This place is the best. I've gotten all 4 of my tattoos here and recently my dream catcher one and probably will add more. I've gotten majority of them from Jared and he's great! Everyone there is friendly and helpful with anything you need or want. All their pieces are really great and the reason I go there. All mine have been a combination of tattoo ideas and they've always made it as I imagined and wanted it. If it's not busy you can usually get in for a small walk-in or make an appointment for a bigger piece or have an idea of what you wanted. I had, without a doubt, the worst tattoo ever! My little blue lotus looked more like an avocado!My daughter-in-law has the most beautiful arm tattoo I have ever seen- done by Su Houston. I am horrified to learn that Rob Hixon, the owner of West Town Tattoo in Chicago (formerly Tomato Tattoo), has been secretly videotaping and recording audio without our (the clients) consent.  Please note:  West Town Tattoo is the new name for Tomato Tattoo.  This includes private conversations and video of nude and semi-nude clients.  This is violating to me as a client as I was unaware of these recordings.  Conversations that took place between myself and my tattoo artist were spoken in a private manner - much like a conversation between a client and a hairdresser.  It is awful that someone was watching me as I had my tattoo work done. I would imagine that it would be even more violating to those women who had tattoo around private parts or areas that they wouldn't expose in public.  This is not acceptable and disgusting. This has an ever-lasting affect as tattoos are permanent and often carry deep stories, some of those stories include the experience of getting the tattoo.  I would imagine most people will feel violated every time that looks at their tattoo/body. In addition, it is also unsettling to know that this man has personal and private information about us, including our health status.  His behavior is unacceptable and he should not be operating a tattoo shop.  He has polluted the sanctity of a tattoo shop. I refuse to give him business and I am reaching out to the Better Business Bureau for further investigation. Read Less

Went here with my girlfriends for 3 walk-ins. Su and Rob were very understanding and patient. (2 girls were getting their first tattoos and were super nervous!) So, my friend and I were visiting the city on our mission to get tattooed in every state (long story), anyway, we called the day before and Sue told us we could come in at noon and she would do our work. We get there and my counterpart realizes she has forgotten her wallet... in Wisconsin. SO! Being super understanding, Sue let's us know we can come back later around 6 and she will still do our tattoos for us and reassures us that this happens. Not only were they super accommodating, but the atmosphere and the artists were great. The work came out exactly how I wanted it. I have been going to Rob for almost 10 years and I couldn't be happier with his work. He has a gentle touch and does amazing detail work. The shop is extremely clean and they sterilize all their equipment on site. All the artists are very friendly and helpful to make sure they get your piece just right. I just got my first tattoo from Su and I couldn't be happier. I came in with a sketch and she turned it into a beautiful piece that was even better than what I had in my head. When I almost chickened out and had her make it smaller, she explained to me why a little bigger size would age best in the long run. If I had still wanted smaller, I'm sure she would've done it, but I followed her advice and I think the tattoo is the perfect size. The studio is also very clean and well kept. I had checked out their online portfolios and knew I would be comfortable going to anyone. (One of the reasons I chose this shop was I found it overwhelming to choose a specific artist and I saw this place only had 4 and they all looked excellent.). So I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place no matter who you see but now I will definitely go back and see Su again if I decide to get more ink. It also really didn't hurt at all. Read Less

Their service is fast and friendly. I contacted the shop (via their contact form on the website) and had my appointment within two days. Rob worked with me, and did an amazing job. His line work was beautiful, and this is the best tattoo I have ever gotten. He's been doing tattoo for 26 years and it shows. He was friendly conversation and a fast worker. One word: amazing!! Being the impulsive person I am, I decided I wanted a name tattoo ASAP. Originally, I wanted it on the side of my finger. The guy who answered the phone (I think his name was Jared), however, advised me that that wouldn't be such a good idea. He went on to explain that, among other things, the constant use of the hands causes such tattoos to relocate and possibly look unsightly over time. I hadn't considered that and eventually changed the location to my shoulder. I appreciated his candor and him keeping it 100. For real. Saved me the headache of a tattoo that looks good today, gone bad tomorrow. I asked if I could walk in and he indicated that because it was such a tiny tattoo, sure. I walked in and was seen by Josh. Josh was amazing! Very calming, personable, and a true perfectionist at heart (totally necessary when your job is to permanently alter someone's body, ijs). Anyway, Josh did an AMAZING job and my tattoo came out FAR BETTER than I was hoping for. I love it!!!!!! The lines are so precise (literally perfect). Lucky for me, Jared had a cancellation on a Friday afternoon and was able to squeeze me in. I have several tattoos, but this was my first time going to Jared. My problem is that I'm indecisive but picky at the same time, but Jared was fantastic!! I love the work he did and he was very patient working with me and helped me make decisions I was happy with. I went in yesterday to have Bill Webb work on an old piece that was never finished.  He collaborated with the other guys in the shop to make some amazing changes to the existing tattoo which was in bad shape.  They all had great input and energy, and the suggestions took it to another level.Bill works at a great pace, made me feel comfortable, was inviting to my friend who brought me food, and was overall awesome.  I sat for 5.5 hours, and he made so much progress on my tattoo in that time.  The end result was that he took a tattoo I was very unhappy with and turned it into something I love!  I scheduled my next appointment with him before leaving, and I highly suggest Bill and this shop for anyone!  I seriously cannot say enough about this experience 5 stars all the way! I just went this past Friday to get a tattoo. I walked in and Diana helped me out. She sketched it out really quickly and she was great. I got "Love Tender..." on my clavicle and it took abt 30mins total & only cost $60. I could tell she was a perfectionist & I love that....I got my first tattoo from here when they were called Tomato Tattoo and the service is still great!
