I called and talked to a nice man about piercing my daughter’s ears. This is a recommended piercing shop on Indy with Kids. My daughter is three, very advanced for her age and has wanted her ears pierced since she was two but I have waited until a more appropriate age. She can talk in full sentences, has been accepted to a private school, and can say clearly that she wants her ears pierced, 100 times of need be. She has been asking me everyday for two weeks. I’m not too excit...ed to take her to a tattoo shop to get her ears pierced by a man covered in tattoos and maybe piercing but I figured A) he would scare her enough to reconsider and wait or b) she would be a brave little girl and get her ear’s pierced. We are very aware parents that talk honestly with our children. This is her choice and she knows what will happen. I’ve even showed her videos and she wants it done. I would never force this on her if she chooses not to, but being a diligent parent I want a well qualified place to take my daughter. So I called this shop and talked with a very nice man that told me he’d talk to his manager because they don’t pierce ear’s until five. I asked if he could have his manager give me a call so I could explain my situation. The manager did not call back but the man did. He said his manager said they only pierce 5 and up and offered another place that pierced infants ears (a little scary on my end). My one star is because the manager did not call me back to consider my predicament with my daughter. That would have been the respectful thing to do since the man who answered heard my story and seemed like he would consider it. Got my very first piercing done Saturday and it was an amazing experience. They were clean. Sanitized stations before and after and used all new material and equipment. Got my daughter's ears pierced yesterday for her birthday. The shop was nice and clean and at first I was nervous because she's so young even though she has been begging for her ears to be pierced but they made me and her dad feel extremely comfortable Timmie was so good with her. Awesome shop . Even though I didn't get a tattoo I took my friend for one . Unfortunately he couldn't get work done because of a health issue . I'm not sure who we spoke with but the guy was great he explained everything to my buddy to make sure he understood why he won't work on him . I would definitely recommend Steel Rod tattoos. It was a little out of my way and in an interesting part of town but that did not detract from the fact that Tim was very friendly and did a fabulous job fixing another artist's mess up! I did ask for a little less pain but he said I paid for that also. ~rats~ I love my tattoo now. I will go back there for the big tattoo on my back. My sister was visiting me from out of town, and we decided to go get tattoos together (this was something we had talked about doing, but made the plans spontaneously). I called one other place first, but they were booked through the weekend. When I called Steel Rod, Eric answered and told me to come on in. He was happy to do both of our tattoos that night, even though he had to stay after closing to finish. My sister got a word on the inside of her foot, and I got a good sized collarbone tat. Took my wife last night for her birthday.  This was the first time I have even been in a shop, abd this was her first ink.  Alex was great when I stopped in and made my appointment.  When we came back 2 days later, he remembered that it was her birthday, and really went out of his way to take care of us.  He answered every question that we had, made good conversation, and most importantly drew a beautiful tattoo. The shop was well lit and clean, and the staff was very knowledgable and professional.For an a couple of people that probably looked a bit out of place in terms of not having any ink or piercings when we walked in,  they made us feel right at home.  If i ever choose to get one, I will definitely be returning.  Thanks to Alex R. for providing a great experience. Best work I've had so far, and in one of the cleanest, coolest shops I've seen so far. It's not in the best part of town, but it's a great place. Ask for Biggins. He's an awesome artist and very professional. If you come in with a serious attitude and want to get good work done, he'll make sure you get what you are looking forward to. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the man's name that did my belly button piercing. However, he did an incredible job! Yes it definitely hurt, but it depends on how thick your skin is on your belly. He prepared me for the needle stick and after it was over, it was DEFINITELY worth it. I'd refer them to anyone wanting a piercing. The tattooing I am unsure of ONLY because I haven't gotten one yet. I plan to get one very soon, so I'll be glad to inform the readers of my experience. DO NOT go to anyone that doesn't work in a shop and/or without a license, that is the WORST thing to do. My sister illegally got her first tat done by some boy we went to school with and it was sloppy, let alone the worst work I've ever seen. Only person I can recommend is her certain tattooer, Biz. Other than that, stick to shop-workers. Piercings outside of a shop can get infected quickly and end up crooked and/or pierced in the wrong area. BE SMART AND GO TO A SHOP! Good luck to all! I got two tattoos from Steel Rod in October 2010.  I have seven total tattoos, and I can say that the artistry at Steel Rod is top notch. In fact, I liked everything about Steel Rod, and it was the best tattooing experience of my life. My artist, Roger, spent a lot of time making sure my design was correct and even researched the history of the piece I wanted.  I will certainly take my business back to this shop.The shop is in a seedy area...but don't let that deter you.  The shop is very professional, very, very clean, and the prices are more than fair. The inside is also very interesting, and with all of the memorabilia they have, you feel as though you've stepped back in time (although all of their piercing and tattooing equipment is modern). So i was refered to Biggins from a female that i work with. I told her that I wanted some letters on me but I wanted them to be original, not like others i have seen before... He did some work on her that was totally cold!!!!! I liked the detail that he did, it looked really professionsal. I went in there yesterday and told him what i wanted, not only was he a cool guy.... The price was right, the letters where exactly how i wanted them and the shading was sick..... When it was done i couldnt wait to go show it off.... I am an account coordinator and I have been sending pics of my new tatt all day. I have gotten nothing but postive feedback which i knew i would receive.
