Jeff Morris was my tattoo artist for my first tattoo and he did an amazing job. I have spent years thinking of this tattoo, and after my dad died I felt like it was an appropriate time to get the tattoo. The tattoo is from a Zelda game: Majora's Mask. In the game, you play the Song of Healing to help characters move on from death. I have always been a lifelong fan of the games and have always wanted a Zelda tattoo. I came up with the tattoo idea when I was 17. I have always s...truggled with depression and anxiety and I thought that the Song of Healing would help me get through it. When my dad died February 20th, the tattoo idea took on a new meaning for me. So I decided to take the idea seriously and find an artist. I immediately thought of Jeff Morris because he tattooed my sister-in-law and did an amazing job. I'm so glad I found him. He told me to stop by the shop and gave me what I consider to be a very fair price after approving the design. He was very open to communication on instagram throughout the entire process. I got there the morning of very nervous but excited. He was extremely friendly when greeting me and immediately had the designs ready. We decided on a size and ultimately the design ended up going through a slight change aesthetically. I thought I wanted a major change but after seeing it I decided I liked the original better. He was extremely nice and listened to my concerns and ideas. He understood that this was going on me forever and that I wanted it to look perfect. I can absolutely tell that Morris is a perfectionist and that is exactly what you want from your tattoo artist. He was really accommodating during the process and I felt very comfortable. He kept checking on me to make sure I was good. And the tattoo turned out to be amazing. I have had 4 people come up to me and compliment me on it and it has only been uncovered for 2 days. Everyone I have talked to said that it looks extremely well done. And I love it. I highly recommend Jeff Morris and will be recommending Jeff Morris to all my friends and family considering a tattoo. the artist, Bret Smith, is extremely undependable, though his art is good. I scheduled a consultation for which I drove 40 minutes to and pushed off work for, to arrive, wait ten minutes for the receptionist to show up, only to find that Bret was coughing and decided against coming in, after I had talked to him the night prior about coming in for the consultation the next day. I will not be going back as obviously his time is far more valuable compared to any of his clients. Read Less

Bret does a great job. I had a tattoo on my back already covered once because of bad work and had to have it covered up again. Bret did this one along with quite a bit more work on my back/arm/shoulder. Everything has healed up great over a year later. Went here to get 3 helix piercings. Don't remember exactly how much I paid, but it was a lot. A year later, my ear is still hurting and my middle piercing looked infected, so I called to get them changed, thinking a hoop would help the infection drain. I was sent to another tattoo parlor to get them taken out, since the piercer is currently out, and was absolutely astonished at what I learned from a more experienced piercer... The reason that my middle piercing was not hea...ling and looked infected was because of 2 mistakes the piercer at Mothers did. 1) she put in curved bars. Apparently, helix piercings should be pierced originally straight. But 2) and more importantly, the piercer pierced my helix at a downward angle, causing the earring to constantly rub and to not heal. If I kept the earring in, it would never be able to heal. Now, I have a huge abcess on both the front and back of that particular hole and a smaller one on another piercing that was also pierced at an angle with a curved bar. Not only do I have abcesses, but I had to take that piercing out, let it completely heal and close up, then get it re-done if I want a piercing in that spot. It will also probably grow back as scar tissue, which will create different issues if I choose to get it re-pierced. While I originally thought this place was a good place to get piercings done because the piercer was really cool and gave me a slight discount for doing 3 at one time, I now have to do what I was originally trying to avoid: wait for a piercing/hole to heal for months before I can get another piercing. I wanted 3 helix piercings, not 1 or 2. I give them 2/5 stars, because 1 of my piercings was done correctly and not at an angle, 1 piercing was done at an angle but is not as bad and can heal, but 1 piercing now has to get redone, which means wait time and more money. 4/10 would not recommend for piercings. I just got back from the second of three sessions that will round out my leg sleeve. I came to Mothers a few years back for my first tattoo because it had come highly recommended by a friend. His work spoke for itself and so I went in for a consultation with Matt, otherwise known as Chu, to figure out placement, size etc. His attention to detail is unparalleled, and here I am two years later having my entire leg tattooed by him and planning for more. Couldn't ask for a friendlier, more professional staff than the kind folks at Mothers. I will be returning in three weeks for the last phase of my sleeve, and would highly recommend Mothers and Chu if you want high quality work done in the tri-state area. Read Less

I set up an appointment with Robyn to get a somewhat intricate design on my arm. Since this was my first tattoo, I was a little nervous, but she was very calming and professional and the piece turned out better than I could have imagined.  The shop is very clean and the staff are courteous and helpful.  I would highly recommend Mother's to anyone in the tri-state area looking to get a tattoo. After getting my first tattoo in a friends basement, I had the itch to get another and decided to get it done professionally this time. I looked up places in the area, as I've only lived here for 6 months at the time. I came across mothers. First I went to the Erlanger shop and talked to the beautiful Meghan. I had pictures of what I wanted done and she told me she didn't feel comfortable enough to do a piece that complex, which i really respected and admired an artist being so honest, she referred me to Matt aka Chu... never Chewie... at the Covington shop, she even called him first to see if he was busy and had time for me and even gave me directions as I didn't know where anything was.Chu was very nice and priced me very well. I only had one other tattoo (a tiny flower on my wrist) when I decided that I had to get a huge tree on my back for my 25th birthday. I went to Mother's because it was within walking distance of my apartment at the time. The staff at Mother's was incredibly helpful as I navigated the process of getting a large piece of body art. I came in with a drawing and they talked to me about where I wanted it and how I wanted it to look. Then they matched me up with an artist who fit the style of my drawing.  Sanders was great too, he worked with me so the free fit the curve of my back and elongated the trunk. He was also super patient as I made noises and cursed at him throughout the 4 hour process. Mother's was totally cool with my friends coming with me and then they let my friends eat in the shop as I got my work done. I am not going to lie, getting a tattoo can be expensive and Mother's is no exception but I am of the mindset that if you are looking to put some ink on your body forever that looking for the cheapest place isn't the best idea. Taking the time to find the artist you want to work with is a really good plan. Read Less

On a recent midwest road trip to see some different baseball stadiums, I ventured through Kentucky awaiting a Reds game to start.  After being referred to the Covington side of the river by an old friend of mine, I went straight to Yelp to find a good tattoo shop to complete my "baseball logo" collection.  The Reds "C" was what I was after, and thankfully when I walked in only an hour before the game, they had time.  Brian, had booked himself a little extra time for some previous work that apparently hadn't taken as long as he thought.  Instead of just using that time for a break, he gladly accommodated my request for the tiny tattoo that would soon adorn my neck area (I'm really covered and don't have much "fill-in space left").  The technicality of this tattoo isn't that special, but the placement was huge and the spacing meant a lot.  Fortunately, Brian knew just what he was doing and had no problem resizing the tattoo to fit just perfectly in the small free space I had.  If I ever found myself back in the Cincinnati/Covington area, I'd head straight into this tattoo shop and get inked again (assuming I had any space left).  Thanks again for the effort Brian, I hope this review reaches you at some point. -Jake Read Less

I was in town for a week, and a few of my friends had plans to get tattoos the following day of my arrival.  Not having any other plans, I went with them to the shop, and after Brian had finished up two, I spontaneously decided to get one of my own.Brian took me in right away, and did an amazing job, meanwhile we got to watch Chu do this beautiful tattoo of a geisha on a girls back.The artist here are friendly and do great work.  Would recommend to anyone. After an exhausting search I finally settled on a local shop. Mother's came highly recommended from a heavily inked friend. I stopped in only to find the artist I was looking for had moved to the West coast. I spent some time in the shop looking at portfolios and decided on of the artists was a good match. Matt (also known as Chu) was hard to book but reasonably priced and efficient in his work. His preference for an older style of tattoo's also lent rather well to my chosen designs. Both times I've had work done, it was finished very quickly and both of my tattoos look incredible. Matt worked with me to create designs that suited my chosen placement and really went out of his way making sure they fit properly and would lay correctly with my muscular structure.The shop has a small amount of merchandise for sale, some plugs, some stainless and a few promotional items. The art on the walls is primarily tribal and the shop is professional and welcoming. Call ahead of time to set an appointment. This isn't a shop you can walk into and demand immediate service, the artists make their own schedule but will often be able to work with you. Read Less
