Me and my wife got Logo tattoos from an anime called one piece. I had Larry working on both of us. He did exactly what we asked, and it didn't cost us a fortune. Friendly and outgoing staff. Excellent experience! I went in with a great idea of what I wanted, but Todd helped me take it to the next level. He was a monster and got through the two and a half session. Minimal bleeding and the tat is going to clean up nicely. I am asking for a somewhat difficult cover up to incorporate into my new piece and he has ideas all ready. Looking forward to going back in. Although I am from New York, he was very flexible and was able to design something for me easily. Over a course of 3 hours Stefan tattooed 2 fairly large water color designs that turned out fantastically at a very reasonable price. In addition to the water color tattoo flowers, he fixed 2 tattoos, from a different shop, that had been done incorrectly. He is the first tattoo artist I have had that is truly humble and excited about the profession at the same time. Next time I want a tattoo I will travel from New York just to get work from him. I have heard nothing but praise about Marvel for about three years now. I have been waiting for three years to get a Smaug (a dragon) tattoo as well. This tattoo was meant to go down my side though. Numerous people have told me that side/rib tattoos hurt A LOT. So I had planned to get something smaller on my other side to see if I could handle the pain. I didn't really have any artists planned out when I got there. So they wrote me in for Ryan. We didn't get a lot of time to... speak about what I wanted, because he was in the middle of an appointment, but I was surprised he didn't inquire about if I had already had a side tattoo or anything about my previous work. (I do understand artists' would like to have an idea of the client's tolerance for tattoos.) I left the image with him and came back a week later for my appointment. The image was bigger than I was planning, but again, they are the professionals and know what would look best in terms of size and details. The work was excellent, the pain was minimal, and I am deeply in love with my family crest. Since I was able to take the 'pain', I scheduled another appointment with Ryan to get Smaug done. He took images from online and drew the design himself, which was amazing. Then the wings were free drawn on my skin. The pain was a deal more the closer the work got to my breast, but still manageable. This was a month ago, and I go back in a few days to get the color done. Ryan does EXCELLENT work, and I plan to make future appointments with him. I have been to a few other shops, and have had artists that were arrogant, rude, and laugh at my ideas. So he is the ideal artist people look for. All the staff members are polite, and they all (from what I can see and hear) make pleasant conversation to customers waiting and getting worked on. ANNA was SO rude and unprofessional. Very, very poor customer service, no at all welcoming. She was complaining in front of the entire shop that a customer was leaving a message on their answering machine after their message states not to (how business savvy is that). She was rude to everyone coming in as if she just did not want to do any services. She complained while in the piercing room of the other customers asking "too many questions" and she wished they would hurry up and leave (they had only been there for 10 mins and were simply just asking for a quote on a tattoo). Terrible experience. The service was a simple ear piercing for my daughter and Anna made it a very unpleasant one. The other customers in the store were as well appalled by her manner. Read Less

Twelve years ago I got my first tattoo from Marvel. It still looks amazing! I decided for my friend's 30th we should get matching friendship tats (17 years and counting). I called as soon as they opened to make an appointment, but being a Friday night they were booked. I'm extremely picky about tattoos and how they look. I searched countless tattoo places and I was never satisfied except for Marvel. Marvel is the best in South Bend I think! Went to Marvel for a nose piercing and I have nothing but good things to say. When I called asking if they take walk ins and other general questions the guy answered all my questions well and in a very friendly manner. The shop itself is very clean and professional looking. I took my two children to get their noses pierced recently... okay, so it was actually my mom and my sister, but since they are both noobs, whilst I've had many a piercing come and go, and many a tattoo come and not go-- I felt very "wise Sensei" about the whole ordeal.ANYWAY, the whole experience at Marvel was excellent. The staff was polite and helpful, the place was clean and constantly sanitized, and the piercer Anna was amazing! I walked into Marvel Tattoo and was given extraordinary service. I asked for a double Tragus piercing and Anna looked at my ear and wasn't quite sure if two would fit. After she set everything up she took a second look and decided that she would mark my ear and see if I still wanted the two. After I made my decision of two piercings. Took my 17 y/o son to get his first tattoo....which I honestly wanted him to wait another year as I just wasn't ready for him to get something so permanent on his body. We wanted Todd to do the tattooing so I called for an appointment and was able to get my son in the next day.  We had checked out Todd's work on Marvel's website and was very impressed.  Needless to say, Todd's work lived up to our expectations and then some.  My son had an eye with two irises in it from the music group Tool.  Todd's precision and craftsmanship were amazing.  I am very, very particular and Todd's work left me speechless.  We brought a copy of the image for Todd to see and when the tattoo was done it looked like an exact replica of the image we brought.  While waiting for my son to get his tattoo done, my daughter also got another ear piercing with Anna.  She did a wonderful job and was very helpful and friendly.  The other staff there was friendly and very relaxed and welcoming.  Also the pricing I felt was very fair and reasonable for the services we received.  We are about 45 minutes away from the shop but my daughter, who has had quite a few piercings from other shops, said that she would definitely go back there for any more piercings and I have a feeling that this will not be the last that they will see of my son....even though I will still try to talk him out of it, I know he will be back somewhere in the future. Had an awesome experience as a first timer in the shop. Stephen sketched my tattoo just the way I wanted it, I should add I had to have him scale it down a bit for cost,,,,and he did so without a bit of hesitation or attitude. The place is very clean and the people that work there seem super chill but professional.My Husband came in 2 days later and had Whitey do his very first tattoo, and he was so pleased at the quality of artwork he received. His Batman Shoulder tat was amazing. Whitey handles details to a "T". Our new artwork is a week old and has healed nicely. Anna just pierced my earlobes and she stayed late on a Saturday to do it, which was very thoughtful. She was fast but not sloppy and really knew what she was doing--plus, it was cheaper than I had been quoted elsewhere.
