I had a FANTASTIC experience at Twisted Images! I had to get my ears pierced again after having surgery on them due to them ripping.  Bunny was very professional and extremely knowledgeable in her field! It was a little pricey compared to Claire's or one of those type of places but it was worth every single penny! She walked me through everything and explained where I needed to pierce them due to existing scar tissue.  Had I not have gone in Twisted Images I would more than likely end up where I started, paying another $1,000 to get them sewn up again.  When it was time to change them, I went back in and she did it for me. A few years ago I decided to start my journey into piercings over again.  Unfortunately for me I went to another shop on spur of the moment and got three piercings which that shop (NOT Twisted Images!) screwed up (the right lobe piercing went fine but the left lobe was a 'reopen' instead of repiercing an existing hole she shoved an 18g taper through and it was incredibly painful. After that fiasco I impulse chose another shop for my tongue and it was incredibly traumatizing (the piercer there thought it a good idea to pierce on 2 instead of 3 and I panicked a bit because I wasn't expecting it). After a bit of research I stumbled upon Amy and Twisted Images.I could tell after my first visit that I found my piercer for life.  Since I left the first time I have returned multiple times and have referred many many people into her doors.  To date I have had four ear piercings, two dermal anchors, a septum, and both nipples pierced there.  I have been in and out buying jewelry, getting things swapped out, and conferring with the staff about various project ideas and jewelry information.  Amy and Bunny are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about their craft.  They make you feel at ease and comfortable with not only your 'normal' piercings but the more intimate ones as well.  They have the most gentle piercing techniques and I have only had one 'painful' piercing and it was because of my weird anatomy and trying to get a CBR into a fresh piercing, I later had to have that spot repierced and the second time a curved barbell was used and it went MUCH smoother (anti-tragus).  I have only been pierced by Amy, but have talked to Bunny previously and she is just as highly acclaimed as Amy is. They are an APP certified shop that values re-education every year and advancing their own knowledge on various practices in the profession.  The shop is INCREDIBLY LGBTQ friendly and many LGBTQ people I know frequent the place.  Prices CAN be a bit higher but you are paying for knowledge, experience, and high quality jewelry.  I'd rather drop $50-100 on a piercing any day than some $20 chop job with plastic or unknown metal jewelry.  Highly recommended!!! The last piercing I had was 12 years ago, so I was a bit anxious. I had my prior ones at tattoo Charlie's and I honestly never wanted to go back there. My friend got numerous piercings here so I decided to give it a try. I got my cartilage flat done and the pain was very minimal. I haven't been pierced in over 10 years so to say I was nervous was an understatement. I came here with 3 of my friends and each one of us were getting something pierced. I have had multiple piercings and tattoos done here. Staff is friendly, and the shop is clean. Amy and Corinne make it easy to relax while you're getting pierced, which says something since they are about to shove a needle through you. I cant express how amazing my experience was getting pierced by Amy. I was nervous about having my 4th hole and cartilage pierced so before she did it we did some breathing. She walked me through every step and made me feel very comfortable. She made sure the placement of the piercing lined up with my existing piercings. She showed me everything was sterile before hand and showed me she was disposing of the needle properly. The shop is clean and there is lots of space so i had a room to myself. Corinne is a true artist! She fixed a hack job I received in town from somebody more interested in churning and burning to the next customer. Like I literally left the other place with an ear full of blood and jewelry I hated because that's all he had. I started researching online and read the reviews. There was 4 of us wanting the same written tattoo in memories of a loved one that just passed away. Went into shop and spoke with Ely about getting tattoo done. He set up appointment for next day. Explained that 2 of us were from Arizona and leaving the next day. He took our deposit,and set up appointment for noon. We showed up at noon,and waited 2 hours. Before finding out he wasn't showing up till later. They didn't want to refund our money at first. He didn't answer phone when called or anything. Finally when we got in touch with him. He said he would do one at 6p.m. So I showed up at 5:45 p.m. he was taking someone else in before me. Doing something that was going to at least take till 7. This guy is very unreliable. Wouldn't trust him to do as he says. Besides that he wasn't even set up to do any work. Was setting up his corner too,had poor dog sitting in the car waiting and eating car too. Also had girlfriend sitting there too. 2 of us are leaving un happy due to his Bullshit. His loss out 400.00. Don't go to him even the girls there felt sorry for us. Read Less

First off: I have zero tattoos. This review is based on my experiences with piercings only. I always feel welcomed here and really, truly love Amy, the shop's main piercer and perhaps owner? She is just a good soul and makes you feel happy and at ease when you're about to embark on something painful!Last time I went they had a girl working the front desk who I didn't recognize, and I wasn't very impressed with her. She seemed incredibly stoned and had a hard time taking down and understanding my order. I feel like this is a cliche that tattoo/piercing shops probably have to battle, and up to that point I had been pleased that everyone seemed nothing but professional. Maybe she needs to go.Also, they will order custom jewelry for you. You can have it ordered head of time so that when you get your piercing, they put in the jewelry you requested. This can take a while though - I think 6 weeks was the longest I waited once. But a piercing is probably something you should plan ahead anyway, right? Read Less

I got my first tattoo yesterday at Twisted Images and it was an extremely positive experience. I was a bit scared of the pain (as I can only assume most first timers are) and was entirely new to the whole tattoo scene. S8N was my tattoo artist and he did an AWESOME job of making me feel very comfortable and making sure the tattoo came out exactly as I wanted it. I was nervous because my tattoo was a small line of script and looked pretty different from the bigger, more elaborate tattoos I had seen on the website, but it came out BEAUTIFUL and exactly what I was hoping for. The tools were all brand new and clean and everything seemed very hygienic. The staff was great. I've gotten twelve tattoos at eight different locations, six of them on the west coast and two here (I like to collect work from different folks). Rodney at Twisted Images and Craig Jackman at American Electric, in Silverlake, are my two favorite tattooers. I haven't gotten any work done at the new shop a few doors down from the last location, but I have stopped in to say hello (while waiting twenty-seven days for a cut at Derby City Chop Shop), and the place is every bit as welcoming as the last spot. Clean, friendly, and comfortable-making. As for the tattoo experience: I scheduled a consultation with Rodney, as I wanted a very large piece done (about twelve hours on the table). He was ready when I arrived. We went over my reference photos and came up with a design, Rodney finding better references than those I came in with. A couple weeks later I showed up for my first session. I waited maybe five minutes before he was ready to go. The other two sessions were the same.You spend twelve hours with anyone, you want to like them. Rodney is happy to talk if you're feeling chatty and comfortable with long stretches of silence too.I talked with a couple other tattooers during five-minute breaks, and liked them as well.As for the work, it's excellent. I've gotten tattoos simply because I felt like getting tattoos, and I've gotten work that meant something. This piece meant something to me, and I really wanted it to be good. It turned out better than good.I generally get one or two pieces at most from a tattooer. I'll probably end up getting more than that from Rodney. Read Less

An out-of-town friend was coming to visit & wanted a new tattoo (her fifth), so I told her I was thinking about Twisted. She checked out their website & texted me a few minutes later: I WANT LYNDI LOU! So, we made appointments with Lyndi and couldn't have been more impressed.
