Dave Sloan, Kiersten Lockwood, Felipe Ramos, and Chris Summers are all professionally trained, and happy to assist you with all of your piercing and tattooing needs, as well as to answer any and all questions.

This review is about the piercing side of the business. I chose to take my four year old here to get her ears pierced, rather than some shop in the mall. There were tons of great reviews and a news article a few years back about how well they do it here. The shop is clean, staff is friendly, and there's all kinds of cool things to look at to distract you.We called ahead for an appointment, but they take walk-ins, too. Chris is WONDERFUL with kids. He pulled me aside to find out my child's interests so he could build a rapport with her before piercing. Very long story short, he was super patient and great with her, but after 45 minutes of trying to work with her she just wasn't ready to be pierced. Chris made it very clear to her and to us that he did not consider it to be a waste of his time. He was also very clear to our kiddo that it was HER choice to be pierced and he absolutely would not do it unless she wanted it. It was heartwarming to me and empowering to her to see him be clear that she had agency over what was happening to her. He said it was no charge for the visit since he didn't actually pierce her. I tipped him anyway for his time. He seemed surprised to be tipped, which made me sad. I wonder how many other times through no fault of his, kids back out of piercings and the parents just walk out. Tip for time, people!In a few months or a year when the kid is really ready, we absolutely will be back to have Chris pierce her ears.

She majored in art in college and is as good as anyone in the city. She specializes in super cool watercolor, but did a Celtic tree tattoo on my wife and did very well too. Chris recently pierced my 10yo daughter's ears. Even though she had been looking forward to it, she was a ball of anxiety once there. He was very patient with her, walked her through ever step, laughed with her and made it a great experience. I appreciate that he took time to make sure the piercings would be in the perfect spot on her lobes. A week later, she hasn't complained once about pain.

He made my family feel welcome and relaxed while he did the procedures. Chris cares about proper piercing and healing and I would recommend him over the cheap chain stores in the mall. He also runs a clean shop with lots of interesting art and fun decor.

He took his time, told them what to expect, and provided very clear after care instructions. The place and the instruments were very clean. I would recommend this place even for young people to receive their first ear piercings!

Chris was phenomenal. I messaged ahead of time to ask about my daith. It is super small and I was concerned about whether or not it could be pierced. He is ambidextrous, so he said it wouldn't be a problem. Sure enough, I got there and he was very polite, answered all of my questions, and could not have been more professional. The piercing was a breeze, and if I had gone somewhere else, I would not have been able to have had it done at all.

I was really satisfied and would come here for another piercing in a second.On a side note the tattoo artist should be careful of the types of tattoos they are mocking because the person in the waiting area could possibly have that type of art of their body. While I was there there was one artist that was mocking anchors on women (to her credit the clients did start the conversation). There I sit with a big old anchor tattoo. Made it uncomfortable for me with the "typical white girl tattoo".So I would come here again for a piercing but not for a tattoo. Remember what is one persons thing may not be another persons thing.

Free Hand body art and piercing is definitely the best tattoo studio I've ever been at I had my tattoo started by somebody else they didn't share my vision their technique was too rough and lousy bedside manners, thought they were all that, when I went to Free Hand not only did Dave Sloan did what I wanted but saw my vision and did beyond my expectations with his imagination and skill not like the other artist from the other studio had lack thereof, the studio previously said my mountain couldn't be done because it wouldn't look right Dave was not only is more professional and gifted than the other studios I was having work done at but his room is decked out with awards and very clean, Dave was very gentle and got a ton of work done in the time frame without compromising the integrity of the tattoo ,also had the newest tattoo guns and equipment, I am so happy with Free Hand studio I definitely will be returning to get my other tattoos done

This review is about the piercing side of the business. I chose to take my four year old here to get her ears pierced, rather than some shop in the mall. There were tons of great reviews and a news article a few years back about how well they do it here. Chris recently pierced my 10yo daughter's ears. Even though she had been looking forward to it, she was a ball of anxiety once there. He was very patient with her, walked her through ever step, laughed with her and made it a great experience. I appreciate that he took time to make sure the piercings would be in the perfect spot on her lobes. A week later, she hasn't complained once about pain.

Chris was phenomenal. I messaged ahead of time to ask about my daith. It is super small and I was concerned about whether or not it could be pierced. He is ambidextrous, so he said it wouldn't be a problem. Sure enough, I got there and he was very polite, answered all of my questions, and could not have been more professional. The piercing was a breeze, and if I had gone somewhere else, I would not have been able to have had it done at all.

I sent messages asking several questions and received responses quickly. And they answered all of my questions. I actually got to message with Chris, the piercer, and when I finally was able to make it to their shop he knew who I was when I walked in the door! Everyone there are easy to talk with. Chris made getting a painful piercing very fast and easy. I would highly recommend Free Hand Body Art to anyone!

I was really satisfied and would come here for another piercing in a second.On a side note the tattoo artist should be careful of the types of tattoos they are mocking because the person in the waiting area could possibly have that type of art of their body. While I was there there was one artist that was mocking anchors on women (to her credit the clients did start the conversation). There I sit with a big old anchor tattoo. Made it uncomfortable for me with the "typical white girl tattoo".So I would come here again for a piercing but not for a tattoo. Remember what is one persons thing may not be another persons thing.

Really nice relaxed & friendly atmosphere, was able to get my piercing done very quickly (but was not made to feel rushed, since I was waiting on a friend for moral support) without an appointment, less than an hour before they closed. Chris was awesome in explaining things & making the whole process super easy. I will definitely go to him again in the future!

Free Hand body art and piercing is definitely the best tattoo studio I've ever been at I had my tattoo started by somebody else they didn't share my vision their technique was too rough and lousy bedside manners, thought they were all that, when I went to Free Hand not only did Dave Sloan did what I wanted but saw my vision and did beyond my expectations with his imagination and skill not like the other artist from the other studio had lack thereof, the studio previously said my mountain couldn't be done because it wouldn't look right Dave was not only is more professional and gifted than the other studios I was having work done at but his room is decked out with awards and very clean, Dave was very gentle and got a ton of work done in the time frame without compromising the integrity of the tattoo ,also had the newest tattoo guns and equipment, I am so happy with Free Hand studio I definitely will be returning to get my other tattoos done
