I came here to get a tattoo from Devan Smith and my husband has been tattooed by April. This shop is full of amazing artists. All of them are talented! It was easy to schedule an appointment (I did mine via email and you should check the website to see how each artist prefers to schedule). Prices were fair and the work is amazing. If there's a waitlist, don't be discouraged. This is a tattoo for life, so definitely come here so you know the work is of high quality. Fountain Square Tattoo is hands down one of the top of the shops in Indianapolis. The work they do is superb, the people are amazing, the atmosphere is very comforting. Working with Dane on a full sleeve. I would have to say that just the first day session, I could see not only that everyone was highly experienced but very kind. Everyone in the shop made it feel like a very welcoming atmosphere. Dane in particular made sure I was good the whole time and engaged me in conversation which helped the long session. Brian was the person who did my tattoo. At first he responded quickly and gave reasonable quotes for the tattoos that I asked to be quoted. I was a little skeptical as to why he could always respond so fast considering I would have thought he would be working but I didn't think twice about it till now. I gave him my number in the emails after all was set and done and was waiting on a sketch. A few days went past and still no sketch and it's now quite sometime after he said he would have had the sketch to me. I wasn't sure if something happened and he wasn't replying to any of my emails on the day of that I'm supposed to be getting the tattoo. I simply just called the shop and the lady on the phone confirmed my appointment at 3. When I get to the shop everyone seemed really nice. Brian explained that the picture of the sketch wouldn't go through in email but that doesn't mean he couldn't have called or texted or even just reply to the email where I had asked if the appointment is still on. So he shows me the sketch and I loved it. Long story kinda shorter... he overworked the bottom of the tattoo like crazy so much so I cant even make out some of the roses. The tattoo took a lot longer than he thought it would have and he had other customers coming in after me. Knowing this he rushed the top of my tattoo. There are many places at the top of the tattoo where he has went out of the lines, missed places and the line work isn't the best. There's one place on a pedal maybe where it looks like he just ran the tattoo gun over it once and that's all because there's just hundreds of tiny dots there within a inch(picture is attached). Also towards the top I have a green blowout where he went to deep into my skin. The healing process was awful. The third day I had huge thick scabs on the bottom of the tattoo where he overworked the tattoo. You can see where he missed a lot of spots with shading. Since he didn't plan time very well this tattoo was rushed, he gave me no time to look at the tattoo and say what I did and didn't like, and when I asked about aftercare he told me to not use fragrance lotions and that's all, then we were rushed out the door so he could help the people after me. My arm was swollen, red, and painful for weeks(it shouldn't have lasted near as long as it did). During the process he even told me he knows he's really kicking my ass with this tattoo because of time... he was doing the top part of the tattoo extremely fast. I took no breaks for myself and I never moved. Also he doesn't talk much at all (that's fine) but when you do talk to him he makes you feel like he wants you to stop. This has been the worst tattoo experience of my life and now I have awful scaring on my arm, and am embarrassed to show people this tattoo and I have to find someone new to redo the entire thing. Some places are so dark I might even have to have some lasered off to have it redone. I was going to have him touch up some of my other tattoos but we obviously ran out of time and I will defiantly never go back. I'm not saying don't go to Fountain Square Tattoo... I'm saying think twice about having Brian as your tattoo artists. You may regret it. Read Less

Chill and friendly staff and artists with reasonable prices. The most important and crucial thing though is, they do excellent work! Just had a big piece done on my right arm, which took well over an hour, looks amazing, and only charged $100. If you want great work done, I recommend asking for Brian. Read Less

Fountain Square Tattoo is clean and they work hard to fit you into their schedules. Its hit or miss if you need a reservation, but most of the time they have you come in to discuss. The artists are talented, the parlor is clean, and they produce great work! I had a fine line tattoo done and love it. They are so laid back it makes the process that much better. I was very lucky to be able to get this piece done by Dane with living 3 hours away. Had the best experience during. Very relaxing and comfortable place to be in. was defiantly easy for me to have a good conversation with the people in there to keep my mind off during the process. Great new shop in Indy! I haven't visited yet, but have work from two of the artists who opened it, and know that they are honest and hardworking, as well as phenomenal artists. Devan created a beautiful and meaningful custom piece for me that is my absolute favorite tattoo. Such a cool vibe in this new shop. As soon as you walk in, you can feel that you are in a quality place. Everyone was friendly and helpful. My tattoo is so awesome. I'm so pleased with how it came out. Dane Smith made me feel like we were working together to find what I wanted but yet curb me to smart decisions on placement and size. Will definitely return. I found this nice little tattoo spot because my favorite Indy tattoo artist Devan and Dane moved here so I followed.  I am always o pleased with the customer service and commitment to clean and sanitary environment!  They as well as the other artist in the shop are very skilled at what they do and can just about anything you need!! I'm sure I will be back when I decide what my next design will be and I definitely I recommend this shop as a good place to get inked!!
