shop where the people know what they are talking about and are willing to draw whatever you want. Everybody here has a nice portfolio of tattoos that they drew up but they were willing to work with the little drawing I brought in. I felt like I might have been at the wrong place at first because so many of my friends had told me about the owner who is known for doing large japanese tattoos and after looking at his portfolio I would tell anybody looking for a japanese tattoo he is the guy to go to. Since I was looking to do a little fleur dis lis on my arm and the other guys were busy Nixxin took my crudely drawn design and made it into EXACTLY what I was wanting but couldn't put on paper. I am into the old Sailor Jerry style tattoos and he made mine look like it could have been done by the master himself.
