I was excited about this place at first, my boyfriend and I didn't make an appointment and we were still able to get tatted right away which I definitely appreciate. We were both getting tiny matching heart outlines so we figured it would be pretty simple. Unfortunately, a few days later since the redness is gone and the ink has settled, my boyfriend and I can both see that our tattoos were done very poorly. First of all, the hearts don't even look similar even though we asked for the same one and the same outline was put on us. She obviously didn't follow the lines at all.Also, the lines are extremely crooked and uneven and there are several spots on both of ours where you can see mistakes that she made and didn't cover up. Her line work is honestly terrible. Each tattoo is only about half an inch so its a bummer that she didn't put more effort in since she made $140 in about 15 minutes. Overall I feel like since our tattoos were small and nothing exciting for the artist, we weren't taken seriously and ended up with horrible quality tattoos. Read Less

I love the Hawaiian Tattoo Company. It is great going to a tattoo studio where all the tattoo artists are women. I have had two tattoos done there by Clawz who is an incredible artist. The shop is very clean & I like the little pond they have in the front. Got tattooed by Clawz! Came in with my own picture & she was so awesome at resizing & tweaking it. The outline & shading process was cherreh. Shes very thorough & she always makes sure you're happy with the process. She's an awesome tattoo artist & I highly recommend this place! Me and my new bride came to Hawaii for our honeymoon, we have this thing that every new place we visit we both get a tattoo from the local area that we stay in. These two awesome ladies took us in at last min no questions asked and we are so thankful that we got the chance to meet and hang out with them for a few hours they made us feel like family and we couldn't be more happy with the awesome tattoo's. I went to Hawaii to visit a friend and I really wanted to get a tattoo done there.  I looked around but most of the shops required appts and I was low on time.  I found the HTC and decided to give it a shot.  I had heard that Michelle was a pretty awesome artist.  I set up an appt and let me tell you, these gals rock.  I came it with an archaic drawing (hey, I was trying) but with 3 concepts I wanted: Polynesian style, the word "pomaika'i" and I wanted some plumeria flowers.  Michelle took my request and built an awesome tattoo that incorporated all 3 things.  The size was pretty big yet the price was totally reasonable (I've had ink done in various states and I was surprised to see that she charged the least for what I thought was intricate work).It took about 4 hours from conception to the final ink and let me tell you, she does BEAUTIFUL work.  And I got to see her girl Sherry do a tat also, the Jameson label (that label has A LOT of small details and she captured all of them).  And the price she gave the dude was really good too.  So in conclusion, if you're in the area (they're in Kailua), definitely go check them out.  The shop is real zen, they're funny, great work, even better prices and they give you cookies. :)I seriously would go back to Oahu just to get more work from them. I got my very first tattoo here/from Michelle.  I remember the experience just like it was yesterday.  First, I came in with a picture of Jesus on the cross (From the Passion of the Christ) that I wanted and asked if they could do it for me.  The consultation and appointment process went by smooth.  The day I got my tat which was on my birthday, I was ready.  She had the flash sketched out and everything and adjusted it to where I wanted it to be.  Feeling the ink for the first time felt good.  Of course the needle hurt like heck but it was good.  The experience was a great one.  She gave me a decent price for the tat which took almost about 3 hours.  Although there was a lot of details into the piece, she did an awesome job. I went down to there S. MICHELLE IS THE BEST!  My gang of girlfriends and I made an appt with her to do a group tat and she abided even though she didn't really think that we were going to follow through (and didn't even require a deposit because only one of us could go in to make the appt and didn't have enough money on her to put down deposits for everyone).Lucky for us we did get our acts together and show up because we walked away really satisfied.  Our group is a bit much for anyone to handle at once, which Michelle found out, but she was sSUPER PATIENT, drew and redrew our concept, didn't get mad when we decided to go with a completely different idea, placed and replaced our stencils, dealt with our indecisiveness about placement on the body, our nervousness (for the first-timers in the group) and our general obnoxious volume level.  Also, having had three other tattoos myself, I can say, she tattooed REALLY light and fast (seriously minimal on the pain)!Basically, we all came out with a sick tattoo that we were all really really happy with, charged at $60/person (the shop minimum), with future touch-ups, and some great (ridiculous) pictures with our tattoo artist/new friend, Michelle.  She puts people at ease, is super chill, and really genuinely wants people to have a good tattoo experience and a piece that they're happy with for a really reasonable price.  HOLLER!
