A couple of years ago, a friend from out of town was visiting and we wanted to get matching tattoos before she flew back home. This shop was located right down the street, so we came here after we could not get into where I initially wanted to go. Parking is limited in the area, so be aware of that. Snake did mine while another guy was doing hers. At least I think his name was Snake. It was an unusual name. Hers got infected within days and she had to take antibiotics. She has both of her arms and most of her legs covered in tattoos, so she knows how to take care of them. Mine also got infected and still looks like it has bubbles from the ink, not a good thing. I look at it and am still kind of ashamed at how bad it turned out. I will be getting it fixed soon. Read Less

The artist straight up told me he didn't want to do his job and tattoo me...I am the easiest going person in the world in the customer service side and I have never been more disappointed. Don't come here if you want a professional grade piercing. The piercer (didn't introduce himself) pierced my boyfriends nose in under 2 minutes, didn't ask if he liked the placement (he doesn't), didn't tell him anything about the jewelry, and hardly mentioned anything about cleaning the piercing. After visiting several tattoo shops in NOLA and passing this places build-board a few times "look better naked" we decided to check this place out for our souvenir tattoo. Upon arrival we were greeted by Stephen. What a sweet guy! We were talking about the type of tattoos we wanted and without any promise of money he started drawing up some ideas which I loved. I have never seen in a tattoo artist start drawing anything up without paying some sort of deposit and I have A LOT of tattoos. My mother in-law and myself both got tattooed by Stephen. 5 stars hands down! Me and my sister came to this shop hoping to get a couple simple tattoos. We're from out of town and were greeted by some very welcoming artists. I've always wanted this simple and silly little tattoo and Jessi was more than happy to do it! She was very thorough with making sure everything was clean and that my tattoo was in the perfect spot and at the perfect size. She was awesome and while the tattoo only took about 5-10 minutes she was great at keeping a fun and engaging conversation. Turns out we both used to be lifeguards XD. I have several tattoos and I have never been treated so poorly. I came in on a Friday and no one was actively working.I asked if they could do 2 small tattoos instead of one large one cause the price is mostly set on set up and they just made fun of us for our tattoo choice and were extremely rude to 2 young girls. We felt extremely uncomfortable and left right after even after trying to remedy the situation. When we left they told us to fuck off and leave. On Valentine's Day while in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, we went in to get matching wedding date tattoos put on our ring fingers, but the guy talked us out of it. He suggested matching infinity symbols with our date on our inner forearms. We agreed. Was my first tattoo so I did EXACTLY what the man told me to do, and I followed the written instructions to the letter. Immediately, I thought he had pt the wrong date on mine, but I convinced myself that it was just the type of "1" he used. Nope.... if I ask someone who doesn't know what it should say, they get it wrong every time. I ended up with a lot of blowout also, which I thought we were trying to avoid and why we did NOT put our date on our fingers. So much for that! One pic is side by side his/hers right after. We're on vacation from Seattle area. My nieces and their mother and my spouse hit up Chopper who saw us leaving when he was driving up and got us squared away. Visited New Orleans for my 30th birthday. Live in Austin so I am used to high caliber tattoo work but I wanted to get something while I was here. Asked around town about good studios and everyone that made a recommendation pointed me here. Did not disappoint. Liz discussed the piece with me at length prior to discussing price and showed genuine enthusiasm to come up with something. After that Faye and I negotiated a very fair price. Back in 1992 or thereabouts, I was in NOLA waiting for a ship (retired Merchant Mariner) and decided to have an old tatt covered that I'd gotten in Subic Bay PI several years prior. Saw the shop during my daily walkabouts thru the French Quarter and decided to stop in. Long story short, I got a beautiful teal dragon and flames by Jacci Gresham. I was home for a wedding and wanted to get a tattoo, well I walked in an Kyle was ready to take care of me. I told him what I knew I wanted and well he came up with the rest. I wanted my dads signature (from his drivers license) with his dead of birth and date of death. My dad was a musician so including aspects of music was very important. I was just in New Orleans for NOLA 2018 and got in contact with Aart accent and spoke to Kyle over the phone about wanting to do a complex piece. He worked with me until I arrived in New Orleans designing  it so by the time I got there it was drawn up, ready to go and his drawing was better then I could have expected. My tattoo took about 10 hours over two sittings and by the time it was done, I'm just so blown away by Kyle's work. The details, lines, the look, everything is so perfect I'm still so blown away by it every time I look at it, not to mention the amount of compliments I get every time people see my tattoo. I never knew of Aart accent or Kyle before neither had I ever been to New Orleans and I can say they went above and beyond my expectations. After a nice Sunday stroll through the Quarter my wife and I stopped in to see about getting some more ink work. We've been to Aart before for piercings so decided to give them a try for a tattoo I've been wanting for a while. I have many tata but still couldn't find anyone I would go back to until I met Raven. I went into the shop with my boyfriend to get himself a tattoo. I wanted one for years, but I had NO idea what I wanted and was scared to get it. I met Raven and he graciously answered hundreds of questions that I asked. I really trusted him, and he wasn't trying to pressure me at all. He helped me think about what I would want and where. He very kindly told me what he thought would work or not, long and short term. I felt confident that I found the perfect tattoo that I drea...mt of, but couldn't figure out myself. Before the tattoo he spent some time not only educating me on the sterility and safety of their needles, but taught me everything I need to know about how to tell what's actually sterile and safe for any future use if I got another tattoo. My husband and I wanted some tattoos on our vacation in New Orleans. I contacted Aart Accents via Facebook. Sean Paul, our tattoo artist, answered within 5 min via messenger. We told him what we were looking for and he directed us to his photo album to see if we like his style. We did and made an appointment for a consultation. Sean Paul is layed-back, open to ideas and has a very good sense of what tattoo style he does very well. I loved the roses he tattoos so I got a tattoo w/3 roses and lace and my hubby got a kick ass realistic style zombie girl. We spent 8 hrs there (4 hrs for my tattoo and 4 hrs for my hubby's tattoo). Half of my tattoo has faded and come off. I was in New Orleans for this past Halloween and I wanted to get some new ink. On the spur of the moment I decided to try this place out. My idea was simple; 3 words to be spaced out between three fingers. My artist and the rest of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's so unfortunate that I enjoyed my time with the staff more than I do this tattoo. I have multiple tattoos and know how to properly take care and maintain tattoos but this one was poorly done. I had the misfortune of allowing the owner Jackie a renowned famous tattoo artist here in New Orleans. People kept saying over and over. Wow you're lucky she is the first African American tattoo artist in America, Blah blah blah. The woman kept nodding out during my tattoo and her hands were shaking. When she was finished I noted that the lines seemed to be erratic but I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking well it's hard to tell when it is fresh perhaps it will heal differently. This tattoo was supposed to be a 2 part session and I put down $300 just on faith. The tattoo was awful she took my drawing and butchered it. blown out lines, uneven lines, and all around a really bad job. I never went back and had to have my friend go back over it with much thicker lines just to try and fix it. Granted I never went back. Not even to complain. They are sketchy scary people that I will never trust again and they don't TIP their food delivery people  either. In my eyes that makes them pretty awful people. Read Less

As luck would have it, she has great experience with drawing animal skulls not to mention got super excited about the concept. I came here on Saturday afternoon because a friend (Andrea) of a friend (Jon) recommended this place as a good reliable clean place to get a tattoo.  I looked it up on Yelp and some other sites and it had good reviews.  She said I should try to have Ty do my tattoo but unfortunately he had just left when I showed up on Saturday.However they weren't too busy and this guy Todd was able to do my tattoo even though I didn't have an appointment.  The place is a little weird and intimidating. The owner was sitting behind the counter sort of bossing everyone around. Not real friendly but not rude either.  I was excited to meet her because this is the oldest tattoo shop in Louisiana and also one of the only shops in the country owned by an African American lady.  As usual though, I was more excited to meet her than she was of me.  There was another black lady working there who was more friendly and helpful and helped speed things along.  When I told them I wanted a Fleur de Lis I assumed they would roll their eyes because it's so cliche but instead they were super enthusiastic and helpful.I showed them the flash I wanted and Todd blew it up a little bigger for me.  Todd was really great to work with. He was friendly, used clean needles, and a very good tattoo artist.  My tattoo is already scabbed and the scabs are coming off so that's great - only 4 days later! He is very gentle, didn't press hard unlike other tattoo artists I've had.  So no scarring.  He also added some color  - purple and white and didn't charge me extra for it.Just like anywhere in New Orleans - everyone's real talkative and friendly. So if you are in a rush make it clear, otherwise you're going to spend over an hour and most of that is just talking.If I go back to New Orleans I'd definitely get another tattoo by Todd.  The place is also reasonably priced.  It was $80 for that tattoo + tip.The place is a little dirty looking as far as dirt on the floor, stains on the ground, etc,. but the equipment is clean and that's what counts.  And you get a stamped card - for every 7 or so tattoos you get you get a $40 credit for your 8th!The only bummer is that they only accept cash (no plastic) so be prepared.  However there is an ATM there. I came here one night a few months ago to get my nose pierced. I normally like to bring my business to Electric Ladyland on Frenchmen Street, but they only pierce noses with rings and I wanted a stud. This place was close to my house so I thought I'd check them out.I parked right out front. It was later in the evening, although I can't remember the exact time (sometime between 11 PM and 1 AM). The two guys working the store were outside smoking. As I walked up they asked when I was there to have done. I said I wanted to get my nose pierced and they said they were going to finish their cigarettes and to go wait inside. *Sigh*....so that isn't the biggest deal in the world, I get it..you're on a smoke break, however--they were just so blah and unfriendly when they said it that I was a little put-off. So I wait inside for about 10 minutes while they shoot the breeze outside. There are a handful of customers inside looking at tattoo books. Most of the customers look younger than me and I am in my early-20s. Finally the guys come back in and gesture for me to come up to the counter. I give them my debit card to pay and without saying anything they just point over my shoulder. I'm confused and then finally turn around and see an ATM. Uhh, okay, couldn't you have just said you didn't take cash rather than being obscure and using hand gestures?? I'm close to just saying "f*%$ it" at this point, but I get my cash out and pay.The guy that took me to the back and pierced me didn't have a very good bedside manner. When I go to Electric Ladyland, all of their staff (especially their piercer) are so friendly and keen to explain exactly what they're doing with your piercing and/or tattoo. They are also good about keeping up small talk to help with nerves. The guy here at Aart barely said anything (except to correct me when I misidentified a part of the city I was talking about). He quickly pierced me and then sent me on my way without giving me cleaning instructions. Despite all of this, I still tipped him. When I tipped him, he seemed genuinely surprised and immediately became much more friendly. Maybe what  happens is that, since this place is on the outskirts of the Quarter and open late, they get in a bunch of drunk tourist customers who don't tip and, because of this, are a bit disenchanted with their job. However, that still isn't an excuse to act like working on your customers (who are your livelihood) is a chore. I won't be returning and wouldn't suggest this business to family or friends. I cheated on my tattoo artist while in New Orleans for Halloween 2010.  Just swung by this shop after walking by a few times and deciding I liked the vibe in there.  That's where I met Todd...What an artist this guy is! He did a chest piece on me that rivals anything I've seen in any shop (and I've been in a fair few).  I dig his work and his company so much I'm thinking I may just have him do all my work anytime I'm down in the Big Easy. After being recommended by a local resident, this seemed like the perfect place and the staff was cool and easygoing--and posted articles in the shop about the owner noted great respect for her within the industry. Beware, though! The tattoo lost all color in just a few days and no one seemed overly concerned. Shop around for better in New Orleans. Maybe the owner should be a little more hands on. Read Less

I found my tattoo experience at Aart Accent to be a very unpleasant. After receiving my tattoo I found that the color quickly faded leaving it looking as if my buddy had done it in his garage rather than a "professional tattoo shop" which has been around for years. If I were to do it all over again I would have chosen to take my business else where, and would have not allowed them near me with a needle! Read Less
