We came to Horseshoe because Stephanie James is working here and she did my wife's first tattoo and it looks amazing a year later. We like the semi-private feel of the studio as it is not just a social gathering place with gawkers and people coming and going. Stephanie set the appointment with my wife...... and we showed up 30 minutes early and Stephanie took us in immediately and after getting the artwork ready she delivered a quality tattoo just as we expected. We highly recommend Stephanie as she is personable, takes pride in her craft, and made sure to keep checking with my wife to ensure she was comfortable and approved of each aspect of the process. I really do not know what else you could want or expect when seeking out a tattoo/ artist. We also appreciate that Stephanie gave us feedback on the piece my wife wanted and helped her make informed decision on the tattoo rather than just saying yes to anything for the sake of taking money and not caring what the finished product looked like..... trust your artist, they probably know what works and what does not!! Only giving four stars because I got my tattoo from Stephanie when she was in a guest spot at a parlor closer to me, but holy moly, what an artist!  I can't speak to Horseshoe itself, but they're lucky to have Stephanie.  Her linework is unparalleled, and she was extremely knowledgeable about well, ANY question I threw at her, from sanitation, to inks, to aftercare - even theories on technique and business practice.  Never condescending.  She's got a gentle, competent hand and despite settling on a tattoo nearly a foot long, she finished in an hour and a half with barely a flinch from me.  I honestly can't recommend her highly enough!  She's a good conversationalist to boot.   We had to plan everything without meeting in person, but she was reliable in her responses and I drove to meet her feeling confident in what I was getting and what would be involved. I'm extremely picky about where and who I get my tattoos from. The people need to be friendly and the place has to be clean. I was beyond ecstatic to realize that this shop has an amazing atmosphere. It's calm and super clean. Plus, everyone is very welcoming. Even though it is slightly off the beaten path, this place is still a gem. Please don't be fooled by the outside. We would like to caution anyone thinking of using this person. My son scheduled an appointment with this person (Jordan Jones) who stated he was booked up for months yet happen to have a cancellation (first red flag - any professional booked up 6 months would have a lengthy wait list..). Unfortunately we proceeded with the appointment which was a 2 hour drive for us. We showed up 10 minutes ahead of scheduled time to a very poorly repaired building called Horseshoe Tattoo in Lexington KY that was locked up with no one in sight..no one showed up so 10 minutes past the scheduled time my son text this person who stated "sorry man I'm waiting on my delivery it's running late...can you get breakfast I'll be there in 35-45 minutes". We left. Bad business. My husband called this so called tattoo artist and after some conversation discovered that his "delivery" he was waiting on was the materials to do the tattoo for my son?!? This was very insightful! This person who claimed to be booked up solid for months did not have the materials to complete ONE tattoo! SCARY! Jordan Jones does all of my work and I love him. He is professional, light handed, SO creative and just all around exactly what you need from your artist. I've been going to him for three years now, and plan to have him finish my entire arm before I'm done. As for the facility, it is super clean and a great atmosphere.
