update** after posting this review to google reviews the employees who wrote on the piece have apologized and explained they thought it was another artists sketch. I greatly appreciate the apology and explanation :) I've been here several times and know several people who have gotten tattoos/piercings here. All good experiences. But, sadly, there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way after my last visit on 9/28. I want to preface by saying I understand it was a Friday night and probably considerably more busy than other times, so some of the inconveniences we experienced can be accredited to that. I went to get a tattoo in honor of my cat I've had for 15 years, who recently passed. I came here to get a simple commemorative piece for her. Additionally, my friend came with me to get a touch up on an existing very small piece, and then an additional small piece. My first issue was the way the artwork I brought in was treated by the staff. My cat died not 3 days before I chose to get this piece. I drew it myself. After making the ink print of my piece to transfer to my skin, my original piece was handed back to me with profanity written on it ("F-you" scribbled on it) Vito informed me his colleagues did it and offered to cut away the profanity. (Luckily the words were not scribbled on the actual art, just in the margins. Still. It's the principal.) Vito was so kind and accommodating process, and he honestly seemed embarrassed on his colleagues behalf. Luckily my mom made copies of my artwork prior to me getting this tattoo and I'm really glad she did. That really rubbed me the wrong way and was extremely unprofessional, especially with the death of my cat being so new and raw. Receiving such a meaningful piece back and seeing it disrespected like that put such a bad taste in my mouth. This was probably the most disheartening and upsetting experience about the night. The employees who did that had no right to assume that I would not want the piece back, nor that I would be okay with seeing swear words scribbled all over something I drew in honor of my beloved cat. I want to thank Vito for his professionalism and even showing me the portrait he got tattooed for his dog after they passed. I wish the bad experience ended there, but to make matters worse my friend was told her work would be $70 by one employee and then was directedbto sign in. Then, 3 or 4 other people went ahead of her who had not waited as long as she did. (3 of whom were definitely walk-ins, not sure about the others) She was then told by Vito, who was kind enough to pay her attention, that her work would be $80. Firstly, that price point is fair for the work she was having done. Our issue arose with the fact that she waited so long and had people go ahead of her only to then have to pay $10 more. It just shows lack of communication among employees and disorganization. That was really just the cherry on top of the fact that she had to wait as others who hadn't waited as long as her went ahead. Thanks again to Vito for attending to us. Overall disappointed in the unprofessionalism and lack of organization showcased that night. It took almost an hour to get a piece of jewelry changed (Called in advance). And 30 minutes to get the ball put back on an earring they changed the day before (when I was told I would be serviced in 5 to 10 minutes and called in advance)....... Read Less

This was my first time getting a tattoo at 4 Aces in Franklin Park. I’ve always had friends get tattoos here and always passed it going to work. I came in with a picture of what I wanted and I got what I wanted and more! Shannon Walsh is an amazing artist. She took her time designing it and making sure all the detail was there. By the end of it I cried because of the meaning behind it and how well she executed it. Definitely going back for her to touch it up and let her do what she does best! Read Less

I would put 0 stars if it were an option. I called 3 times on different days and was told that they would be able to help me change my jewelry for free. I disclosed that I did not get them here in all 3 phone calls. I was told repeatedly that it was not a problem. I drove 15 miles out of my way, Wasted an hour and a 1/2 of my time, gas that I do not have to be told that it would be $20 to change them. Which if I had been told I would have never came because I have 50 cents to my name right now. I'm sure the people are great but whoever I talk to on the phone either doesn't know what they're talking about or purposely misled me I will never go here again. Read Less

First timer!!!! I had Kelsey as my tattoo artist and she was very helpful. I showed her what I wanted which was ad maiora with an arrow underneath. It's latin for towards greater things.  It looks great!!! She was quick and reassured me that the pain isn't that bad. I also got my forward helix done with Jared. Yes...In one night & the piercing hurt more than the tattoo Both Kelsey and Jared were awesome! The atmosphere is very welcome and I love how goofy and personable everyone is here. Long stort short : they will make the right decision for you. They are true artists and somehow polite. My ideas were good. They made them awesome I requested a specific artist twice, they declined my request. In retrospect IT WAS FOR MY OWN GOOD. I dont know much about the tattoo culture or tattoos. I just knew what I wanted. Any old place could give me what I wanted and I'd be happy with it, but 4 aces not only gave me that, they gave me a new, better self image that I am very proud of. I have gone to this shop only a couple of times for my stretched ears needs. Every single time I’ve gone they don’t have what I need, and every single time I walk out in disappointment. I also emailed them about maybe 2 weeks ago with questions and have not gotten a response back. If I decide I want to give this shop another chance for my piercing needs I’ll call and ask, just to avoid any time wasted with a walk-in. The staff is super nice though which is why I’ll give this a 2-Star. Some of the art on the wall intrigued me, but to be quite honest I’m feeling a bit unsure with the track record I already have with this shop. Hopefully my mind could be changed! Read Less

My experience at 4 Aces was terrific for an older woman coming for her very first body piercing the staff there were professional friendly and accommodating... knowing my concerns and taking time to talk to me about some pre-existing circumstances, to the point of pointing out to me that I should check with my doctor before my final decision to come for a piercing. Jared the gentleman who did my piercing was so patient kind and insightful. 4 Aces is a clean establishment... you can tell that it is well cared for and their hygiene practices are excellent. Best tattoo experience I've had. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Gio did an amazing piece on my neck, constantly checking on me to make sure I was ok. He was friendly, fun and professional. 4 aces definitely has returning customers for as long as I'm getting tattooed. Amazing shop. HIGHLY recommend it.CORRECTION: I continued to deal with Gio cause he did two of my big pieces. Now I got the financing. Got approved for $1000. They were supposed to put the remainder on a gift card but didn't. So the next time we went in we had to pay another $50 on top of having our credit run again without him telling us and now we have two payments every two weeks instead of one. Our limit was also increased cause we paid some extra on it since it's 101 days same as cash. I made a FB status about it and Gio decided he was going to jump down my throat without even knowing the context of my status. Now this may seem petty but here's the issue. DONT TALK ABOUT YOUR CLIENTS ON FACEBOOK. He turned out to be the most unprofessional tattoo artist...tread lightly with him. 2 stars cause I like my work. Jared is awesome!! I was so unhappy with a tattoo I had gotten so I started looking for a new artist. I walked in and Jared looked at my piece, took a picture said come back tomorrow and we'll sketch and see how you like it...... I was mind blown by how much detail he added have in mind he was fixing an old tattoo so I was a little nervous it may end up looking worse. I am sooo happy with it. This was literally done on a whim and, the first thing I noticed when I walked in was it's cleanliness and fresh smell. Needles, Ink, and people, yeah, this place is rated A+ in my book for sanitizing. My tattoo, Jeff was my artist, and, I walked in the door, showed him a few pictures, did the stenciling thing and went to town. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and above all, respectful . Yesterday would have been my 28th anniversary. My husband passed away unexpectedly in June. Came to.4 Aces for a tattoo to mark our time together. Spears came to greet my son and I, I explained my idea and he explained what I would have to do so it would even resemble what I wanted. He was so great helped me find something similar to my thoughts. Put it together in minutes and ready in no time. Get service. Clean shop. For it being a shitty day, Spears turned it around even with it being close to closing. Thank you very much and we will be there this week for my daughters memory tattoo.
