Don't even waste your time trying to get appointment if you are BLACK I think they only cater to Caucasians. Had email exchange of what I wanted and everything was fine until I sent a picture of my sleeve and what I was wanting to get done. At that point it was "no we can not do that "yet it's the same art /tattoo pieces that have been done on other people coming to that shop but somehow with me it's different. I'm very disappointed it's mind blowing that in this climate we are still dealing with this kind of behavior from businesses at least let me people know upfront that you have to be a certain race to come this shop. I just recently finished up a cosmic upper back piece compliments of Carlos Ransom in mid December that took around 18 hours and 4 sessions to complete. After a couple years of serious thought and consideration, I came to Carlos with a very good final idea of what I wanted and he was able to expand upon that ten fold to give me something I hadn't even thought was a possibility. Carlos' skill as an artist is surpassed only by his efficiency and professionalism. He's genuinely... a stand up guy on top of it all and willing to work with you on several levels. I highly recommend Carlos and he's absolutely my go-to from here on out. Additionally, the facility has a nice quaint, personal feel to it which contributes to the comfort of it all. Sara(h) the receptionist is a sweetheart and very accommodating and while I didn't have the pleasure of sitting in on much of Chris' sessions, I know he also does great work and he's an awesome guy as well. That alone should send a clear message that this establishment is for people who want a custom piece that they can forever wear and show with pride. Not impressed with the service and the tattoo I received from I'm not even sure what artist. I had an appointment at 4pm and didn't get seen until 6:20pm with no explaination as to why and also at the last minute my artist was changed. They did not listen to me with the design I wanted and completely coloured it in which is not what I wanted. I am very unhappy with my tattoo and I am contemplating having it removed. I have 3 pieces, including a full back piece, ALL done by Carlos. Best artist in town, he is absolutely worth any wait time you might have to get in . I wish people would realize that having a quality, experienced and PROFESSIONAL tattoo done, you have to research, and you can't rush to get it. Rush, and let just anyone do it just because they can get you in quickly or save a few bucks is a really bad decision you will eventually come to regret at some point in your life. I'm not an easy client. With my low tolerance for pain, I've admit to doing my share of "squirming". Carlos is super patient with me and never makes me feel bad for being difficult. Besides having an awesome "bedside manner", his work is brilliant. I needed some art done on a sleeve I had started but I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. I got my first tattoo this past week at Abraxas and it was a great experience. The shop: Abraxas is in a pretty cool location up above Mass. St. Makes for good people watching so you can focus on something other than the whole "Hey, I'm getting repeatedly poked with a needle." thing. The shop was also very clean so there are no worries there. All of the tattooing equipment was opened up in front of me so I knew I was getting sterile equipment. The staff: Really awesome group of people. Super friendly, great hospitality, and knowledgeable. When I walked in I was immediately offered a drink and everyone was pretty entertaining during the whole process. The artist: Carlos Ransom did my tattoo and all I can say is wow. That is one talented guy. I've already recommended some friends to the shop because of his work. I've gotta go back for a second session to finish up my tattoo but the first portion of it looks great. Can't wait to see all of the minor details once it is fully healed.
