It was our last day in NOLA and we wanted to get a tattoo to solidify the experience. Because it was last minute we decided to walk-in and see if they could work on us without an appointment. The staff was very professional and had no problem drawing something up for us on the spot. My artist was Justin and he was a really nice guy. It was my first tattoo so I was nervous and he made me feel comfortable and explained the process. I told him I wanted to get a Libra scale tattoo in my favorite color (purple) and in 10 minutes he drew up a stencil and we were ready to go. Called today to check and make sure they were doing Friday the 13th tattoos, the girl who answered the phone said yes and that they were doing them all day until 10pm. Got there around 7:30, we walk in and she says that they stopped taking names at 5:00pm and that there was a cut off. I’ve been to this place many times and it is honestly the most unprofessional place. The only reason I come here is for Kai. Let me start off, the desk employee sat on the couch the whole time and didn’t even welcome us when we came in I didn’t even know she worked there until she told me (after a while of waiting) that I needed to fill out some paper work. She hands me the paperwork which asks for phone number, address, etc and underneath is everyone else’s paperwork. So you could literally just go through the stack of papers and get anyone’s address and phone number that has come into the shop that day. The guys that work there are completely useless. My friend and I walked in for small matching tattoos. We had a simple design in mind and Mac did a great job drawing out something even better than what we had envisioned. The shop was clean and welcoming, and everyone we spoke to was friendly. Mac was very sensitive to the fact that this was my first tattoo and made me feel comfortable; he was professional yet easy to talk to. We walked in off the street — my husband and I were visiting New Orleans from DC and I wanted a small tattoo on my hand to remember our trip by. The guy that was working there basically laughed in my face when I told him what what I wanted. (May have been the owner actually, based on these reviews.. Rich, was that you??) Neither my husband nor or I are strangers to tattoo parlors and we’ve never had such an unwelcoming/unkind reception. I came in there trying to get a botched navel piercing (from a different shop) fixed. Their piercer was AMAZING! He was very upfront about the issues and tried his best to remove a fresh piercing, and put in a larger one. While it obviously hurt a ton, I felt comfortable in their shop. In November I got 2 piercings from Erik. I know that everyone heals differently, but I was amazed that these piercings healed in under 6 weeks! I was a bit nervous, but Erik made it a very easy/comfortable process. He took his time and was precise marking me for the piercings. He even went as far as to carefully bandage the piercings so they did not bloody my clothing. My past experiences with other piercers haven’t really been that good. So, (before seeing Erik) I decided these piercings would be my last. However, this experience has changed my mind. I have 4 more piercings that I’d like Erik to do for me. Honestly dont know how to rate this place. I had two experiences here, vastly varying each other. My first experience was getting a shoulder tattoo piece done which was done quickly, safely and properly. The second was honestly one of the uncomfortable experiences in my life. I had worked up the courage to finally pierce my belly button and the piercer Erik was helpful and informative until i mentioned in passing that I had always thought hip piercings were cool. He then proceded to pull down my pants AND panties almost exposing me completely, to expose my hip bones and pelvic region without my consent to state that they'd look sexy on me and that I should do it. The fact that someone who is handling my body felt entitled to grab my clothes and forcefully expose my body in public no less is DISGUSTING. And adding a comment that it would "look sexy" after that was incredibly unsettling. This isn't the only time Ive heard that Erik goes beyond the norm with female patrons and he even went as far as to verbally abuse a mutual friend when she apprenticed with him. Any woman going into this shop should be aware and avoid him at all costs. I wouldn't dare ever have him work on my body again. Pigment should let him go. Read Less

got my nose pierced here almost a year ago, i have 10 ear piercings so im not new to this. i talked to the piercer before doing it and asked him what kind of metal it was and if i would have a reaction to it. he said no id be fine, i had a really difficult healing process. when i went home in the summer to buy a ring the piercer in new york told me my nose was definitely reacting to the metal. 9 months later and its still not healed. lots of ppl i know went here and were totally fine just make sure you ask about the quality of metal exensively Read Less

Got a tattoo done here by JW a week or so ago. He redid the drawing three times because i gave him an exact picture of what i wanted and he kept trying to make it his own, cool and all, but not what i specified. on the third time i told him to fix two things and then it would be good. he didn't show me before printing up the stencil or whatever and before i knew it he was tattooing the flawed design. I asked for full color and he colored for about two seconds then said it was done. There are literally blotches of color surrounded by huge patches of skin with no color. He was really standoffish and seemed super bothered by the fact that i wanted it exactly perfect. never had that problem with any other artist, as they're usually more than happy to perfect the art i will have to wear on my body forever. My tattoo is healing much differently than any others i've gotten despite taking care it like i always do. will have to get the whole thing basically covered up with a better depiction of what i asked for. also, for a tattoo about 2 inches in size and only about 25% colored in he charged me $100. i still tipped him $20 because i always tip, but i wish i hadn't because the tattoo sucks and he didn't even say thanks for the tip. except to pay more than i would elsewhere and definitely ask for a better artist. I did a late night I-am-just-going-to-suck-it-up-and-do-this-you've-been-talking-about-it-forever nose piercing and Rich did a great job of walking me through everything and even some breathing exercises. (I do not handle needles well). Everything was sterile and he talked to me about what size future jewelry I wanted so he could pick the correct size stud to initially put in. I thought it was a pigment of my imagination when my friends and I called to see if we could get some tattoos last minute. Justin was all "no problem" and we were all "see you in a min homie".We walked into a super clean tattoo shop on magazine and told them what we wanted- just four little numbers to represent our friendship with two of the squad moving away and my frequent trips to my home planet we wanted to commemorate our bon temps- and as we waited for them to draw up our tattoo I flipped through some of the books of tattoos and was loving the work they've done on past clients so I felt I was in great hands and knew my sensitive extraterrestrial skin would be well cared for. Adam did my tattoo and was extremely professional and fun to talk to. Justin and AJ tattooed my friends and we were in and out in about 40 minutes. Then, we had celebration drinks at Dat Dog. Everything was pigment and tequila and nothing hurt. The space is clean, fun, and full of artists who want to give you what you want at a great price. Time management and customer service were A+ and I love my new lil tattoo! I took my saniderm patch off today and it's PERFECT! Got a piece done last week and will be going somewhere else to get it worked on/fixed. I went in asking for a watercolor style piece. Mac said no problem. I ended up with a piece that is no where near the style I asked for. Very upsetting. Mac also did not tell me how to care for my new tattoo. I could have asked but as this is my 13th one I know the routine. Definitely find somewhere else if you are getting your first one. The front of the shop is great- clean and very unique. Loved the chick working at the front. Super friendly and awesome. But as I was getting my piece done, another artist was making a sandwich less than 3 feet away. Seems super unsanitary. I got my nose pierced by Eric/Erik in November of 2016. It was super fast and painless, and he made me feel so comfortable there! I was really sweaty because I walked there, which is a 45-60 minute walk in New Orleans weather, and he was completely unbothered. This would have been 5 stars if it hadn't been for my next piercing here.I came back to Pigment to get a conch piercing last week. I'm not sure about the name of this piercer, but he took FOREVER getting the materials together. It seemed like he didn't know where the needles/jewelry were stored since he was digging around for so long. He also didn't ask me to check the placement marking for my piercing, and I do think the placement is a little weird. Maybe that's just how piercers are for this specific piercing? I don't know.My friends and I probably should have known to leave when we saw that he didn't know where shit was supposed to be, but we didn't. So here we are. On the positive side of things, it didn't really hurt for me, and we still really like our piercings. Mine is healing fine. Pigment is also super affordable! My friends and I went here to get our noses pierced and they were so patient and caring. Also, when we first got there, we noticed our rental had a flat. One of the guys came out to try to change the tire. The piercer stated somebody could give us a ride home since we were staying so close to the shop. Just all around good people!Read Less

My complaint is not about the services they provide, but instead the customer service. I went in to get some help putting my tragus piercing back in after it had been out for only a few months. I could feel the hole was still there, and in the past I had it out for 2 years and a place in NYC (where I used to live) was able to help me get my earring back through the hole; my point with saying this is that I've done this before at another parlor and there were absolutely no issues. The guy here barely tried to get the needle through (I felt no pressure from his needle at all) and then told me it had closed and that I would have to get it re-pierced entirely. He also said there was no way they could use my earring that I had brought in (which I understand may have been a sanitation concerns, but at this point it felt like he was just trying to get me to pay for the earring on top of the piercing fee). I decided to not have it done here because I did not feel like he really tried to get it through without re-piercing and therefore was not interested in paying well over $50 (with the cost of the new earring added in) when that may have not been necessary. I was frustrated when I went home, and tried a little harder to get an earring back in on my own, and was able to get it in after about a minute or so. Not even with a needle, but with another earring, and it wasn't painful at all. So the hole was definitely not closed, furthering my belief that the story about it needing to be re-pierced was simply just to get more money out of me.Having said all this, the other staff were very friendly, so I believe this review is specific to this particular individual's attitude, and not of the establishment in general. These people are so incredibly rude. I have been there twice to get earrings for my Tragus, I only went because it's the closest to my house. The first time the guy hardly talked to me, gave me no choices for the earring and basically ushered me out without talking to me. The second time I went (reluctantly) I was told the piercer was not there and that I could not buy an earring. That was literally all that was said, I have no idea when the piercer would be back, or why I could not buy the earring. He had zero interest in talking to me and that was very clear. Read Less

Great service. Got my nipples pierced and they were very aware of sanitary precautions before piercing me. The piercer, Erik, was super friendly and kept me really at ease. He interacted with me and my friends the whole time and made sure I was happy with it. He taped up my piercings so that I wouldn't bleed on my clothes which he wasn't required to do but he legit cared if I stained my clothes. Our family actually flies from California to New Orleans just to get our tattoos from Keel. My wife and I flew down this past week for our 25th anniversary to get some tattoos and like always Keel did not disappoint. The tattoos came out awesome and Keel added his own touch to make them pop. On top of that Keel is an extremely nice guy and makes you feel comfortable while getting your work done. I wanted to wait until my piercing healed to post so that I could provide full info! I got my septum pierced at Pigment two weeks ago by Eric and I'm sooo happy with how it turned out! It's nearly completely healed now after such a short period of time.PROS- Quick, nearly painless procedure. I really felt like Eric knew exactly what we was doing.- I was pierced with an 18g ring, which is small for a septum but the right gauge size for me! - 2 week healing period, but it stopped feeling sore after only one week. - It looks great, if I do say so myself. CONS- A bit awkward at first. I ask a lot of questions and initially felt that I was being an inconvenience by doing so. This IS my third piercing (including ears), but Eric took a while to answer my questions and even seemed to balk at some of them. He warmed up eventually, but the environment might be difficult for an extremely anxious person.- This is a personal preference thing, but I'm a bit skeptical of cleaning piercings with anything but salt water/saline spray. At my "home" piercing shop in New Hartford, New York, my piercer is very against use of soap in the healing process. So, when the aftercare sheet mentioned soap far more than saline, I was a little nervous about the quality, but it didn't turn out to be an issue at all. Read Less

Been wanting my nose pierced for years. Decided to pull the trigger when on vacation in NOLA (from San Diego). Researched a number of shops before we got to town and pigment was the clear choice. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and Erik was so nice and welcoming. I was nervous but he made me feel at ease and ushered me right back so I never had time to chicken out. He was friendly, knowledgeable and so fast (literally 1 second). He changed his gloves a few times and had all the tools packaged in sanitary wrapping. The shop was low key and the other people in there were super nice. Cost $50 total (which is a great price compared to what it runs in SD Cali). Excellent! Brought my 12 year old daughter to get her ears pierced. Eric, the piercer, was phenomenal. He took his time with us never rushing. I really liked this place, I could see howt eh workers would come off as rude but they just have sarcastic humour. My friends and I really liked it though and they make you feel like you're welcome to come back to get your piercing cleaned and checked on and stuff.
