Anxiously, I went in not knowing anything of the store or piercings (besides my ears) to get not nostril pierced. As I walked in I was greeted by the receptionist who’s name I forgot, and was able to choose my jewelry and got seen by JJ all under 20 minutes. JJ definitely knows what he is doing and does it extremely well. He also understands that it can be a little nerve racking, so he helps calm you down with jokes and being cool about it. Last night I went into the shop to get my nose double pierced, JJ was AMAZING. He was very professional but so easy to hold a conversation with. I’ve been to a lot of different piercers and I have never felt more comfortable with a piercer. JJ is an awesome piecer. The price is a little steep, but you get what you pay for! JJ is a great conversationalist and competent at what he does. He explained step by step exactly what he was doing, double checked that I like the locations he chose while he explained why he picked them, and was very clear in his aftercare instructions. Hr made sure to show me how to jewelry worked in case there were problems (oddly enough no one had even done that for me before). Despite the fact that I was getting piercing 13 and 14 I was oddly reassured by the experience and had no negative reactions afterwards. 4 of us went to get pierced that week and we all agreed that JJ was great. I don't know what the complaints are three out of three people working at the shop approached and took immediate interest. Brandi the one chatting with my buddy immediately gave her thought and explained why she would tattoo my buddies idea the way she would and ideas on how she'd do the design.  That is awesome. Anytime I went in they said they weren't interested. I wanted my leg done - my whole leg - and they said there wasn't an artist who would be interested. I had only talked to one. Came in a different day asked asked about a second piece, still said they weren't interested. I've never heard of  a tattoo parlor turning someone away more than this place. Read Less

I was excited to get tattooed here because their work looks great. Unfortunately their customer service skills blow. I was told to go in to get a quote so I did, I spoke to Robert, he said he'd do the piece, I made an appointment and paid a deposit. Robert cancelled and it would be a few more weeks before a Saturday appointment opened up so I would have to wait. I found out I was pregnant so I gave my husband the deposit slot but Robert didn't want to do the piece my husband wanted and didn't offer a reason or any ideas for what he could/would do instead. When I was finally able to get tattooed again I contacted them. Unfortunately I needed an earlier time slot but Robert cant/won't adjust his schedule to accommodate. The shop opens at noon, but he doesn't go in until 2. Unfortunately the daycare my son goes to will only keep him until 4, so I would need to leave the shop at 330, giving us 1.5 hours to do any work. I asked if I could move the deposit to a different artist that would come in at 12, they said no because the artist I booked with has already been paid, but I could pay a new deposit to book a different artist (no thanks). I finally just asked if I could get a copy of the deposit agreement since Robert was the one who cancelled and clearly didnt want to work with me to book a new time, I was hoping I could get my deposit back. I will be taking my business elsewhere for sure. Read Less

I had the best experience at this shop! I was really nervous about getting pierced, but the staff made me feel a lot better by telling me what to expect and how to take care of my piercing. I had an awesome experience today at Black Mammoth! I chose them for the flawless reviews they've already received and I was not disappointed. Upon walking in I noticed how clean the shop itself is. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The prices are fair for the quality of work you receive. Cody even completed my tattoo in less time than expected and I couldn't be happier. Had amazing pieces of tattoo art in their books but once there they didn't give us the time of day. Was simply told that the piece wouldn't look good and that they don't do tattoos like that anymore because "everyone has them now". JJ is super nice and hands down my favorite piercer in MHK. He did my daith piercing a few months back and was very patient with me. I had to take a few extra minutes on the table to breathe and get my composure back and he stayed with me and talked me through it. Will definitely be seeing him again for future piercings. Recently in town trying to find a new artist because the guy I had been going too for the last 6 years was too far away. Tried out Black Mammoth and was completely disgusted by how I was treated. Long story short, the artist I talked too had no interest in what I wanted to get and was very rude about it. He directed me to another artist who never once looked up from his phone. That was the same guy I saw the day prior with headphones in while doing a tattoo. If you take not interest in every piece you do then you will have no business from me. Disappointed that my husband told me he had booked a tattoo appointment- with frickin Syndicate! WHYYYY?!?!? Because Adrian was being a phallus. Simply put. Acted like he didn't want my babe's business, or maybe incorrectly assumed he couldn't afford it. Consequently, he missed the patronage of a man with $2000+ bonus checks. The hubby ended up deciding he didn't want to do business with a condescending prick, so he walked down the Syndicate- and got in line behind a couple who'd also left Black Mammoth before him! I love Black Mammoth, but please remind your artists that- no matter how many awards they receive- always stay gracious and humble. Treat people with dignity and respect. Wonderful establishment, friendly staff, and kick-ass art! I'd never go anywhere else after my first visit today! Robert did an amazing job and his skills are above and beyond breathtaking! Beautiful, crisp, clean lines! Very chill environment and makes you feel like you're in your own home, but just getting a tattoo, lol! Black Mammoth Tattoo is an awesome shop. The shop itself is very modern and has a very cool vibe too it. I remember walking in for the first time and couldn't contain my excitement and wanted to walk around and check out all of the cool art work around the shop. Everyone I met at Black Mammoth was very nice starting from the secretary up to the artist. I had to reschedule an appointment due to a military issue and it was handled very quickly and professionally. I came to the... shop with a very broad idea of wanting a screaming eagle and Adrian hooked me up with a very cool piece. The eagle was my second tattoo and is remarkably better than my first from another shop here in Kansas. The line work was amazing. Even if I had to be super nit picky, I wouldn't be able to show a line that wasn't perfect. I couldn't be happier with my experience at Black Mammoth. It was my first tattoo, and I ended up feeling pretty nervous when I got there. I came by myself for a pretty sizable piece on my back. Adrian was all about figuring out what would be comfortable for me, but I ended up not moving from where we started. To contradict the ONLY bad review I've seen, he quoted me at an hourly rate and guesstimated it would take 3 hours...we didn't take any breaks, so it took an hour and a half and THAT IS WHAT HE CHARGED ME FOR. It's absolutely beautiful, and I will remember my experience here forever. I will recommend this place to absolutely everyone I know. The artists, the desk staff, everyone was welcoming, more than accommodating, and made me feel so comfortable. Once it heals, I'll be sure to tag them in any photo I post.
