This is truely an awesome tattoo shop. The shop offers  knowledgeable artists with a great atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable. Setting up an appointment was explained and is a simple process. How is it even possible for someone to read your mind via email and have exactly what's in your mind sketched out when you walk through the door?! That's exactly what Jeremy Justice did for me! Over the next 2 days (11 hours total), Jeremy proved why he is one of the best! Love my sleeve, and I get stopped routinely by people wanting to look at it. I will be heading back down soon to finish what we started in June and I cannot wait!Amazing artist and a great shop! Make appointments well in advance as these guys do mostly, if not all, custom work. This is a review a long time coming (November). My husband and I were in just for the weekend and were looking to add some artwork to our bodies when we stumbled upon this place. The first impression was awesome, and the tattooist were very helpful, but told us they were pretty booked up for the next 4 months or so. We were of course bummed to hear it, but when Randy heard the tattoo my husband wanted to get, and loved the subject matter so much he said there was a possibility of him squeezing the both of us in on his day off.Not only did Randy take his day off and work with us, but he stayed up all night sketching a truly unique design for both me and my husband. He spent hours overnight designing as we eagerly awaited to see if it was possible. Sure enough, in the morning he emailed us saying he could do it that day. The tattooing experience was amazing, Randy is just an overall awesome guy and an incredible artist. The way he creates movement and life in his pieces is something that sets his tattooing above so many others, and the execution of his linework and shading is superb. We were absolutely thrilled by how both of our tattoos came out, and the memory that was created is such a huge part of our NOLA adventure.  Finally, after all was said and done, one week later Randy messaged us to ask how they were healing. I am really impressed with the level of professionalism, care, fun, and dedication that Randy has to his art. Thank you for giving us such an amazing memory! If you have unlimited cash to go towards a new tattoo, eyecandy is your shop. Yes it was a clean environment, but most shops in NOLA are clean also. Maybe my "bad" experience is just with a certain artist. I choose Chris Black for my tattoo due to his art I saw online. Chris wouldn't tell me how much a tattoo like I wanted would cost. Nor would he tell me an estimate of how long it would take, and he actually did the drawing himself! So after no cost or time frame, all I could get outta him was that he will charge me $150/hour. But WOULD NOT comment on a timeframe. This struck me as something odd for a guy who claims to have been tattooing for over 10 years. That should have been enough to make me turn around and find a different artist, but my stupid ass decided to stay w him. So 8 hours later (4 just to do outline and shading then went home and had to go back for the last 4 hours to color). This tattoo is only about 6-7" tall and 4-5" wide, it's a full color sugar skull. I do believe he would have tried to drag this out for even longer than the last 4 hours while he was putting the color down, but I told him after hour 3 that I only had enough cash for one more hour. Basically knowing that after hour #7, I didn't want to spend more than the $1200 I was at already. That pretty much left me w way more color towards the bottom where he sat and colored forever and worked towards the top. As far as being a nice artist, Chris really wasn't that guy either. He was kinda standoffish w me throughout the whole process. He even made a comment before we ever started telling me to lay down on the table and face away from him the whole time, if I were to turn and breathe on him once, he was not tattooing me! I tried numerous times to make small talk w this guy but everything I had to say he basically talked trash about. Even down to certain songs they were playing on the shop radio. So when I first thought of this design and picked out an artist, I expected to spend about $400-500. This tattoo ended up costing me $1200 plus the shitty $50 tip (which now I so wish I would not have given him). The tattoo looks good overall, so no complaints about the actual tattoo, just the process and friendliness of Chris. I have gotten newer tattoos since this visit w Chris and my new artist have all said that this tattoo is about a $400-500 range n price and easliy could have been finished in a matter of 3-4 hours! So if your pockets are PHAT, go see Chris Brown and make sure not to breathe near him or he will kick you out. Read Less

I have no idea why I haven't written a review earlier to let the world know how absolutely rad Erica is.  I had a color-intensive arm piece with some serious detail done while in NOLA back in 2011.  It was artwork from a book, so literal likeness was a must.  I found Erica through extensive research before our trip, and was not disappointed.Erica's work was incredibly fast, clean lines, great saturation of color (still looks brilliant two years later).  She has a light touch, with very little fading or bleeding.  Really top-notch work.  If I didn't live in Denver, she'd be my go-to! I took a road trip with my best friend through the South and I wanted a tattoo on the trip. I found Erica through yelp and she did not disappoint. I had sent her a few reference pics, and when I got in she mapped out my leg then banged the amazing drawing out. Quality work, beautiful coloring, and she's fast.  Plus she gave us some tips on places to check out in town. Great atmosphere, great artists, great ink!  I don't need my artist to be chatty or kiss my ass, but I do expect my artist to NOT act like I am an inconvenience or treat me like I'm part of an assembly line like I've gotten at a couple other places.  We didn't get any elitist attitude from anyone at Eye Candy.  We got great treatment here, and everyone was very personable and enthusiastic about working on us.A group of us (4) wanted to go in at the same time, so I followed the directions on the website and emailed.  Michael Cangelosi responded in a timely manner, and from then on, we corresponded either through email or text.  He was always prompt with his responses.  He was able to take us on short notice, and asked that we send him some of our images that we wanted inked, so we did.  When we got to the shop, he already had them drawn up.  Eventually, two of us were inked by Michael, and two of us were inked by Chris.  (My girlfriend and I were inked by Michael, which is why my review mentions him mostly.)  Michael was very helpful with suggestions, and also was very willing to listen to what we wanted.  This was my 11th tattoo, but my girlfriend's first, and she was also very pleased with the work and treatment we received at Eye Candy.   She got an old school anchor, and I got an old school eagle, and we are both pleased with our artwork.  We plan on returning there for more work.  We were lucky to be seen with only two days notice, and they book up quickly, so my recommendation is to either call or email (just like their website says) 2-3 weeks out, since they are appointment only.  Also, fyi, they take cash only.  Hope this is a helpful review, and at some point I'll post pics.  Good luck! This review is a long time coming -- mainly because I don't have a lot of time to write them. However my NOLA New Years Resolution (New Years starts on Ash Wednesday here, for real!) is to be more productive with my writing and to chronicle the things that elicit strong reactions from me -- and Yelp is great practice for that!  I'll eventually shy away from 5 star reviews but since these first ones are my favorite places, I can't help myself! Upon arriving to New Orleans via Los Angeles, I wanted to get some fresh ink. Not knowing what shops/artists were reliable and skilled, I searched online for various artists' portfolios. Needless to say, all of the artists at Eye Candy really stood out with exceptional work. Michael Cangelosi was able to get me in within a week (a rarity these days I hear as they're some of the most sought after talent in town).  He listened to the changes I wanted to make to the art I brought him (a Victorian inspired sketch by Madame Talbot) and even made some great suggestions himself. The original piece was black and white and I wanted color so Michael carefully helped me choose just the right shades & mixed them flawlessly. His work is so amazing the artist of the original piece posted it on her website!  This was my fifth piece and like a complete tool I forgot to take an ibuprofen as I have sensitive skin and I swell up like no tomorrow on the first sign of irritation. Michael was kind enough to spray a cooling mist on my arm periodically when the swelling began to start and never missed a beat despite my occasional uncontrollable muscular twitches/spasms. He had me laughing and we exchanged old stories and before I knew it, he was finished.  Several other shops told me it would take at least two visits to do my piece but Michael did it in one and for less money and better quality!  It's been two years and it still looks bright and fabulous! I got my first tattoo with Michael. He was super helpful and was friendly since the beginning making me feel really comfortable. He was quick and very good. I gave him the idea and he drew it immediately, and changed everything I asked for. Would definitely go there again, and recommend it to everyone.
