Kebrie is the best person to go to for piercings. She knows what she is doing, and does things correctly. I won’t go to anyone else for piercings again. Been going since I turned 18, every bit of work I have, including my profile pic, has been done by either mike or potter, some of the coolest guys around and some of the best work, I keep coming back for more and already have some more lined up for the future. The piercer kebrie has poked all my extra holes, and she's just as cool as the rest of them! Definitely not the quality I expected from the reviews I've seen. Got my nipples done last April, received jewelry that was too small and no advice on how to care for my new piercings. Obviously I did my own research before and after, but the shop is supposed to feel comfortable and professional. It was neither. This is the second nipple piercing I've seen from Back Alley where the placement of the piercing was too deep and the initial jewelry too small. Back Alley has never received anything less than a 100 on every health inspection and before I got my tattoo I watched Mike put together his machine with clean needles and everything was sanitized. I do not recommend this tattoo shop to anyone! They are extremely rude and aggressive toward customers. I am an epileptic an have to have my service dog with me at all times. Before I even entered the shop I was confronted by a woman that told me I wasn't allowed to take that "dog" into the shop. My service dog isn't a pet, she is a medical device that I use to stay safe. In case you aren't aware of the law regarding service animals, it states, the service animal can go in any public place with the handler, except for places of worship (churches, synagogues, etc.) and an O.R. in a hospital. I informed the woman who confronted me (as she held a cigarette in hand) that she could not tell me I couldn't enter the shop with my service dog. After me and my friend continued into the tattoo shop we were confronted by a worker in the lobby. He immediately stopped us and told me I needed to leave because I have a service dog. Not only was I discriminated against for having a disability, but I was denied access because of it. I told this gentleman that I could have called the police and nicely informed them that I was denied access because of my service animal. And because the gentleman (not even a gentleman, a moron) told me I couldn't enter the shop he could have been arrested and put on trial for breaking ADA law and face time in prison and fines. I asked to speak to the owner, but I was TOLD to leave. Telling a disabled person they cant have their service dog is like telling a paralyzed person they cant have their wheelchair. If I could give negative stars I would. And Back Alley Tattoos, you will be hearing from my lawyer. Read Less

Went today (3-5-16) with my oldest daughter and soon-to-be daughter-in-law and we each got out belly buttons pierced, very clean and welcoming atmosphere, the pierced was a little late but the tattoo artists were very professional and understanding and when she did get there, she got all of us pierced and out the door in no time, she was nice and I would definitely go back and recommend! Stand-up people. They're welcoming & if it's your first tattoo, give you advice on how to care for it. You watch them open the needles too, so you are reassured that it's safe. My tattoos were done by Colby, which were for the most part what I asked for. If it doesn't turn out exactly right, they'll schedule a touch-up for no extra charge. You can tell these are good people with skilled hands. I also got my ears pierced there. I hear they're trans friendly for any trans folks out there. Went into the shop while I was visiting Morehead. Asked for a small ampersand on my thumb. Mike, the shop owner, decided this would be a great piece for the apprentice and assured me that he wouldn't allow the apprentice to tattoo unless he had the utmost faith in him. I agreed, because I'm heavily tattooed and I think apprentices should get their chance to work on real customers. I regret allowing that to happen. We had to move the stencil six times. When he got to work, he couldn't follow the stencil. Eventually, we had to bring another artist in to try and fix his mistakes. It didn't look great. The healing process was terrible. I've never had such trouble with a tattoo. Most of the ink fell out and it doesn't even resemble an ampersand. It actually looks like I've got a prison tattoo on my HAND. Or something some teenager did with one of those beginner tattoo kits. Then the apprentice charged me $40 when Mike had previously quoted me $20. I felt bad for him too, because he tried so hard, so I gave him another $20. But this is not acceptable work. I would love to have my money back, especially now that my hand is permanently marred because of a serious lack of judgment on Mike's part.I wanted to write Mike directly before I left a public review, but the shop has no website or contact info so far as I can see. Anyway, if I were you, I would stay away from this shop or, at the very least, I wouldn't let the apprentice tattoo me. Read Less

I went to Back Alley Tattoos over the summer of 2015 as I was doing an internship at Morehead State University. I had done research on tattoo shops in the area, and found Back Alley Tattoo to be the best shop in the surrounding areas in terms of diversity of styles that the artists could do, the high quality of the art, and the overall cleanliness of the shop (100% inspection rating). I stopped in one late afternoon after work, and ended up talking to artist Potter about a t...attoo I wanted to do on the side of my leg. After setting up the appointment for the following week, Potter was able to produce an amazing tattoo that was exactly what I wanted. During this time, we also set up another tattoo, quite larger than the first, that Potter would have to work on over a week and a half of drawing and research (a Skryim based tattoo). When I went into the shop later, Potter had drawn up an amazing design which was exactly what I pictured in my mind. Then, two sessions and nearly six hours later, my tattoo was complete and my expectations blown away by the sheer awesomeness of my new tattoo. Both of my tattoos healed perfectly and I am proud to show them off when possible. Overall, Back Alley Tattoo employs quality artists who are dedicated to their craft and are easy to work with to bring your dream tattoo to life. I wanted a tattoo so I was told to go here.  When I went in, they were really friendly, professional and knew what they were talking about.  I can't draw but I knew what I wanted in my head and told them all my ideas.  They took my information and said they would call me when they had something drawn up.  I think that took about a week or so.  When I went to look at what they drew, I was blown away.  It was exactly what I wanted.  I had to wait 3 plus weeks to get a available appt because they were that busy!  Great shop.
