Traveled all the way from NJ for a tattoo with Sharon Lynn. Available by appointment only, she books up months and months in advance (and it's easy to see why!) Her work is creative, beautiful, and extremely detailed. She was willing to work long-distance with me on a design, and brought my basic concept to life. Her artistic eye for design, color, and overall feel of the tattoo is beyond anything I could have imagined. Her work space is clean and organized, and she made me feel very comfortable. She uses top-quality ink, organic soap, and was extremely hygienic throughout the process. She really went above and beyond. I'll be a customer for life. As for the actual shop, it's pretty small...located on a side street with street-only parking. The signs say 1 hour only, but we parked all day and didn't have a problem. My husband and I have a "few" tattoos and I can honestly say , our best ones were done by John at five star. we have not had the chance to get any by anyone else there but from all the beautiful pieces and smiling faces I see leaving I would say they have a lot of very talented people working there . I can't say enough good about Five Star. The shop is clean and the work is solid. You do need to make an appointment as all the guys have a strong client following and are usually booked, but you wont be disappointed. Everyone here has solid line work and a great eye for color and design. No wonder all the guys are busy!Karl has covered up some pretty awful pieces I received from another shop in town, and I couldn't be happier. Went in for a spontaneous spring break tattoo. Rachael took one look at the picture I showed her and came up with something cute and unique. The tattoo was small and only took about 7 minutes. She was pretty gentle and it turned out great! They were very clean and professional. Must have been some confusion on party who wanted tattoo and was told he didn't have appoinment.I recently got my 1st and 2 weeks later got my 2nd.They are alwaysfrienly and yes they are busy and most times ned to set appointment.I deal with Racheal and she is awesome.She communicates with me via e_mail and responds same day if I have a question or if I just drop in they will chat with me and ask me about my ideas for next tat and are always giving me advice.sometimes I just sit in there and look at their books.No problem Read Less

Dont listen to the other reviewer. Things happen. I walked in on Derby Day after visiting Acme which was closed but is a reputable business and Body Art. Body Art didnt even acknowledge me after 30 minutes... I know they were busy but I didn't get a hello. On my way home I saw Five Star Tattoo and decided to check it out. The guys greeted us and were friendly as soon as we walked in. They let us know they were booked but let us know what they had available that week. I went in today for my tattoo and was very impressed with not only the tattoo itself but the artist's working there. John is very talented. I highly recommend them. Read Less

I went in wednesday march 30th,with a drawing of a tattoo i wanted and was told they couldn't do it then but i could schedule an appointment.I scheduled an appointment for saturday april 2nd at 4:00,since i had to work that day,I was told to call if i wasn't going to make it.I never called because i was looking forward to getting this tattoo.I call at my lunch to make sure of my appointment and was told he had another appointment and that i didn't set an appointment,but i could come in wednesday or thursday.Very unprofessional. Dennis, Matt, John, Little John... the only difficult thing about this shop is which of these excellent artists to choose!   The space is clean and comfortable, the artists are experienced and talented, the location is excellent.
