I called ahead and came in when they said they would have time. I wanted to get several small text tattoos; the artist said it would probably take him about 30 minutes, no big deal, but then quoted me $300. I had already explained that often I get multiple small text tattoos at a time and have been charged by the hour, but they don't charge by the hour here. He said he was trying to do me a favor, ten small tattoos at a $60 minimum each would be $600, so he cut it in half. I explained I have never been charged this much for this simple amount and kind of work, even in cities with higher minimums and rents, and his colleague muttered under his breath, "she doesn't like $300; charge her $600 then." It was extremely unprofessional. I won't be going back. We ended up going to a different shop later in the day, where the artist was happy to help me out with my request, and he said he didn't even know Mass Ave Tattoo was still open because all of their good artists had moved on. I had such a great experience at Mass Ave Tattoo. Patrick was my artist and he was very kind and patient through the entire process. This was my first tattoo and I was getting in honor of my Dad who recently passed away. I brought in a letter my Dad had wrote to me and wanted his handwriting tattooed on my forearm. It took a few sketches but Patrick came up with resemblance of my Dad's handwriting. I absolutely love my tattoo. Patrick is the man. The shop is super clean as well. Great experience at Mass Ave Tattoo! I have had 3 tattoos done here, all with Devin Silver, and they turned out great. I have done both walk-ins and formal appointments, and both are easy and comfortable to setup. Everyone who works at Mass Ave is professional, and with that comes professional attitude. Word of advice: check out their instagram page to check out their style, and come into the appointment/walk-in with an idea of what you want and where you want it. I’ve come to this shop 4-5 times and always leave satisfied. John Deweese is a professional in every sense of the word. I haven’t worked with the other artists but I know folks who have and they say the same thing. Professionals. His enthusiasm is palpable when I bring an idea to him. I mean it's a tattoo shop. You're either in or you're out. The place is conveniently located near the end of mass ave. Tons of tattoo flash cover every wall and lots of natural lighting.Patrick is an expert tattooer. Is that the proper term? Anyways he helped a friend and myself get tatted. We made an appointment a week in advance. Within 4 hours, we have new tattoos! I got my first tattoo here and the entire time Jacob was making sure I was comfortable. The shop is very clean and the workers are very attentive. I chose Mass Ave Tattoos because Ron Fox is family to a good friend of mine and I've see his work, so I knew I could trust that he would take my ideas and make them happen.  And he totally did!  I needed some additional work added to an existing tattoo and I only knew that I wanted a butterfly and some words. He drew out the butterfly and the words, placed them where they would look amazing and made it happen.  I couldn't be any more impressed with his work.  My tattoo looks amazing and beautiful and aas exactly what I wanted but only had it in my head. We had Ron Fox.My boyfriend and I walked in without an appointment and it was not a problem at all. It was my first tat and his 3rd. I brought it a picture of what we wanted (it was one word) and he did exactly what we wanted. He asked how I was doing since it was my first one. He cared about his work, and took his time. The lines were extremely clean and smooth. Definitely only going there from here on out. I did a lot of research beforehand which is what drew us there. They even provided some free aftercare which we both love! My boyfriend will be going there when he gets his sleeve done. Ron even recommended me an amazing piercer that he highly recommends, and gave me the guy's cell phone number. This place is only tattoos, which shows how much they care about their art and don't need the other income. Great experience overall. Read Less

My wife's been wanting a tattoo since she was a teen. She finally found one she really liked and decided that the next time we had a babysitter for our kids, she'd go get it. Being her first tattoo, she was a little nervous and brought me along for moral support. We picked Mass Ave Tattoo based on reputation, the art she saw on their website, and my being a Mass Ave kid back in the day (I used to be a barista at the Abbey). We couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Everybody there was super friendly and accommodating. I've been going to this shop for a year and half now, and I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else! The shop is always clean and the guys are always nice. Kenny Stewart has been doing my tattoos since I have started going and I have never been disappointed.  His work is ALWAYS solid and clean and we always collaborate really well on ideas so we can make sure I get the best tattoo for me.  Not to mention he's a genuinely nice guy which is hard to come by in most shops today! If you're looking for a tattoo artist or just want a spur of the moment tattoo you definitely need to go to Kenny! It will always be solid and clean and something  you'll love forever.
