Everything was clean and smelled good. The flash on the walls is beautiful. I'm looking forward to coming back to get some ink!

First of all, I have been tattooed a lot over the past 10 years, and the only artist I have used since returning back to the Chicago area is Sandy Pope.
All of Sandy's pieces are stunning, which is so highly important since tattoos are not only an extension of one's self but are a major monetary investment for the client too. Consequently, Sandy's prices are fair. Good art is not cheap, but any tattoo investment with Sandy will be entirely worth your money. I cannot even begin to count how many compliments I receive on my sleeve on a daily basis because the work is just that exceptional.
Not only is Sandy the epitome of everything a client looks for when establishing a professional working relationship with a tattoo artist, but she is a true Renaissance woman, inside and out. From her eclectic collection of music and art to her extensive book and video library, clients enjoy stimulating conversation with both Sandy and Hydra's owner, Joel Morgan (who is an amazing tattoo artist and musician), each and every appointment.
Aside from Sandy's professional expertise, her kindness, empathy, and charity for her fellow man knows no bounds. What a hidden gem. The reviews I read are true. Joel and Sandy are two of the most considerate and friendly people you'll find in the biz. No ego. No attitude. Just really good artists who want their clients to be happy. Couldn't have been happier with the work. I wanted a couple of small, simple tats in black. Joel didn't hesitate. Didn't try to get me to change anything either. I am going back as soon as I figure out where to put my kid's names. If you live in the area, you need to give them a try. You won't be let down.

I went to get something updated by Sandy Pope, was able to score an original design with everything I wanted AND the application was better than I'd imagined! Both artists are compassionate, cool and just a good time to be around. The atmosphere is eclectic and inspiring with a funky mix of antique finds peppered with haunting imagery. I had to cancel and reschedule twice and was met with flexibility and easy communication. I can't recommend them enough!

I haven't even been here yet, but because Sandy has done my first two tattoos, I'm following her here, and I know I will have a GREAT experience here! In December, I am coming in with my best friend and we are getting tattoos together by Sandy. Sandy is such a great person to talk to/consult with. She'll try and make you happy, but also tell you straight up if she recommends not doing something, which I really like.
Honestly, I can't wait to come in and see her again! Through email, she has told me great things about this shop and how she loves the people she works with. I can't wait to visit the shop!

(I love the tattoos, her, and the shop/ general experience) The shop is located inside a quaint, tiny train station; It's part art gallery part tattoo shop- very unique. You just walk in and BAM! cool art everywhere. (Lot's of visual distractions!) It's a comfortable, clean, quiet environment and Sandy is so wonderful, talented, and vivacious. I will absolutely be returning to her for all future pieces. They are all so beautiful I can't imagine going to (or trusting) anyone else. She has always clearly communicated what can realistically be done and has always executed my vision beyond my expectations! Also the owner offered me a cupcake which was very hospitable :)

I am beyond impressed with Sandy's work! My boyfriend has gone to her for his sleeve tattoos and more and I was always blown away with how fantastic they looked, so I decided to head to her for my most recent tattoo. The tattoo shop is unique, as it is located in a train station.There is a myriad of artwork, posters and collectibles on the walls giving the whole place a quirky, nostalgic vibe, while making me right at home. The atmosphere is tranquil, making it easy to relax during a painful tattoo. Sandy is great; super friendly and made sure I loved every aspect of my tattoo before we got started. I had emailed her a picture earlier to give her a general idea of what I wanted and she took it and ran with it, creating a breathtakingly beautiful design. She ensured that I was comfortable while she was tattooing me and I am definitely satisfied with the final result. I've seen more of her other work and she is just as fabulous and skilled at black/line tattoos as she is with color. I am certainly going to Sandy for future tattoos and would 100% recommend her to anyone.

What a great experience! I'm not a huge tattoo guy, but Sandy was super helpful. She re-did an old tattoo to make it look brand new and helped me design a new/personal one. The communication was flawless and she made the tattooing fun with her great stories. A bonus: the location is awesome (in the train station), clean and quiet. I'd recommend HydraElectric and Sandy to anyone looking to get a tattoo.

Joel Morgan has done several tattoos on me in the last year. Very professional. Quick and about as painless as tattooing can be. I plan on getting a lot more work done here. It's located in a train station....how cool is that?!

You know you've found something wonderful hidden in a quirky space as soon as the hustle of the train station disappears behind the closed door. I have three wonderful pieces from Sandy and was thrilled to follow her here. Every tattoo has been a singularly pleasant experience and I'm already planning another reason to stop in!

I can't even being to rave enough about the work Sandy has done for me and my husband! This space is amazing and friendly people and great location! I wouldn't go anywhere else for a tattoo!

This new space she is at is in the Highwood train station! The vibe is great and so are the others that work at the shop! She is hands down the best!

I haven't even been here yet, but because Sandy has done my first two tattoos, I'm following her here, and I know I will have a GREAT experience here! In December, I am coming in with my best friend and we are getting tattoos together by Sandy. Sandy is such a great person to talk to/consult with. She'll try and make you happy, but also tell you straight up if she recommends not doing something, which I really like.
Honestly, I can't wait to come in and see her again! Through email, she has told me great things about this shop and how she loves the people she works with. I can't wait to visit the shop!

(I love the tattoos, her, and the shop/ general experience) The shop is located inside a quaint, tiny train station; It's part art gallery part tattoo shop- very unique. You just walk in and BAM! cool art everywhere. (Lot's of visual distractions!) It's a comfortable, clean, quiet environment and Sandy is so wonderful, talented, and vivacious. I will absolutely be returning to her for all future pieces. They are all so beautiful I can't imagine going to (or trusting) anyone else. She has always clearly communicated what can realistically be done and has always executed my vision beyond my expectations! Also the owner offered me a cupcake which was very hospitable :)

I've been going to Sandy since I was 18, and have loved her work, and her since then. So I was more than happy to follow her wherever she went. Her new home is beautiful, the atmosphere is so great for any tattoo/horror movie enthusiast. I highly recommend Sandy and her beautiful work.

I am beyond impressed with Sandy's work! My boyfriend has gone to her for his sleeve tattoos and more and I was always blown away with how fantastic they looked, so I decided to head to her for my most recent tattoo. The tattoo shop is unique, as it is located in a train station.There is a myriad of artwork, posters and collectibles on the walls giving the whole place a quirky, nostalgic vibe, while making me right at home. The atmosphere is tranquil, making it easy to relax during a painful tattoo. Sandy is great; super friendly and made sure I loved every aspect of my tattoo before we got started. I had emailed her a picture earlier to give her a general idea of what I wanted and she took it and ran with it, creating a breathtakingly beautiful design. She ensured that I was comfortable while she was tattooing me and I am definitely satisfied with the final result. I've seen more of her other work and she is just as fabulous and skilled at black/line tattoos as she is with color. I am certainly going to Sandy for future tattoos and would 100% recommend her to anyone.

What a great experience! I'm not a huge tattoo guy, but Sandy was super helpful. She re-did an old tattoo to make it look brand new and helped me design a new/personal one. The communication was flawless and she made the tattooing fun with her great stories. A bonus: the location is awesome (in the train station), clean and quiet. I'd recommend HydraElectric and Sandy to anyone looking to get a tattoo.
