Got tattooed by Jay over 20yrs ago. And guess what...it's all held up fine. I have one of his very 1st cutbacks that he built at the same time(93), that I still use to this day with no issues. So anyone who would leave any review with less than a 5 star is either blind or vindictive. Read Less

What a great tattoo museum and shop! Hundreds of artifacts, hundreds of stories to go with! I like finding unique places like this where they take something cool and make it into an experience. Amazing tattoo shop! I was impressed with all the artifacts Jay has, hundreds from over his 30+ years of tattooing its incredible! I would definately suggest checking it out eveb if its just for the free museum. He loves to give tours of his shop and has so many great stories to tell. Def my fav tattoo shop in cda :)Read Less

I'm giving Jay's museum 5 stars! He has a wealth of tattoo history and memorabilia jam-packed into his studio. My husband even decided on a whim to get a tattoo, and Jay obliged, using a decades' old gun for the experience. Jay is interesting, unique, and very welcoming. If you are in the area and like tattoos and off-the-beaten-path stops, you should really stop in. Read Less

Great museum to visit! So much information and tattoo history in one place, and Jay has extensive knowledge of the items displayed. Wether you are a tattoo collector or a fellow artist you will enjoy a tour of the museum, just make sure to set a side a hour or two so you aren't rushing through. Don't forget that Jay also tattoos out of this space, so get a nice little memento you will never have to worry about losing. With 30 years in the trade you will be assured a great experience! I love Jay Brown's work and this shop! My boyfriend and I have gotten a few tattoos by Jay and I feel comfortable and proud to consider Jay the tattoo artist who has nailed traditional tattooing in the area with plenty of experience! My friend and I found this little museum while looking for quirky places to visit in Coeur d'Alene.  Neither one of us has tattoos or knows much about tattoo history.  The content of the museum would earn only three stars, but the owner's knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm made this visit a four-star experience.  The museum consists of hundreds of artifacts--tattoo machines, ink, flash sheets, vintage photographs, etc. from the twentieth and twenty-first century of tattooing in the United States--displayed around the walls and ceiling of Jay Brown's tattoo shop.  If I were just walking around looking at these items myself, I really wouldn't know what I was looking at, but Jay was glad to show us around and explain everything to us--for a whole hour.  He has turned his profession and personal collection into this museum and his enthusiasm and experience were clearly on display.  I would have liked to see more information/artifacts about tattooing in cultures and history around the world--although I'm not sure where Brown would fit any more items in the current building--and I wish there had been prints of some of the cool vintage photographs for sale.  I definitely would have purchased a copy of the beautiful photograph of Artoria Gibbons, a tattooed lady from early in the twentieth century (she makes tattoos look classy).  Overall my friend and I enjoyed this visit, and if I lived in the area and wanted a tattoo, I would definitely consider having Jay Brown be the artist. The museum is run by a tattooist and tattoo master with just under thirty years experience. The museum is a modest collection of everything from the last century of electromagnetic tattoo; and a little more. If you have any tattoo related questions/concerns, interest in tattoo history, or the need for a tattoo this is the place. A great educational outreach endeavor. Read Less
