My best friend and I went to go get our tattoos there today - it was the first one for me and the second one for her. Bob, the owner and artist, was AMAZING! Super accommodating when we had the consultation - when other places gave me very judgey looks - and just said "hey you're the boss". And then when we went in today he kept us laughing the whole time even through the pain of wrist tattoos. He totally nerded out with us over Harry Potter and other things. BEST FIRST TATTOO EXPERIENCE FOR THIS BABY BOOMER Bob is a very collaborative artist. He worked with my husband and me over a period of several weeks to make sure our tattoos were exactly what we wanted, and that we understood the importance of aftercare. For example, we went in to meet Bob a couple of weeks before we were going on vacation. When we mentioned that, he asked if we were going to be swimming, which we were, in the ocean and hotel hot tubs. He told us to come back for the tattoos after vacation--salt water and/or chlorine is not good for tattoos. He was more concerned about a good outcome for us and our tattoos than making money immediately. That said a lot! He is a talented and meticulous artist and really took his time positioning the decals so we could see exactly what we were getting. I have had the pleasure of obtaining a tattoo on my forearm by an amazing artist. My daughter had recently passed away and so I had just a rough draft of a quote and her name with no picture or color. I wasn't exactly sure what position would look best, and Bob was incredibly patient with me, taking the time to try various locations until I found the one that was perfect. This was my first time getting a tattoo. I just stopped by to bounce some ideas off Bob and within 30 minutes he had the perfect tattoo drawn up. Another 20 minutes later the tattoo was on my arm. So Bob has done 2 tattoos for me. One large piece on my calf which is beautiful and the other smaller remembrance piece on my wrist for a friend who committed suicide. I LOVE them both. I don't have a photo of the calf piece right now and I am struggling with my cell phone to get a good shot of it, I will add it later. But the wrist one is easy to capture. So, I went to another place before to get a tattoo.  I gave them a 5 because of the experience.  However, as the tattoo healed, it was obvious all the mistakes that were made on it. Went to Burning Sparrow for a second opinion.  Robert aka Bob was very welcoming even though I just popped in. He told me to come back whenever or to call when I was ready and explained to me that he may get to the phone depending on if he had a client.  He told me upfront what he charged. When I visited the other place to compare, I was told to come back in a month. Went back to Burning Sparrow and was seen right away by Joshua,  whom Bob said I would be in good hands with because he had a client. Not only was Joshua cool, he was professional and willing to come up with an idea to compliment the messed up tattoo. He was also respectful and asked Bob pretty much if it were okay because I had spoken with Bob first. The place is clean. The artists are cool people. Above that, they are talented! Just got my tattoo done today and was genuinely satisfied with the entire experience. The first  time you walk in, you will feel as if you've known Robert  your entire life. I did not have an appointment, but Robert was generous enough to take me in. He is a very warm-hearted, friendly, and talented individual, who makes the tattoo experience very comfortable. I went to Bob for a remembrance piece.  He knew that it meant a lot and was very patient with my idea as well as making sure the tattoo was exactly what I wanted. And I quote he said "I understand that means a lot, it has to be perfect!"Bob worked with me for a whole month and was patient and understanding! The actual tattoo process was great experience as well. He has a great taste in music, easy to talk to, put on a movie to pass the time while he worked. His artwork is awesome.
