The artist that work here do amazing work. I'll simply state the facts of my experience with venture artist Anthony. Booked a November appointment in September. Paid the $200 deposit and sent in several reference photos. Got a follow up call to confirm the appointment. Everything seemed smooth. I'm told my appointment will be from 10am-4pm. The day before the appointment I'm asked to come in later (around noon) as he has something to do in the morning. I come on time basically to talk about the same thing we spoke about in September. After he works on the stencil, he tattooed me from 2-4pm. About 40% of the original concept we spoke about and stated we'll need another session. His website states a "big session" is $1000 and last 4-6 hours. His words not mine. My tattoo was 2 hours and he charged me $1000. Not complaining because the work was excellent. I had already booked a second session later on in the month expecting 2 sessions after the consultation. The day before the second session comes and I'm pumped to finally finish my piece, he calls and cancels. Tells me "something came up" and wanted to rebook. I state no problem, he books me for the next day. 2 hours before that appointment, he texts and cancels again, stating he'll call me tomorrow to rebook. I haven't received a call. I've emailed with no reply. No response on any messages through social media. Now I have a half finished tattoo. I'll be going else where to get my piece finished. Read Less

I originally got my nipples pierced at a different shop in the city that was very expensive and never fully healed. They did one of the piercings too deep. I came here trying to get help and new jewelry because the original ones were also way too long and continually moved back and forth. I've gotten a couple pieces from Eris and Jr. Great work. Clean shop. I've been going to them since they were still at The Constable a few years back. I started a sleeve with Jr a couple years back. Months before the appointment I was quoted a price but on the day of the tattoo, we got about half way done with the sleeve and discussed the next appointment, which is when he quoted me another price $600 MORE than originally quoted, after I've already put almost $1500 into my arm!! When I confronted him about it, he claimed to have "deleted" his emails and not see it. I got busy with school and was unable to finish for some time. Recently I emailed Jr again to discuss finishing it and he ignored me yet again. I have scheduled to finish with someone else from a different shop who is happy to finish it for me. Seems like Jr only sees dollar signs now and couldn't care less about losing long time customers or finishing his work. It's a shame. Amazing work... bad customer service and attitude. Read Less

My husband and I found Anthony J. and Venture Tattoo when searching for fantastic realistic black & gray tattoo artists in the Chicago area who would be able to do tattoos in memory of our daughter. When we found Venture Tattoo, we fell in love with everyone's work and knew that they were the ones who would be able to do a fantastic job. We emailed Anthony some ideas for tattoos, and about 10 days later, we were excited to hear that he would be interested in meeting up with us to go over designs and set up an appointment.A few things about the shop in general:The shop is so clean and organized (seriously - it's cleaner than most doctors' offices I've been in). The artists are all fun yet very professional, polite and are perfectionists when it comes to doing their artwork. The artists are booked out weeks and in some cases months out, but it's because they're all FANTASTIC and are in high demand. You definitely get what you pay for with them.Anthony kindly booked both our tattoos for the same day for a few weeks later. The day of the appointment, he sat with me and went over the design making it personalized for my daughter while also incorporating his own style. This is a great place to take kids for ear piercing. Took my six year old daughter today and it went very well. Made appointment with Jeffrey via email. There is a private piercing room. He was so professional and explained everything while taking great care in keeping everything sterilized. She didn't even utter a squeak while he pierced her ears, one at a time. After, she jumped up and down, she loved them so much.You pick out earrings when you get there from a nice selection. On your way in, you will walk by everyone getting tattoos, so either mention it to your child beforehand or be ready for questions. My daughter was fascinated. Jr. Diaz is the most talented tattoo artist ever. I presented him with an idea, a couple pictures, and he created a masterpiece. He autoclaved everything, wore gloves, etc. All the good, clean, courteous professional stuff you want see when someone is about to poke a hole in your body. He was very solicitous and made sure I was comfortable and that all my questions were answered and that I knew that aftercare had changed since my last piercings. Took our baby daughter to get her ears pierced here and I have to say I highly recommend this place! Jeff did our daughter's piercing and he was so nice and sweet and walked us through the whole process of the piercing and made us feel a lot calmer about the whole process. Jeff is very knowledge and professional and the entire studio including the piercing room was soooo clean and hygienic and he even sterilized the earrings that we chose for our baby. They have a whole selection of baby safe earrings to choose from as well and are medical grade titanium so no need to worry about having allergic reactions. I've read all the reviews and was beyond excited when I stopped in the other day. There was one person getting a tattoo and the other artists were sitting there eating and chatting. I walked in, all eyes went to me, one very blatantly rolled their eyes and approached the desk. Now, side note, I am not new at this, but I've always gone in with a design ready to go. This time I wanted to collaborate with an artist. Back to the man at the desk, who wouldn't give me his name, even after I introduced myself. I asked what was the best way to schedule an appointment to talk with an artist to see if we could come up with a piece, or, if someone was available now, we could talk. Again...only one person was getting inked at the time. Without making eye contact, the guy hands me business cards, tells me to email the artists, and then says "but no one will be available for a year".  I remained polite, thanked him, and held out my hand to shake his. This was my second time getting my nose pierced and Jeff made it seem like a walk in the park. Jeff sure knows what he is doing!! They have  a wide range of jewelry to choose from and the studio is clean and hygienic. The piercing was as painless as it could get. I like that he uses his hands for the actual piercing and not a gun (I have had terrible experiences with that before). He explained everything before and after the piercing and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. Very reasonably priced. I am very happy with my experience. Couldn't have asked for more. They repeatedly ignore emails and calls. They'll say they didn't get your email and picture after sending its 3+ times. If you look at the pictures the artist/company post, there's no one of A darker skin. Coincidence? Don't think so. They ask for "placement photos" in my opinion to see who they'll be servicing. I went in to see Jeff to get my septum re-pierced a week after having it done crooked (twice!) by a piercer at a different place. Jeff was amazing! I researched artists like crazy before landing on Eris at Venture. I searched Yelp, Google, instagram, facebook ect. I wanted a black and grey artist with crazy good detail, deep blacks, dark/gothic designs, and a creative eye to design and create their own work of art. I am super picky and Eris nailed all of it. The other artists JR. and Joni have amazing portfolios as well, I would have been happy to work with either of them as well.Eris's designs are original and one of a kind, he incorporates what aspects of the tattoo you want, but also puts his own artistic twist on it. I am currently working on a whole arm sleeve and I wouldn't trust any one but Eris. My first session was approximately 8 hours, Eris worked quickly but with a ton of attention to detail. We had a few breaks to stretch, grab a drink, make  a phone call, all in all the experience was very enjoyable. Believe it when people say, tattoo's are addictive. Now to the Venture Tattoo shop1. Super Clean...I mean SUPER CLEAN, I have not been in a cleaner more well kept shop2. Super Organized, no tools, papers, trash anywhere left out.3. Very welcoming, from my initial consultation to the day of tattoo4. Not a revolving door tattoo/piercing shop, pretty much appointment only, they truly care about the quality of their work...not just quantity of people they can move through in a day.5. All the artists are really cool, easy to talk to, and a fun environment to be in.One word to the wise...they get a ton of emails for work...be patient, and they will get back to you. After much research I decided on Venture Tattoo and Jeff Clark to pierce my tragus. I was a little nervous because all the YouTube videos I saw showed people crying in pain! I felt very comfortable with Jeff. He explained the entire procedure to me. Told me those videos posted are always the ones showing pain. And toldMe it would not be that bad. It wasn't !! This was my first time ever getting a tattoo and I was impressed. When I walked in, the shop was very clean, well designed, and professional. I was offered a drink and I was able to look through some of their tattoo books on the shelf. I had to wait about 30 minutes past my appointment time but I was not too upset because I was a last minute add-on and I got to watch the process. Joni did my tattoo. He was pleasant and professional. Joni - and I believe his name is 'Eras' (probably misspelling) - made sure to understand exactly what I wanted and I appreciated that because I am very particular.  The only thing I would have wanted differently was more explanation on the aftercare procedure. The information sheet they sent me home with was good and my tattoo was small but being that it was my first tattoo I would have liked more one-on-one explanation on what to expect. I would give this place more stars if I could. everything about the experience was great. it's not a giant tattoo factory getting people in and out, nor is it a shop with one star artist and the rest subpar. it's s shop with 3 excellent artists. Jr. did my tattoo. he had a great vision for my tattoo. he has a light hand , which minimized the pain. yet the blacks in my tattoo are as dark as can be. he listened to my thoughts and told me what would work and if it didn't , he explained why. Mad props to the guys at Venture tattoo.  Since the day I called to make my appointment the service has been superb.  Every employee I had an encounter with was accommodating and well-mannered.  I went in for a tattoo and a septum piercing.  Based on my experience I can confidently say everyone here is expertly skilled and bringing in top quality work.  The ambiance was welcoming,  Jr. Diaz gave me the best tattoo I've ever had.  When he first consulted with me he gave me authoritative knowledge regarding my idea that gave me a perfect sense of his capabilities.  Professional opinion in a sincere manner is greatly appreciated!  Respectable honesty, at its best.  Jeff pierced my septum, this being my 3rd time piercing it, it was also the least painful of the 3 and beautifully executed.  Definitely check this place out for your ink and piercing needs, straight up Bona fide dudes!
