I was nervous but he was incredibly understanding and helped keep me distracted during the process. My tattoo is in the healing process and looks fantastic. Mike Mac at Logan Square Tattoo is a true artist and phenomenal tattooer! He will help you come to the final design of your tattoo without trying to push you towards things you don't want. He's funny, kind, and will only do as much as you can handle. Also, his work is sick! He and other tattooers have some beautiful ready-made designs just waiting to get inked. It had been 10 years since my first(and, at the time, last) tattoo when I noticed this place. The delay was a lack of creativity on my part. I was referred by my brother to speak to resident artist Mike Mac, and he was able to cobble together my idea into something I'd be proud to have on my skin. The tattoo session itself was great too; not only was this shop clean and professional, but the employees kept a light and fun atmosphere(this was important as I was pretty nervous.) The price was more than reasonable, and the overall experience convinced me to come back for any furure ideas. That was roughly a year ago, and I've since been back for two more projects. I wish something had gone wrong so I could write like a really long-winded and funny review but seriously, this place is just great and easy to work with.I emailed them through the website, Allie (who is a seriously excellent tatooer, BTW) emailed me back. We worked through designs and set up an appointment.I showed up for my appointment and he had a couple cool designs drawn up. I picked one and he put it on me in like, an hour. Very clean and professional shop. I have been getting tattooed by Gifford (the shop owner) and Mike Mac for years and have followed them from the shop they previously worked at in Oak Park. They have four full time artists who specialize in their own style and they frequently do guest spots with out of town artists. My favorite part about this shop is the lack of "tattitude" you are accustomed to seeing in shops in Chicago. It is a very welcome environment and nobody is going to make you feel stupid for asking "dumb questions." This is a full custom shop so no mountains of tacky flash covering the walls. Like many people, I was very particular about what I wanted for my tattoo. Not having the creative skills to draw it myself, I put my trust in Allie Sider to create a piece a had described for him in an email. This tattoo was a particularly important one for me-  I wanted to get roses on my arm for my late grandmother. Allie's skill surpassed by expectations- he came up with a beautiful drawing and was willing to take the time to make the minor adjustments I asked for. Went to a couple different shops before I was recommended to visit Allie Sider. Didn't have that welcoming feel and confidence that they could pull this memorial tattoo off. I have been following Allie Sider from shop to shop since the fall of 2013. Logan Square Tattoo is, by far, my favorite shop in which he's worked. It's clean, bright, and filled with excellent artists who are happy to converse with you if you're in the mood. Gifford, the owner, is particularly amiable, and I always enjoy talking to him about music. Everyone at the shop tries to cultivate an environment that is comfortable for all customers, and they always work to correct any issues that may arise along that front, which I greatly appreciate.Yesterday, I got my 15th & 16th tattoos from Allie. An absolute professional through and through, Mike worked with my wife and me on our designs, pointed out what would and wouldn't work, and made time in his schedule to get us in the same day. Unfortunately my lady got cold feet and we never wound up getting the pieces done. However, based on Mike's professionalism, pieces I've seen done by him and other artists there, and how immaculately clean the shop was I'd highly recommend them. Walked by the shop after Easter brunch with my wife and was happy to see them open. I was even happier they were able to take a walk in. Spoke to Christian about the star of David I was interesting in getting done as a filler. He was very helpful with design and black and grey coloring. Christian was extremely friendly and I enjoyed my experience at Logan Square Tattoo. Couldn't be happier with how the star came out.  People should stop in and ask for him. It took about almost 10 years for me to get another tattoo.  It's not that I was afraid of the pain, it's just work got in the way haha.  Anyway... there are not enough words to describe how I am extremely amazed and elated and happy and excited I went to get my tattoo here.  I'll say it to anyone who asks me about my tattoo... Mike Mac is the man.  From the moment I consulted until the time he wrapped up my tribute to Boba Fett, there wasn't a dull moment or ego and my awe and amazement (is that even a word??) of his talent and skill never wavered.  I sent him a few emails about what I wanted and even though he was on vacation, he still got back to me.  I gave him a few ideas and  he was able to bring it to life and was knowledgable of color, of what design looks good and how to position it.  He will ask about what your budget is and even if you are on a very tight budget, the tattoo he will design and do for you feels and looks like it was more than your budget (you know what I mean!!).  The shop is spacious and well lit and clean.  Aside from Mike, there's Gifford and Christian, both awesome and talented in their own right.  The three of them makes this shop a triple threat.  This is the place to get a truly unique and custom piece. This place is awesome and truly a custom tattoo studio as well. I wanted a unique piece which only had a few ideas (fruits, trees, birds) to drive it. Gifford was able to bring that into fruition through his illustrative talent, and the piece has come out beautifully and truly one of a kind. Just love Gifford and his tattoo & art work. You give him an idea and he makes it come alive on your skin, one of a kind tattoo just for you. The shop is first of all comfortable and NOT pretentious (like so many shops are) it's clean & they are very professional and in a really great location! I love that the shop Is Flash Free, just their art work on the walls!! I have a WIP going on and I can not stop looking at it already! He basically redid an entire tattoo for me that a less-than-talented tattoo artist did originally. I have a roughly 12 inch peacock feather on my shoulder that covered up an old tattoo from about 10 years prior that was almost totally solid black and about 6-9 inches long. My tattoo from the previous artist had cartoon-y neon colors, thick abrasive lines, harsh awkward shading, and much of the old tattoo showing still. Gifford transformed it into an absolutely beautiful work of art and turned it into the piece I had been hoping for from the beginning. There's variation in line weight, beautiful shading, more true-to-life color that is richer and much more attractive, and he gave the tattoo depth that it previously lacked. The first tattoo is not even recognizable through it now. The tattoo truly looks like a graceful feather draped over my shoulder now, which is exactly what I wanted.
