This review is based on customer service, not quality of work. I went their August of last year (2016) to set up a tattoo for my husband and I. I talked with trinity as my mom has worked with her before. We set up a time and date for October as her schedule was full. Literally 3 hours later, we got the wedding invite for my brother n laws wedding and they asked for our children to be ring bearers and flower girl. I messaged her the next morning to let her know (by email) she messaged me back about a week later and asked when. Not knowing her schedule i asked when she was available and if it could just be for my tattoo as for wedding expensive thrown on us last minute we could not afford my husbands as well. I emailed her several times, I called the shop their on several occasions to get a hold of her. They said they took my name and number and gave it to her as she was always out of the office or working on client and still no call back or email either. I put down $80 and never received that back either. I do not live close but because my mother had got some good work from her i wanted to pass my business along. High Caliber is the absolute best place for all the work you want, or need done. The staff is simply the best in the west. I have recommended this place to all of my friends, and I have never heard a complaint yet. All of the artists are top notch, and incredible at what they do. I got my first tattoo done here by Corey. It was my 18th birthday present from my uncle. I got the Deathly Hallows symbol and it is perfect! He was so nice and as it was my first tattoo he made me feel very relaxed and walked me through the whole process. I also got my second tattoo done here by Trinity, it was a graduation present from my uncle. It is the absolute best tattoo I have! It's the word "always" from Harry Potter. She even did some shading around it to make it look even better! Both of my experiences here have been incredible. I made the mistake of going to a different shop for my other two tattoos. I will definitely be going here soon to get a cover up piece for my back. I recommend this shop and all the artists to every single one of my friends! I went to High Caliber to get my Industrial piercing done about 2 months ago. The other day i went to the mall to get a different bar for my ear. While I was talking to the lady , which had a lot of experience with piercings told me that the way the bar is pierced in my ear is not positioned the right way. She asked me where i had got it done i told her High Caliber and she knew where it was and told me that this place was not ideal for getting piercings. She told me to try a place called Midwest Tattooing Company on 56th nad Keystone and that they have better piercings and they do it the right way. I just wanted to say that when i went home that night I tryed my bar out in my ear , it does not fit because the person who pierced my ear put it up too high. And one more thing i will not be coming back for anyother piercings or tattoos. Read Less

It's owned and ran by completely different people. I've been to and had work done by many shops around town and ""High Caliber"" is one of the most professional,friendliest,cleanest, and above all most knowledgeable shops in the city. If you want a really jacked nipples or an eye brow go see Mickey that fun loving guy.(not even close to nice) But he dose not care if your under age, I don't think they ever have asked for an ID I will never go to this place ever again! I was looking for a while for someone to do a very personal tattoo for me but never came across the right type of atmosphere that made me feel comfortable. I had been to High Calibur before and and they were always very considerate and polite from the minute I walked in the door and their designs are amazing. You know I visited Indianapolis a while back to visit family, and decided it was time for myself an other family members to get tattoos that we had be planning for quite some time. Our tattoos were for a family member who passed away, we had talked about ideas but really had nothing set in stone. For some of us tattoos were no big deal, but then for others it was our first rodeo. We had checked out other places, priced some work and talked to different artists to feel out the places, but we just didn't get a great welcome let alone a good vibe. When we got to High Caliber it was a different feel. It looks like a big house but when you walk in its like a twist between a history museum, library and Zen garden. All the artists were friendly and spoke to us as they passed. There were other clients laughing and having enjoyable experiences and showing off their art. We didn't wait to long before our artists started to put together some ideas. While we were waiting Bobby the owner and artist, showed us around and I think even if you visited High Caliber everyday you would always notice something new and interesting to see. We proceeded to the back and never would you think all of these heavily tattooed artists would have a beautiful secret garden full of tree and flowers, fountains and statues, birds,even paths to walk. I guess you should never judge a book by it's cover. We had 4 artists and even one of the family decided to get a piercing. Micky was very professional, clean and had a huge selection of jewelry to choose from. The piercing room was full of amazing horror movie collectibles new and old, a little scary, but he made us comfortable regardless. The High Caliber artists came up with multiple custom pieces to accommodate all six of our styles and tastes, we knew we wouldn't see our tattoos walking around on other people, they were just for us! They are open from 12 to 9 pm but they stayed late to get us all done because some of us were heading home the following day. We got to also see many awards (and by the way every artist there has won more than one!) and their multiple appearances in reparable tattoo magazines in the past few months. They even have a woman tattoo artist, Trinity, that made a couple of us ladies feel more comfortable. They have lots of music to choose from so we all felt at home. Their apprentice cleaned after every tattoo, and helped the process move right along, he even ran to the local eateries to get us food and drinks. All of our needles and equipment was shown to us before hand to reassure their cleanliness for our health. When we were finished we were given very specific aftercare instructions which is better for us who have never taken care of a tattoo, it's not as simple as you think. Overall High Caliber took the prize. I read some of the reviews from years ago that were posted and I can assure you this is not the same crew or owner, only the same building. This made me more compelled to write on this tattoo shop. I would recommend them for anyone, even people where I'm from. I tell them the distance is worth the trip. Last I heard it was atomic tattoo, and they had a beauty salon/ tattoo shop, (which i thought that it was illegal to have the harsh chemicals of a beauty salon with the tattoo shop) and it wasnt clean, and the body piercer there was not friendly. My cousin who was 17 got her nipples pierced there without parental consent, I do not know if her parents are going to do anything, but last i heard you couldnt pierce anybodys genitals or nipples if they are under 18, even with parental consent, that it falls under statutory rpe, if anybody knows any more about this law, please email me, but that is what the piercer at metamorphisis said. I dunno. anyway, i cant reccomend them for that reason. Pricey too, they wanted to charge my boyfriend $600 for six letters on his stomach. Read Less
