Michelle did a wonderful job on my nose piercing! She was extremely knowledgeable and told me absolutely everything to know and what would happen during the piercing process and gave recommendations for the future purchases of hoops. She was very kind and I could see that everything was cleaned thoroughly and let me know that I could come in to get help putting in a hoop. Overall very helpful and professional! i am very upset that mark wont return a call to me. I prefer his work over all other artists and i am ready for more tattoos but im forced to go other places only because he refuses to tattoo me anymore for reasons beyond my knowledge. I got my upper helix pierced here two days ago and the service and everything seemed fine and i got in and done in about 20 minutes. But i wish i would've read before (i read their entire website and it says nothing about this) but they ONLY OFFER ONE EARRING you don't get to pick. i drove 30 minutes since they are the only people open on sundays and so i didn't want to turn back then (i learned i couldn't pick my earring while i was sitting in the room) it's tiny and i personally think it looks awful because i hate that style of earring but i'm stuck with it for 2 months :( if you like that i think it's a great place but i personally wish i would've known before i went Read Less

I have been to this shop on several occasions for both piercings and tattoos, and it is by far the BEST shop I've ever been to. Every single person is extremely friendly and informative every time I go there. It makes the whole experience so much better if you can joke and laugh with your artist. I don't know why I'm just getting around to reviewing but I love this shop! I've been a customer of theirs since 2013 and have gotten 8 piercings and 1 tattoo here. Not only are the extremely friendly, they are also extremely sanitary! Mark did my tattoo and not only is it an amazing tattoo, he kept me entertained the entire two hours. Gish has done 6 of my piercings and they've all healed beautifully. She was very honest about what would look good and what wouldn't. I had also gotten two from her apprentice (I can't remember her name..) and they were also great! I was her very first nose piercing and she did wonderful! Mark did a phoenix tattoo on my shoulder and it was easily the best tattoo experience I've ever had (third tattoo I've gotten so far). First of all, the tattoo turned out amazing and I couldn't be happier, Mark is also a huge part of the great experience due to the fact that we were able to carry on conversation for about 4 straight hours which made the time fly. After looking up reviews for many shops across the greater Iowa City area I decided to try my luck at Indigo after reading all the great reviews on facebook and google. After meeting some of the super friendly staff I decided to schedule my appointment with the owner of the shop who has a great reputation as an artist. The art I wanted was a bit complex considering it was a mashup tattoo of my four favorite bands and included a cosmos design and the use of negative space. Aft...er having my tattoo finished and fully touched up I must say I am speechless. I never thought what I wanted could come out as beautiful and colorful as it has, its everything I wanted and more in my tribute tattoo. Besides just doing great work the shop itself is incredibly professional and gave me great and friendly advice as to what would look best. Everyone I met at Indigo had a great attitude and made my experience there worthwhile. I had the best experience here! The place is clean and very professional. Upon walking in I was helped immediately and before even being taken back for my piercing they checked to make sure I had the right anatomy for a naval piercing. The piercers and owner are very educated with what they do and I was throughly impressed. A girl named Tish did my piercing for me and she was very reassuring and super fun! She explained every step of the process and made sure to tell me that the top of my naval was a little bit off from my bottom and that the jewelry may appear to fall a little bit more to one side. She told me that most people don't have perfect aligning naval and that it was completely normal. She pierced me fast and made sure to inform me about every aspect of the healing process. Dont listen to the good reviews they are all fake. This place is the worst. I'm scared they might of used dirty needles. I was never shown clean needles. They obviously have never worked in the healthcare industry. The Artist was highly unskilled. They act so elitist but they are breaking health codes by not producing sterilization paperwork and letting any unskilled scratcher off the street to pretend to be a skilled artist. Theowner is a psychotic who will lie and argue that his lines cant be straight because you wanted to use a quality ink set, or the fact that you have tattoos with straight tight line work from other shops he deems as home made tattoos. (YES THAT WAS HIS EXCUSE!) Its your fault. Thats not even a logical excuse for the srcribbled scrachey deformed unskilled work done here. They dont do touch up's when they screw up bad. He wouldn't even offer. He said I was being overly judgemental because I wanted to use the same ink set as my other art so it matched. Mind you he hadn't even glanced at the shitty work. And when he did all he did was stutter and get in my face screaming at me like a girl to leave his shop.When I first went in he argued with me that the simple linework was so complex. This was all done with a 9liner no needle changes. A simple geometric celtic like shape. They couldn't even line up lines that went under others. The image they took a stencil from was precise accurate. The tattoo looks like a 1st grader with crayons drew it.He charged me $350 rip off. I only used this shop because my normal shop was being renovated. I should of waited now I'll have to pay maybe  $400 to have this shit fixed. Waste of money. The con artist didn't even have the morals or balls to refund my money. He practically looked like he was about to cry because he had some dumb young girls about to get a tattoo. Read Less

I wish I could give this negative stars. I also wish I could include a picture of the tattoo I received at Indigo. I had a quote put on the top of my foot. The black is varying shades, was told by the owner I couldn't expect perfection the first time, and they could touch it up. When I said some of the letters were screwed up he asked which ones. When I pointed out the bottom of an e was not right and an r and an i had double lines (the extra line on the i is not even straight) he told me to leave the shop. I am out the money I paid Indigo for the tat and now I have to find someone else to cover their mistake, which I'm sure will not be cheap. Looks like it let me add the picture. Read Less
