Buckle up kiddos, because I am extremely frustrated with Liberty Tattoo, and this is going to be a long review (skip to the end for tldr).
I have had my fair share of piercings, and the only one(s) I have ever had problems with were the ones I got done at this place. I got my third earlobe piercings here (both sides) almost 2 years ago now, and one of them recently became infected again for the 3rd or 4th time now (I've lost count honestly). I got my most recent piercing, a forward helix, just under three months ago and it's already healed, which makes me think that this isn't a problem with me or how I care for my piercings.
Today, I went back to the shop to ask why I was having so many problems with a rather simple piercing (the earlobe should heal much quicker than cartilage). I was informed, after nearly two years of struggling with on-and-off infections in both of my piercings, that my piercings were actually done through cartilage. At the time, the guy who pierced my ears treated them like regular earlobe piercings; he told me it should take about 2-3 months to heal and to clean them with the saline solution they sell there. If they had told me back in August 2016 what I was told today--that this piercing was going to have the same healing time and was going to require the more extensive care that cartilage piercings require--I would have been able to give them the proper care and never would have gotten an infection in the first place.
On top of that, I am rather young, and I felt like the way I was treated today was quite disrespectful; and honestly, this wasn't even the only time I felt like the staff at this place treated me like this. The woman I talked to today spoke to me in a tone suggesting that this was 100% my fault, and I'm the idiot for not realizing that I technically had cartilage piercings... on my earlobes. This was the first piercing I got after I turned 18, and I only had the two sets of earlobe piercings before, so I was not super experienced with piercings and the healing process. I did exactly as the piercer told me, and I ended up with an infection less than a month after getting it done.
I take very good care of my piercings; my nose piercing healed so quickly that I was able to change the jewelry only 4-5 weeks after getting it pierced. How can I give my piercings the proper care if I think that I have an entirely different piercing, requiring a different level of care, from what I actually have?
I don't know if the piercer is just a moron (this is most likely, as the aftercare instructions he gave me seemed a little bit iffy to me to begin with), if he wasn't paying attention to what he was piercing, or if there was some artist-client miscommunication. Either way, this negligence is absolutely unacceptable, especially since it is in regards to *putting holes through people's bodies.* I had a much more pleasant experience at Private Ink over on Route 137, where I got my nose pierced. I would recommend that you just go there instead for your piercing if you want an artist that actually knows what they're doing, or if you simply want to be treated with respect throughout your body modification process.
In conclusion, my ears are now permanently scarred due to the negligence of the employee(s) at this shop. Hopefully I will be able to get the current infection resolved with no more future problems. Although I don't think that the guy who pierced my ears works here anymore, I will *not* be going back to Liberty for any future piercings or tattoos.
tldr; guy who pierced my ears told me i had an earlobe piercing when he actually went through cartilage, meaning that I did not receive proper care instructions, resulting in chronic infections over the last *two years*. Staff was also rude to me on multiple occasions. Go to Private Ink instead, much friendlier and more knowledgeable employees :) Read Less
