***Kevin Kniskern*** I used to never have a tattoo guy, would go anywhere for anything. Then when I started leaning towards getting a sleeve my husband said you have to go to Kevin. I will never let someone else tattoo me ever again. First off, super clean with his supplies and materials. Second, very thorough with his designs and makes sure that you are happy with them. Third, very light hand. Obviously, it's a tattoo it's going to hurt. But the light, steady hand helps. Fourth, he is very fair with his prices and doesn't dick you around. Worth the drive and won't go anywhere else. Lastly, he's pretty funny and tries to keep you preoccupied during the tattooing. Love you Kevin!!

Unlike the rest of the people who've been here I had a subpar experience. I walked in for a simple outline tattoo and was introduced to a tattooist that I believe to be named Tay. He did not introduce himself and gave off a vibe like I was wasting his time. I should've just left but I really wanted a tattoo so I decided to stay. After sending him a picture of what I wanted and where I wanted it he came back with a stencil that was way too big that it was almost over lapping with my other tattoo and when I wanted it resized he seemed frustrated. After placing my stencil he said he'd be right back and left me in my seat. About 10-15 minutes later he comes back in letting in a blast weed smelling air and set down his cartridge box. I don't mind people smoking but I feel like he should've let me know what he was doing instead of leaving me sitting there not knowing what was going on. After waiting he's finally ready to start and I let him know that I just want it to be a simple outline with no color and not to color in the hair because I didn't want all that black to overpower the rest of the tattoo which also seemed to annoy him. All in all it was an awkward experience because he did not speak to me and also answered a call in the middle of my tattoo which did not seem professional at all.

I love this place. The staff is cool, the art and decor is awesome, and the music is always on point. The artists are really good and they have a lot of regulars who come only to them for tattoos. They treat you with respect, and none of them act like pompous turds who think they're cooler than you because they work at a tattoo shop and can use swear words while working- you know what I'm talking about- the big name tattoo shops at Clark and Belmont, or in the suburbs, for example. Douches. Anyway,I got my brother to start coming here, and I continue to recommend this place to anyone who asks about my tattoos. If I had to change one thing about this shop, it would be the lack of diet pop in the vending machine. Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper would be amaze. Oh, and I would change the name. Stained in Pain is kinda nerdy.

I am beyond grateful and obsessed for the work Jackie did. I wanted a watercolor tree for a while now because I want a quarter sleeve, and her design delivered! It's absolutely gorgeous and the line work and colorwork both are flawless. My appointment took 4 hours, which didnt feel that long because she is super sociable and personable. Definitely will be returning! I met some of the other guys working in the shop, and they all seem very nice and cool, as well. This shop is super comfortable, and not overcrowded with shit all over the walls. They have custom work portfolios on the table right when you walk in, so you can see what other people have gotten in the past.

My first 2 were relatively basic, although one was a teeny-tiny ghost with swirls, that look perfect considering how small I had her make them.
The newest tattoo is based off a famous painting by Kirchner (Streets, Berlin). She KILLED IT. It looks like it came straight off the canvas. She made smart tweaks to the artwork, but still made sure to keep it painterly like I had asked.
I cannot say enough positive things about my tattoos and Jaxie's professionalism and talents. She's incredible!
The studio itself is clean, and has several fun personalities in it, sitting around is pretty entertaining here.
So thrilled that I have a new go-to artist and location for my future tattoos, and will continue to spread the word about this joint!

Third visit to this shop I've always just walked in and I guess choose the perfect times because my waits have been less than 10-15 minutes. Today I took my daughter to get her nose pierced and I was very impressed with how clean and professional Richie was. I've visited other places but it's the people and the confidence in the artists here that keep me coming back! My friend and I have gotten tattoos here and this was my first piercing experience. Both of our pieces were custom and reasonably priced.

He added some color and made it look nice and new again.I really like that from 6 PM to 11 PM they have walkins available. No need to make an appointment; just walk in and get your tat. It seems like all the artists at Stained in Pain Tattoo are gifted artists and have an eye for capturing incredible images.I don't plan on getting any more tattoos, but if I were I would definitely come back here.

This is the best damn tattoo parlor in Chicago. They have the most artist in all of Chicago. Every single artist in this place is GREAT. They all have their special talent but everything they always do is CUSTOM work. What you want, the way you want it and they will continue to work on your drawing until youre satisfied and ready to get down to it. I have even went in just to hang out and they have never told me to leave or anything like that. The owner Jimmy is a straight up easy going and loving guy. I've seen thousands of Tattoos and thousands of happy faces leave this place. This place is amazing. They have artist who specialize in everything: animals, nature, skulls, portraits, graff, b&w, color, etc. Whatever you are looking for this is the place to definitely check out. I have read some comments about some of these artist refusing work and let me tell you what a bunch of bullshit I think that is. They have more than 10 artist in this place. Some of these guys are appointment only and the rest who do walk-ins are usually always busy with someone. So if you can't wait and you're a walk-in set up an appointment for a for sure date and I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

Idk about other people but it all has been pretty painless. I also both times got piercings by Richie. He knows his stuff and took time to talk it over with me and was super nice. I got my lip and eyebrow pierced. It was painless. Also the piercing prices are great. I'm so excited to go back in 2 weeks to get my arm finished. I am definitely gonna go back for more. These 2 guys are the best ever!!!

He Went over the care and cleaning process multiple times and took the time to type out cleaning directions for me to take home. He was very quick with minimal pain. Very nice and personable. I've been to several shops for piercings, and Richie is the best piercer in Chicago. I found him by trying to find someone to save a piercing I got at another shop. He's the only one who takes his time and feels your muscles and movements underneath the skin for the best spot. He explains to you the options. He's very patient to make sure you leave satisfied. You can always stop by to see him later if you are having problems with your piercing. Other piercers I've been to will just pierce you exactly where you point, even if it's a spot that will most likely reject, and not offer their expert advice and options. Now I only would come to Richie for any piercing.

Love love love this place. I'll only get my tattoos done here. Jackie is my favorite but my friends have gotten inked by the other artists as well and they are all so talented! I get asked at least twice a week where i get my tattoos done by strangers admiring their work. Very clean and professional. And they're such nice people, they actually sit down with you and talk out all the details of your idea, whereas other shops I've been to want to just photocopy an image, take your money and get you out as soon as possible. I highly recommend this shop

i was lucky enough to have worked with rich to get my septum pierced. he answered all of my questions about types of metal, rings, etc. He even ordered me a septum ring that the shop didn't carry so that i could be pierced comfortably and without any allergic reactions (i have a nickel allergy). he worked with me over the phone to find exactly what size ring i needed and was so helpful.the piercing was also super easy. he explained every single step of the process, including the paperwork, as we were going through the motions. he made sure i was ok right before piercing me, and spoke in a gentle voice (i think he could tell i'm a nervous person) and told me what he was going to do right before doing it. he was great.one thing i had trouble with: the posters in his piercing room. some of them made me slightly uncomfortable - however, i do understand the aesthetic appeal. it did not, however, ruin my lovely experience.

I got my very first tattoo last week at Stained in Pain. I arrived 2hours before the shop was supposed to close for the night, I was only expecting to get some information, but the tattoo artists were so nice and encouraging that I agreed to do it right away. I am so grateful for their kindness : I didn't know anything about tattoos so I had a lot of silly questions, they did everything to make me feel more comfortable.Mike really listened to all of my requests and drew a beautiful custom made design that I adore. He took the time to do it exactly as I wanted, even if that meant going home late. He was very considerate of my pain and did an amazing job. The tattoo looks really neat and I only get very enthusiastic compliments. The place seems very clean from what I experienced, and Mike gave me all the information I needed to take care of my new tattoo. So far the healing process is going very well. I am no expert in tattoos but the price (100$ for a medium size tattoo) seems very reasonable to me, especially since it took 40mn to talk about what I wanted, draw the design and deal with my nervousness, and then more than 90mn to actually get it done. I would recommend that place and Mike as a tattoo artist without a doubt!!

The lettering wasn't evenly spaced & it was almost impossible to read, so of course I was pissed & went back in to get it fixed. I spoke to the manager who was extremely apologetic and offered to have it covered up for free with whatever I wanted. Matt Ward ended up doing the cover up & he did an amazing job! You can't even tell that it's a cover up & I ended up liking it even more than what I originally wanted.

Almost 3 yrs ago my niece passed away and the entire family was looking to do a tattoo tribute to her. My brother's friend is a tattoo artist here so we came here. Eerie our tattooist did an amazing job. Captured every detail I wanted to incorporate into my tribute. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. Recently, I went back to add some flowers and detail to that tattoo and again EERIE did not disappoint. Absolutely amazing. I'll definitely be back.The shop is clean and Eerie opens all new needles, etc right in front of you.

This isn't your typical tattoo shop where you walk in and there are rows after rows of artwork to pick from and more than likely there are 20 or 30 or even more others out there with the same tattoo on their body. This place has a few books to choose from as they are known for custom work...the way tattoos should be anyway, in my opinion. If you're a walk in, they do have a few books to get an idea of the artist's work.My artist is Pinga, he was referred to me from a friend and I had him fix up a few tattoos that didn't heal too well when he was at a shop previously that closed down. He is an awesome artist, very professional and as others have mentioned, reasonable in price. I highly recommend this artist and this tattoo shop. I will be there soon for my 6th tattoo!

***Kevin Kniskern*** I used to never have a tattoo guy, would go anywhere for anything. Then when I started leaning towards getting a sleeve my husband said you have to go to Kevin. I will never let someone else tattoo me ever again. First off, super clean with his supplies and materials. Second, very thorough with his designs and makes sure that you are happy with them. Third, very light hand. Obviously, it's a tattoo it's going to hurt. But the light, steady hand helps. Fourth, he is very fair with his prices and doesn't dick you around. Worth the drive and won't go anywhere else. Lastly, he's pretty funny and tries to keep you preoccupied during the tattooing. Love you Kevin!!

Unlike the rest of the people who've been here I had a subpar experience. I walked in for a simple outline tattoo and was introduced to a tattooist that I believe to be named Tay. He did not introduce himself and gave off a vibe like I was wasting his time. I should've just left but I really wanted a tattoo so I decided to stay. After sending him a picture of what I wanted and where I wanted it he came back with a stencil that was way too big that it was almost over lapping with my other tattoo and when I wanted it resized he seemed frustrated. After placing my stencil he said he'd be right back and left me in my seat. About 10-15 minutes later he comes back in letting in a blast weed smelling air and set down his cartridge box. I don't mind people smoking but I feel like he should've let me know what he was doing instead of leaving me sitting there not knowing what was going on. After waiting he's finally ready to start and I let him know that I just want it to be a simple outline with no color and not to color in the hair because I didn't want all that black to overpower the rest of the tattoo which also seemed to annoy him. All in all it was an awkward experience because he did not speak to me and also answered a call in the middle of my tattoo which did not seem professional at all.

I love this place. The staff is cool, the art and decor is awesome, and the music is always on point. The artists are really good and they have a lot of regulars who come only to them for tattoos. They treat you with respect, and none of them act like pompous turds who think they're cooler than you because they work at a tattoo shop and can use swear words while working- you know what I'm talking about- the big name tattoo shops at Clark and Belmont, or in the suburbs, for example. Douches. Anyway,I got my brother to start coming here, and I continue to recommend this place to anyone who asks about my tattoos. If I had to change one thing about this shop, it would be the lack of diet pop in the vending machine. Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper would be amaze. Oh, and I would change the name. Stained in Pain is kinda nerdy.

I am beyond grateful and obsessed for the work Jackie did. I wanted a watercolor tree for a while now because I want a quarter sleeve, and her design delivered! It's absolutely gorgeous and the line work and colorwork both are flawless. My appointment took 4 hours, which didnt feel that long because she is super sociable and personable. Definitely will be returning! I met some of the other guys working in the shop, and they all seem very nice and cool, as well. This shop is super comfortable, and not overcrowded with shit all over the walls. They have custom work portfolios on the table right when you walk in, so you can see what other people have gotten in the past.

My first 2 were relatively basic, although one was a teeny-tiny ghost with swirls, that look perfect considering how small I had her make them.
The newest tattoo is based off a famous painting by Kirchner (Streets, Berlin). She KILLED IT. It looks like it came straight off the canvas. She made smart tweaks to the artwork, but still made sure to keep it painterly like I had asked.
I cannot say enough positive things about my tattoos and Jaxie's professionalism and talents. She's incredible!
The studio itself is clean, and has several fun personalities in it, sitting around is pretty entertaining here.
So thrilled that I have a new go-to artist and location for my future tattoos, and will continue to spread the word about this joint!

Third visit to this shop I've always just walked in and I guess choose the perfect times because my waits have been less than 10-15 minutes. Today I took my daughter to get her nose pierced and I was very impressed with how clean and professional Richie was. I've visited other places but it's the people and the confidence in the artists here that keep me coming back! My friend and I have gotten tattoos here and this was my first piercing experience. Both of our pieces were custom and reasonably priced.

He added some color and made it look nice and new again.I really like that from 6 PM to 11 PM they have walkins available. No need to make an appointment; just walk in and get your tat. It seems like all the artists at Stained in Pain Tattoo are gifted artists and have an eye for capturing incredible images.I don't plan on getting any more tattoos, but if I were I would definitely come back here.

I've been getting tattoos here for the past few years and will not go anyplace else. Jackie is the best tattoo artist there.This place is always clean and all the artists are very friendly. I would highly recommend Stained in Pain to anyone looking to get a great and affordable tattoo.

This is the best damn tattoo parlor in Chicago. They have the most artist in all of Chicago. Every single artist in this place is GREAT. They all have their special talent but everything they always do is CUSTOM work. What you want, the way you want it and they will continue to work on your drawing until youre satisfied and ready to get down to it. I have even went in just to hang out and they have never told me to leave or anything like that. The owner Jimmy is a straight up easy going and loving guy. I've seen thousands of Tattoos and thousands of happy faces leave this place. This place is amazing. They have artist who specialize in everything: animals, nature, skulls, portraits, graff, b&w, color, etc. Whatever you are looking for this is the place to definitely check out. I have read some comments about some of these artist refusing work and let me tell you what a bunch of bullshit I think that is. They have more than 10 artist in this place. Some of these guys are appointment only and the rest who do walk-ins are usually always busy with someone. So if you can't wait and you're a walk-in set up an appointment for a for sure date and I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

I was anxious about my 1st tattoo and he made it a great experience and now 2 weeks later i went back and started my second tattoo thats covering most of my upper arm. Idk about other people but it all has been pretty painless. I also both times got piercings by Richie. He knows his stuff and took time to talk it over with me and was super nice. I got my lip and eyebrow pierced. It was painless. Also the piercing prices are great. I'm so excited to go back in 2 weeks to get my arm finished. I am definitely gonna go back for more. These 2 guys are the best ever!!!

The piercer Richie was great! He was extremely patient with me when I was super nervous. He was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. He briefed me before the piercing and walked me thru step by step what he was doing. He didnt make me feel any discomfort being there. He Went over the care and cleaning process multiple times and took the time to type out cleaning directions for me to take home. He was very quick with minimal pain. Very nice and personable. Prices are also great! I will deffinately be returning for any future piercings.

I've been to several shops for piercings, and Richie is the best piercer in Chicago. I found him by trying to find someone to save a piercing I got at another shop. He's the only one who takes his time and feels your muscles and movements underneath the skin for the best spot. He explains to you the options. He's very patient to make sure you leave satisfied. You can always stop by to see him later if you are having problems with your piercing. Other piercers I've been to will just pierce you exactly where you point, even if it's a spot that will most likely reject, and not offer their expert advice and options. Now I only would come to Richie for any piercing.

Seriously you can't go wrong. When it comes to tattoos you need to be 100% and with the mindset of no regrets, ever. After all they are permanent works of art, if you have the right artist. Of course I've come to the same artist for over a year and have at least eight tattoos from him already! Bernie rocks! But his waiting list is long, good thing I'm a regular! I am never disappointed because he not only tweaks my vision with his twist, but he's actually a good hearted guy. Tattoo artist for me have come and gone, but with Berny, I am a loyal and returning customer. There is never a doubt with any of the artist!Stained in Pain is filled with some very unique artist that also have a certain artistic flair as individuals. None are alike, and I am sure that you can connect with one once you come in for a a consultation. Females and males almost guarantee you will be seen on the day you walk in so let them know you saw them on YELP!

Love love love this place. I'll only get my tattoos done here. Jackie is my favorite but my friends have gotten inked by the other artists as well and they are all so talented! I get asked at least twice a week where i get my tattoos done by strangers admiring their work. Very clean and professional. And they're such nice people, they actually sit down with you and talk out all the details of your idea, whereas other shops I've been to want to just photocopy an image, take your money and get you out as soon as possible. I highly recommend this shop

i was lucky enough to have worked with rich to get my septum pierced. he answered all of my questions about types of metal, rings, etc. He even ordered me a septum ring that the shop didn't carry so that i could be pierced comfortably and without any allergic reactions (i have a nickel allergy). he worked with me over the phone to find exactly what size ring i needed and was so helpful.the piercing was also super easy. he explained every single step of the process, including the paperwork, as we were going through the motions. he made sure i was ok right before piercing me, and spoke in a gentle voice (i think he could tell i'm a nervous person) and told me what he was going to do right before doing it. he was great.one thing i had trouble with: the posters in his piercing room. some of them made me slightly uncomfortable - however, i do understand the aesthetic appeal. it did not, however, ruin my lovely experience.

I got my very first tattoo last week at Stained in Pain. I arrived 2hours before the shop was supposed to close for the night, I was only expecting to get some information, but the tattoo artists were so nice and encouraging that I agreed to do it right away. I am so grateful for their kindness : I didn't know anything about tattoos so I had a lot of silly questions, they did everything to make me feel more comfortable.Mike really listened to all of my requests and drew a beautiful custom made design that I adore. He took the time to do it exactly as I wanted, even if that meant going home late. He was very considerate of my pain and did an amazing job. The tattoo looks really neat and I only get very enthusiastic compliments. The place seems very clean from what I experienced, and Mike gave me all the information I needed to take care of my new tattoo. So far the healing process is going very well. I am no expert in tattoos but the price (100$ for a medium size tattoo) seems very reasonable to me, especially since it took 40mn to talk about what I wanted, draw the design and deal with my nervousness, and then more than 90mn to actually get it done. I would recommend that place and Mike as a tattoo artist without a doubt!!

The lettering wasn't evenly spaced & it was almost impossible to read, so of course I was pissed & went back in to get it fixed. I spoke to the manager who was extremely apologetic and offered to have it covered up for free with whatever I wanted. Matt Ward ended up doing the cover up & he did an amazing job! You can't even tell that it's a cover up & I ended up liking it even more than what I originally wanted.

Almost 3 yrs ago my niece passed away and the entire family was looking to do a tattoo tribute to her. My brother's friend is a tattoo artist here so we came here. Eerie our tattooist did an amazing job. Captured every detail I wanted to incorporate into my tribute. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. Recently, I went back to add some flowers and detail to that tattoo and again EERIE did not disappoint. Absolutely amazing. I'll definitely be back.The shop is clean and Eerie opens all new needles, etc right in front of you.

This isn't your typical tattoo shop where you walk in and there are rows after rows of artwork to pick from and more than likely there are 20 or 30 or even more others out there with the same tattoo on their body. This place has a few books to choose from as they are known for custom work...the way tattoos should be anyway, in my opinion. If you're a walk in, they do have a few books to get an idea of the artist's work.My artist is Pinga, he was referred to me from a friend and I had him fix up a few tattoos that didn't heal too well when he was at a shop previously that closed down. He is an awesome artist, very professional and as others have mentioned, reasonable in price. I highly recommend this artist and this tattoo shop. I will be there soon for my 6th tattoo!
