I got my first tattoo here and I'm sad to say it'll also be my last. I won't ever get another tattoo after my experience with this shop. The only reason I'm rating them this high is because my artist (Amanda) tried to help me after I expressed my dissatisfaction. She really is a great girl and I like her a lot, but I wasn't at all happy with the finished product.  For starters, I didn't really get a good look at the tattoo in the shop, as I wasn't provided a mirror and only got a backwards glimpse of it in my cell phone camera. It wasn't until I got home and checked it out up-close and snapped some pictures that I noticed the imperfections. There are two letter a's in the phrase and they both look COMPLETELY different. Not even similar- they look like completely different fonts. Also, not all of the lines in my lettering were straight. The first half of the tattoo looks pretty good, but the end is shaky-looking. I included that I was extremely concerned with precision when I emailed the shop to find an artist, which is one of the reasons I'm so upset about the finished product. When I asked for a touch up the very next day (because I wasn't going to wait to express concerns about my first tattoo!) I was met with slight hostility. Not from Amanda, who tried to be understanding, but some other random artist who I'm pretty sure is named Jordan. I called ahead to voice my concerns and Amanda told me to come in and show her what was bothering me about it. After I got there and started pointing out the *very obvious differences in the letter a's, the Jordan guy walked up to us and started making snide comments like 'that's not even worth a touch up,' and 'It looks fine to me' (as if he's the one who has to look at it for the rest of his life). He had nothing to do with my tattoo so I'm not sure why he felt like his input was necessary. Amanda did listen to me and was, again, somewhat understanding, but basically tried to talk me down and said that I was over-analyzing it because it was my first tattoo and that nobody else would notice those "small imperfections". She did agree with me in regard to the a's looking different, but tried to chalk it up to how the tattoo was done laying down and it looked different because I was standing up, the way my boob curvature was, etc. Which is kind of a 'DUH'- but Im pretty sure that tattoo artists are supposed to account for those factors before they do the tattoo. Even though I wasn't feeling the best after this consultation (ESPECIALLY after being scolded by an outside artist) I still asked to get it touched up and Amanda approved because she wanted me to be happy with it. I made an appointment for 2.5 weeks later but cancelled because of personal reasons. Besides, it can't be fixed without thickening up the whole tattoo and the last letter 'a' is beyond repair. My tattoo is just ok, but I don't love it and never will.I can't even explain how disappointed I am to write this review, but I couldn't brush it off because this place completely ruined tattoos for me. My experience here was nothing but stressful and I'm so upset that my first (and now only) tattoo didn't even come close to my expectations. And for those out there who think I'm being too picky, you're damn right! This is a TATTOO- It's going to be on my body for the remainder of my life, and I'm going to have to look at it on a daily basis. I'll take my L when McDonalds gets my order wrong, but I've always believed that that a tattoo is the last thing you should skimp or settle on. Aside from the tattoo itself- no one deserves to be berated for wanting a touch up on something that will arguably be one of the most permanent things in your life. I didn't go back there acting crazy, rude or derogatory of Amanda's work- I only expressed my concerns and was met with indifference and inconsideration. I definitely won't be back or recommend this place to anybody who wants a precise tattoo. Read Less

I did extensive research on tattoo studios in Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas and decided that I really liked this studio based on reviews and pictures of their work. Upon researching I also discovered that half the artists left, and opened their own studio called Leviathan Studios. I booked an online appointment with High resolution a month ago. I got no reply. I called several times during studio hours. No answer. I left voicemails. No return call. So after weeks of not being being able to get in touch with someone I made the hour long drive into Baton Rouge, and "walked in" during business hours and surprise surprise no one was there! I had enough and went over to Leviathan and spoke with Needlez. He booked me for the following week. Everyone in the shop was very friendly and accommodating, and of course was not surprised to hear about my experience with this studio. I went in for my first tattoo and the artist was was cool, patient, and made the experience easy for me. The environment was friendly, clean, and welcoming. Update* The tattoo healed and didn't look as great as when it was first done. A lot of the ink came off (even though I kept it moisturized & clean) and made the tattoo look aged--some of the lines were faded and you can see very little detail. Overall it's not horrible, but compared to his other work, this tattoo wasn't his best quality. I did speak to the artist and he said he would correct whatever is needed, however, I'd rather go to another artist that displays consistency. I will probably go to Eric Guidry in Lafayette to go over it again. Their retainer is the same but the quality is different. Update* 04/16 after my previous update, I was sent a very unprofessional and condescending text at 8am about my review from Markus Bankhead. Got my first tattoo done here from Kurtus. It was a 7 hour session and he assured me that he would take his time and make sure it looked good. Keeps you well informed of the process, makes sure you feel alright, and is very entertaining so time passes by. He takes a lot of pride in his work and if you don't know what colors to pick or what to do he will have suggestions. I will definitely be back. Read Less

Awesome, got my first tattoo here, they even do hand tattoos. Explained very well how hand tattoos heal and such, i ended up almost passing out but they stopped the tattoo process, took a break, gave me a banana and some gum to make sure i was getting enough sugar haha. Chris Starscream had a month to work with me on my tattoo and all I got for my hundred dollars was a pieced together sketch for my full back piece and he kept 50 dollars of my down posite and he said it was my responsibility to schedule a consultation. Like really I'm the customer I don't know your schedule I'm not a mind reader and he never contacted me first I had to push to get him to talk to me. And that was just through a text and I'm getting a full back piece I felt like I wasn't a valued customer I fully expect to pay a few grand to get this tattoo totally disappointed I would never recommend this place after that. High Resolution looks to be loaded with talented artists. Jordan took a lot of time to bounce ideas and draw up the perfect tattoo. It took a few times to get it just right as he wasn't happy with the first few. I think that displays professionalism, perfectionism, and pride in work. Needlez went over and above my expectations to create an image I love based on a terrible resolution picture I brought in, and put me completely at ease even thought I have a fear of needles. I was super picky about what I wanted, but he listened to every minute detail. I am super impressed with his expertise and professionalism. I was impressed with the shop and it was very clean. Jordan Cain was my artist and I am very happy I chose him. It wasn't just about money for him, it was about his passion for art. Last night I went to Needlez to turn a partial picture of a very old emblem from a cathedral into a stunning tattoo on my back. He did exactly what I wanted and helped design what the photo didn't have on it to complete the image. He knew how to size it correctly for the detail, shaded the areas to make it pop, advised on a good placement, and was all-around very knowledgeable.The finished tattoo is better than I hoped for. He is also a good guy to talk to- great bedside manner, which I appreciated in someone tattooing my back for two hours! I highly recommend this studio for its cleanliness as well. I have several acquaintances who came here and everyone had a great experience- no problems with the tattoo. High Resolution is the best in town and Needlez does excellent work. Read Less

High Resolution is a pristine and clean facility which is obviously important for sanitation and health. I saw Callie Marie for my watercolor tattoo (see pictures) and she did an outstanding job! All my friends and many colleagues raved about her skills, and after stalking her work on Instagram (@callie_cattoo), I just HAD to book with her. She did my brothers dotwork tattoo as well. I am thoroughly impressed and trusted her artistic judgement completely, and she worked with me on the design esthetic after sending her some inspiration. Cannot wait to go back to her to finish up some work and get more ink done. She was meticulous at preparing all the equipment and asking me every 15 mins or so how I was feeling and letting me adjust myself for comfort. She's pure talent.  Wish I could get in a lot sooner for my next session though since I am very eager to get make work done, but she's worth waiting for. I even got my hair done today and showed a stylist in the salon and she said "wow that must be callie's work!" You go girl. Love high resolution, and I love Callie's raw talent and abstract esthetic. I was so nervous to get my piercing done! As soon as I walked in, everyone made me feel very welcome and soon my nervousness turned into excitement. Kurt was so nice and sweet and made it as painless as possible! The place is COMPLETELY sanitary (seriously, they were washing their hands for ten minutes straight) and they take their time. I saw two other piercings get done before mine and every single one was done with care and precision. There was absolutely no rush. I will only come to this place from now on! Usually I never write reviews for anything but this place is amazing. I just got my fourth (and largest) tattoo done on my shoulder and I couldn't be happier. If you go in, ask for Kurt if you want something special done. He's amazing with shading and knows what will look good and what won't. They might take a while to sketch up and get things going, but it makes the product thorough and is totally worth it. Kurt was also really friendly and made me feel at ease; it didn't feel like they were just getting a job done and calling it a day like other tattoo shops I've been to. I have gotten stopped by at least 10 people in the first few days of having my tattoo and they all tell me it's beautiful. Definitely go here!! Read Less

The artists here are very helpful! Instead of just taking my money and slapping some crap on me, they took the time to talk to me and figure out exactly what it was that I wanted. They let me know what would work on the skin and what wouldn't! The piercer was very knowledgeable and polite! He won't just stick anything anywhere! He lets you know what to expect from a fresh piercing and exactly how to take care of it. Also, he knows that dermal anchors are in fact illegal here, so therefore, won't do them! He comes highly recomended! If you want something that will look good for the rest of your life, then you should look into High Resolution Tattoo! Best place I have ever been to, hands down! This place was amazing!! I've been to a lot of shops over the years in many different states and i have NEVER seen a shop this clean! Even the employees there made me feel comfortable and not just another job to do. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone wanting good, clean work from highly experienced artists. The prices at the shop are standard shop prices across the country so i have no idea what the person below me was talking about. They must be used to ghetto shop or house tattoo prices. Didn't know a place like this existed in Baton Rouge. Original art work on the walls and no images to choose from. They drew up we wanted and said they wouldn't tattoo it on anyone else. This place exceeds expectations. It is beyond clean, friendly, inviting, and over all the best experience I've ever had with a tattoo studio. This place is truly the studio you are looking for be it your first, last, or just new addition to your human skin canvas. The employees there are beyond what you expect and exude such a welcoming vibe that you instantly feel as if you had always known these guys, and have been coming to this place all your known life. My first impression of the studio was that it was insanely clean, and well set up. But what stood out in my mind the most, aside from the amazing self done art on the wall, was the fact that no flash was found anywhere. I didn't see dime-a-dozen butterflies, or the classic every-girl-had-one dolphin.. They tote the idea of custom pieces and deliver with flying colors. My personal experience there was amazing and nearly moved me to tears. I went in to get a memorial piece done on my arm, an image a best friend had drawn up that represented my grandmother. Mike Williams took the image and added to it and turned it into an amazing custom piece of art just for me. It not only suited me, but I think it does the memory of my Late grandmother, justice. I'm making plans to go back not only for the rest of my ideas/works, but to finish the memorial tattoo. As long as I live in Louisiana, no matter WHERE in Louisiana, I will make the drive to go to High Resolution Tattoo. A main goal of mine is to get something done by each of the guys there. I got my second tattoo at High Resolution with Kurt. He was GREAT. The station was VERY clean, he did my tattoo exactly how I wanted it and I am SO in love with it! I will definitely go back there! Also, they were SO friendly. Ive been to other tattoo shops in the area to get my tongue pierced in particular- and the piercer was so rude, and made me feel very out of place and uncomfortable! i have had tattoos done by many people, and the shop's cleanliness and courteous treatment by the artists at high resolution is, by far, the best. their commitment to giving the customer exactly what they want is amazing, and their skill level is way above many others i have seen in the past. i would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want your typical, run-of-the-mill, crappy flash tattoo that you'll see on 'jersey shore' or whatever other crap mtv decides to air. My girlfriend and I both have had piercings from many different places. I went with my girlfriend who wanted to get a second tongue piercing. The guy took an extremely long time, seemed nervous, and appeared to not really know where the right equipment was. During and after the piercing, his hands were shaking, and the worst was yet to come!!! When we saw her piercing it was completely slanted to the side of her tongue!!! Not slightly slanted, DRASTICALLY SLANTED. There was almost a HALF AN INCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ENTRY POINT AND THE EXIT POINT OF THE BAR!!!!!! The piercer even had the nerve to say it looked good when he knew that he had messed up (his voice was quivering as he said that it looked good). EVEN WORSE, he was extremely nervous to take it out and finally admitted that there will be a lot of blood when he takes it out. I found this strange and realized that he knew he had made an even worse mistake. He had PIERCED THROUGH ONE OF THE TWO MAIN VEINS in the tongue, which was evident in how much BLOOD came out. When she showed the tattoo artist for a second opinion, he admitted it was slanted, but seemed to not care whatsoever beyond that, saying "whatever, talk to the piercer about that." Overall, High Resolution ranks dead last out of all of the piercing places either me or my girlfriend have been to. Do NOT get any piercings here whatsoever, it was an extremely bad experience!!!!
