We are located in the Valley West mall, Lower level near Younkers. We have 3 artists:<>TAYLOR MADE<> <>FISH<><> KRISTIN YOUNG<>, that specialize in custom tattooing. Appointments available and walk-ins are welcome! **Pricing is dependent upon the amount of time involved in your tattoo; shop minimum is $50 and the hourly rate is roughly $125/hour.

Okay first off I haven't been to this location, I am actually writing this review for a friend who is much to nice to leave a bad review for a BAD tattoo. First off when you go to the store you have to sign a waiver basically saying if they f up the tattoo they are not liable and it sucks to be you. So my friend goes into this location with the intention to get her deceased friends date of birth and date of death tattooed. She brings a printed out copy of exactly what she wanted (with the exact numbers) and that's it she gets that tattooed and all is well.. NOT. THEY MISSED A NUMBER, she is too kind and passive to say anything, but she is completely heart broken about what was supposed to be a sentimental tattoo. Now she has to have this on her body for the rest of her life because one of your workers forgot a number. Your waiver is absolute bs, you need to refund the tattoo and pay for it to get removed. I feel so bad for my friend who feels helpless due to the waiver and the permanent mistake etched into her skin. --- here is her number if you want to make amends and give her a refund (515)-829-1397

Kristen did my tattoo one year ago and I have not had a single issue. She adapted perfectly to my annoyingly specific requests and I love my ink! I chose this shop because I was able to get an appointment right away, and I would go back in a heartbeat. They have a great team there!

However I had a very poor experience with a tattoo artist named taylor there. Acted very unproffessionally and childish. Ended up going elsewhere.

So amazing whole shop is clean i did alot of shopping around from shop to shop and Johnny is such a good artist he nailed what I wanted is super profesional but also all around good guy and easy to talk to and it was my first tattoo and he made me super comfortable and got my half sleeve and peck done in a very good amount of time will be going to him for as long as he's working for all my future work would highly recommend this shop to any one doesn't get better than this love color works!!!!

Fish did a piece on my left arm of butterflies and a red ribbon for EB awareness and a tribute to a child I cared for who passed away. Throughout the whole thing I didn't flinch or anything (I was proud of myself lol, but it's not my first tattoo but it is my biggest one now) and it goes from my wrist up my forearm, she made sure to keep asking if I was doing good throughout it, it took about 2, almost 3 hours and the wrist is a sensitive area, I took it like a boss haha. It ...was also a cover up for an old tattoo that was super shitty on my wrist and words cannot describe how amazing she did! Can't do nothing about the shitty artist who did the last one and left me with a bunch of scar tissue there but with the colors and "abstractness" of the butterfly it blends really well! I couldn't have asked for a better job! Definitely gonna go back in the future for much more art to be done! (: See More

I went in to get body jewelry for my nose and belly button piercing. The people in there were a lot of help and Rob was very good with me. He switched my piercing out for my belly button and put in my nose piercing which was a little hard to get in because I hadn't put anything in for a while. He did great though and took his time when it came to putting in my nose piercing. After he explained to me the differences in body jewelry and the quality of the jewelry. The reason being because I commented on how the jewelry is a little more expensive than I was use to but I'm so glad to have spent the money on good quality jewelry that I'm putting in my body. I will definitely be back!! :)

Great shop. I went in looking to get a small memorial tattoo for a late pet, and was able to get in the same day. When I told my artist, Lorelei, what I wanted and why I wanted it (and showed her the reference art I'd picked out), she immediately got excited about doing it for me, even though it's small and only took about 34-40 minutes start to finish (prep to cleanup... It was quick!). A lesser tattooer might have thought of my little paw-print as a waste of time because of... how small and simple it is, but Lorelei was almost as enthusiastic about it as I am. Here is a woman who truly loves her job, her customers, and her art! She is a delight to work with, and I'll definitely be booking her to do my bigger pieces in the future. The shop is clean and bright, with friendly front desk staff who are happy to chat. Lorelei's workstation is spotless, with gorgeous artwork on the walls (most of it she did herself!). I was given a warm welcome and was made to feel like I belonged. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. See More

I don't know why this place doesn't have any reviews yet. Maybe there's some confusion with the name - I was referred to this place as "Prysm Body Piercing", but it's called Color Works at the mall.My story goes a little something like this - I got my nose piercing in St Louis being a Chicago resident, and I came to Des Moines for a couple of days. I needed the piercing removed immediately because the placement wasn't in a good spot. My piercer referred me to Rob at Prysm, and I'm so glad she did! Rob was incredibly nice, and although the removal hurt a bit, he kept me calm during the process. I'm giving it 5 stars just because his service was amazing - Thanks Rob!

He switched my piercing out for my belly button and put in my nose piercing which was a little hard to get in because I hadn't put anything in for a while. He did great though and took his time when it came to putting in my nose piercing. After he explained to me the differences in body jewelry and the quality of the jewelry.
