The unprofessional ethics of the new artist was surprising and very rude. However, the owner is a very stand up person and reached out to me after my bad experiences with the new artist. I was not aware that the artist who gave me the tattoo was new to this establishment and that he was not used to being asked a lot of questions due to it being my first time receiving a tattoo. I did not rate my overall experience 5 stars because of a few simple but nevertheless important factors. The first and most importantly, the new artist did not seem to like that I was asking questions about how to take care of my tattoo after he was finished. He was very blunt and gave me simple answers. However, I just researched it afterwards on youtube and got an in depth explanation. Secondly, the couch in the lobby had dog hair on the furniture, but that could have been from a prior customer. Additionally, my artist said "Oh I need to wash my hands" after he put the stencil on me, but he later told me it was because he picked something off the floor after the stencil was on me. First impressions are important and I was eerie because I was told by acquaintances who've already gotten tattoos from various locations, to watch out for small things like that because at the end of the day your skin is being cut open and you don't want your tattoo to get infected because it will not heal well and the tattoo will not come out pristine. Despite these little factors, the areas where you receive your tattoo were clean and sterile. Moving forward, when it was time to pay, my artist told me that the tattoo cost $130 and I payed him $200. He said he only had $45 in change and we agreed that I would come by the next day to get the rest of the change, which would be $25. The next day he said I could come get my $5 in change, I corrected him and said that he owed me $25. He said this because apparently his hourly rate was $75, which would make the total $150, since I was there for 2 hours. I was never informed of this hourly rate and even confirmed with him that the total was $130 before I left and made a note in my phone to pick up the $25 in change. This sparked an argument and the situation escalated quickly. Since he never asked me for a receipt, and was being very rude about the whole ordeal, I concluded that he was using his position to take more money than what was agreed upon. When I threatened to put this bad experience on yelp, the new artist called me a slanderer and even started to claim that I never even payed him and that he would like to meet with me so that I could pay for the tattoo. His unprofessional-ism perplexed me and I said I was going to take legal action to ensure that he didn't try to turn the whole situation around and destroy my public image. Due to being a public figure myself I was not going to stand for this blasphemy. THANKFULLY!! like I said before, the owner reached out to me and was very understanding and didn't immediately take the side of his new employee. We were able to work out the whole situation and the new artist admitted that I did pay, but that the price was actually more than what I thought we agreed upon. In the end, the owner offered to give me $25 and ensured that my public image wouldn't be stained. Read Less
