I have had 5 of my 6 tattoos done by multiple artist at studio 13 and have loved their work in the past and would always recommend them to anyone looking for a quality tattoo and a friendly environment to get it. Not the case anymore. I myself do not plan on going back and wouldn’t recommend it any longer as they do not stand behind the work done in their shop or when they offer you a “free touch up”. A month ago I went into the shop to set an appointment to have a tattoo I had done less than a year ago touched up (some of the areas were a little spotty and not filled in completely). I was told the touch up would have to be done by another artist as the one who did the work in the first place had moved on to a different shop, but that it wouldn’t be a problem and they would be able to touch it up free of charge, but to feel free to leave a tip. The two men at the front desk asked to take photos of my arm and the areas that needed to be touched up so they could show the artist ahead of time what needed to be done. We took a couple photos, I had my appointment set for a month from then and left. A month later my appointment time comes and I go in only to be told that it is “impossible” to touch up another artist’s work without knowing the exact colors that were used. I was told they are only able to touch up line work/work in black ink. I was told my only option would be to “completely change the look of the tattoo” by covering the entire flower rather than touching up the small area that needed to be done. I was also going to be charged for this if that was the route I wanted. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this place for a tattoo that covers my entire forearm, yet they cannot stand behind the work completed in their shop. If you get a tattoo done at Studio 13 make sure your artist doesn’t plan on leaving because the shop itself doesn’t care about customer satisfaction, clearly. And with taking photos to show the artist what needed to be done I should have received a phone call to let me know this was “impossible” before wasting my time driving out to a shop that wasn’t planning on doing the work in the first place. I have since contacted the original artist and will be getting it touched up by her. I will take my future business and referrals to a place that conducts business properly, stands by their work and their word. Read Less

My first impression is that it is very clean. Very spacious waiting area. The consultation went well. The artist listened to all of my ideas and offered feedback relevant to me. I've gotten two tattoos done by Kay Allday in the past month, and I have nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience. Everyone who works there is friendly and professional. When you walk in, you're greeted immediately, and they take the time to answer your questions and explain the process to you. When I came back the second time, they remembered my name, who did my tattoo last time and what I got - which was really amazing and made me feel valued as a customer (and person). Austin Fields did my tattoo a few weeks ago. It was my first tattoo, and he was awesome with emailing me back and forth about the whole thing, answering all my questions. My tattoo turned out awesome.I had never been to Studio 13 before, and was really happy when I walked in, and saw how great the inside looked - plenty of light coming in, clean, semi-private spaces for each artist. The man at the front desk was very pleasant, explained the electronic paperwork to me, and my appointment was on time. After Austin was finished, my picture was taken with the studio's camera, and then they offered to take pictures of it on my phone for me, which I really appreciated. I've been in several shops in Fort Wayne and nothing beats Studio 13. The atmosphere is awesome and everyone is super nice. I just got my second tattoo from Studio 13 yesterday, and once again it was an excellent experience. I've stopped in several times to ask questions over the years and they've always been helpful and friendly, and this time was no exception. I worked with Austin Fields and he absolutely killed it. I went in to my consultation with a few samples and he executed it better than I hoped. Hardly a week has gone by in the ~year since Kay did my quarter sleeve that I haven't gotten compliments on it (including from other artists). Just went in today as a walk-in for a consultation. The gent at the front desk was very attentive and helpful. Mike, who was the artist I asked for based on the portfolio books and images online, was luckily available to meet with me. Very professional and welcoming to me as a first-timer. He listened to what I wanted, looked over my image I brought on my phone, and offered some aesthetic recommendations. He quoted the job to me, drew a rough on a form so he had something to return to for planning/drawing, went over their policies, got my deposit and I set an appointment for two weeks out. We visited this location on 06/18.  We had several family members in town from various locations around the US to complete a color run for our Non Profit that was started in the name of our 21 year old who committed suicide.  We wanted to get a family tattoo while we were all together.  We called ahead and were told no minimum and to stop by.  We drove an hour to get to Ft Wayne and then were told $100 minimum regardless of size.  Considering there were 5 of us and they were various sizes, from smaller than a dime to as large as a baseball, $500 is way too much.  $100 for any one of those, was way too much.  My tattoo artist is one of the best in the Country in Scottsdale, AZ at Wisemagic and his minimum is $50.  And when it comes to a Non-Profit, he would have done them for free or a donation and accommodated 5 people together.  There are many options out there, make sure you call ahead and read the reviews.I never asked for a free tattoo from your studio.  I stated that my tattoo artist would have done this.  The problem is that out of the 5 people, I am the only one that lives in Arizona.  My complaint was that we were told no minimum when we called.  Yet we drove an hour and then were told $100 minimum.  This information would have been helpful on the phone prior to driving. Not to mention this studio is in the ghetto.  Sorry if that's all you got out of my original post.I feel like you're grasping at straws and not reading the review to better your business.  We were there on 06/18.  We called ahead and told the guy exactly what we wanted.  When we arrived the guy at the desk (tall, plugs in his ears) had the ribbons drawn up and sitting there.  Yes, we were there.  We had gone to the mall prior to get Starbucks.  We pulled out of the mall and went left.  It was down a couple lights on the right.  In a strip mall, at the end.  It's a small, narrow place.  Smelled very clean and we were excited about that.  I am not familiar with the Ft Wayne area, but the whole area including the mall was ghetto to me.  There was an Asian couple sitting to the left when we walked in.  There was a tattoo artist in the first table cleaning his area getting ready to take them back.  I don't understand why you can't just accept the fact that it was a bad experience for us.  Learn from this and move forward.  That's all this site is about. As with most reviews, they usually only happen if you have had a bad experience. That being said, this was not based on a bad experience, but rather, a lack of communication I believe. I was signed up to get a tattoo here, put down my deposit and just got word of a family issue and have to leave town to take care of it. Called to let them know and learned that since it was not in a 96 hour window, I lose my deposit and will have to make another to get a tattoo. This has me a little upset, mainly because I was not told of a 96 cancellation period when I put the money down. And the fact that is a family issue that needs immediate action, should fall under a different category. But, I understand a business model is something that has worked for them and do not hold them to fault, just letting my experience be known.I don't think I shall be rescheduling, since I have already lost my down payment and this has put a sour note in me. I couldn't imagine getting a tattoo here. My husband and I walked in and right away the guy treated us attitude and talked down to us. They were also incredibly overpriced. We took our business elsewhere for half the price with a tattoo artist that had a better attitude and did a phenomenal job. Found out the guy who quotes at Studio 13 was the owner. A tip to you sir, if you don't want people's business, then just say it. If the owner of a business doesn't care, what does that say about the business? It's not worth going to. I had my first tattoo done by Mike Mankin, and I was completely blown away at how professional and courteous Mike and the rest of the staff were. Since this was my first tattoo I wanted it to look especially sharp and worthy of the "wow" factor.  I was happier to pay extra (and it's not cheap by any means) to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and one that looks like it was done by a true professional.  Mike delivered on that requirement, and really took care of me since it was my first one, and I could not be happier with the result.  This was done last August, and I'm getting ready to reschedule with my next Tattoo in May. Way back in 2007, I got my very first tattoo at studio 13. As a tattoo virgin at the time, I had no idea what to expect. The guys at the shop immediately made me feel at ease. The shop was immaculate, well designed, and I would have been comfortable working with any artist. Definitely an awesome first tatt experience. And 7 years later, my piece still looks great.
