Great experience with Matt.  This was my first tattoo and he came through with what I wanted.  It's was a fairly large piece and it took 5 hours, totally worth it!  Matt answered all my stupid questions and had the patience even when I didn't.  Next time I'm in Honolulu, I'm going to add on.  I would highly recommend his work. We were on vacation in Honolulu and called here to get 3 tattoos done. Bryce was able to squeeze us in for an appointment on Sunday (which was very generous cause he had somewhere he had to go!) and even though we had all gotten the same tattoo, Bryce really took the time to personalize each one of ours to make them uniquely us. Looked up this place last minute but was happy to find out that the cute tattoo artist was able to schedule me and my friend last minute, and had a slot at the time we were looking for. Arrive, and was able to be seen earlier then our time, drew our tattoo we brought but also added other options that he recommended. Very informative and nice person, enjoyed the music he was playing. Not only did they take, what we thought were going to be tracings and simple lettering, and add amazing artistry, but they stayed far after they’d be closed to work with us. Just got my first tattoo done by Bryce.  I called him and he told me to come into the shop.  The shop is very clean and it gave me a very comfortable feeling.  When I arrived he gave me a fair price and he was available to do it right there.  He took a lot of time to do the drawing and really took his time to make sure I loved the tattoo.  Love my new tattoo and I will be back.  I recomend everyone to go here and get there tattoos done by Bryce. I just recently signed back onto Yelp so this review is a month late. Anyways, about a month ago I got my tattoo done here by Bryce. I wanted to get my tattoo done the same day I walked in, before I chickened out, but due to timing, Bryce suggested that I come back the next day so he can have time to work on my design instead of rushing it and making it look crappy. So coming in the next day, he took the time to make what ever change I asked for and was absolutely patient with me. When it came time to start tattooing, he made sure that the stencil was placed perfectly. He had to do it several times till we got the perfect position and he actually changed the placing of my 'iwas and it ended up looking better than what I originally imagined. He was patient working out my design, totally professional with the work and cleanliness, and just lovely to spend a couple of hours with. I'm writing this as I'm sitting in his shop waiting for my girlfriend to get finished up (I got mine first).  Since we are just visitors to the area, we rely on recommendations and seeing work our friends have had done.  That said, we were originally going to go to Hawaii Tattoo Studio, but they were busy the weekend we were scheduled to be on island.  Sean at Hawaii Tattoo, recommended Bryce here at South Shore Ink.  I'm so glad he did.  I called Bryce and he was available, emailed him some concepts and pics of some ideas.  We met with him when we got into town, nailed down some ideas, set an appointment for 1:30 Saturday, and gave him a $50 deposit.   When we got in for our appointment, he had some art ready based on what we discussed, gave it some final tweaks and we were off and running.  He was pretty quick, did great work, and was very reasonable on price.  I will recommend him to any of my friends looking to get work done while on Oahu. The good: Bryce doesn't seem flaky like a lot of tattoo artists are (even friends of mine).  Shop is clean, parking is easy (metered parking, so being change) The bad:  um, that tattoos hurt a little???  There really isn't anything bad I can say about our experience here.  I guess that you have to feed the meter for parking, but that was less than $3. Wow, where to begin? I was on holiday in Hawaii with my dad for 2 weeks to celebrate my 21st. From the beginning, I had in my head that I wanted to leave with some form of tattoo (MY FIRST TATTOO) to remember my trip. After not being able to get an appt with my original studio of choice, I was recommended this alternative. Firstly, Bryce was EXTREMELY prompt at responding to my last minute message. He was enthusiastic, friendly, and made me more eager! He helped me choose what I was going to get, and pre-drew it up for me before I arrived! Amazing service. When I arrived he was ready to go and so professional. Even my dad agreed to get one done!!! Never in life has my disorganisation worked so much in my favour. I have received five tattoos frrom Kujo and am very satisfied!!! I am awaiting the sketches of two more and can't wait until I get the new work. Kujo is excellent at free hand tattooing, which is great because you know you are getting a one of a kind. Great studio! Bryce is a great guy, patient, and talented.  It's said that there is a choice of (a) fast, (b) good, and (c) cheap...pick 2.  Because the studio isn't in the heart of Waikiki where rent is out of control, you can still be assured of great quality, but at a price that isn't 25% more just because of location (cheap should never be an option!).  He did a nice job on a small project that was a first tattoo and made us feel comfortable and at ease. I went in to south shore ink to get a tribute tattoo a couple days after my friend passed away. It was a very special situation and my first tattoo. When i walked in I told them I was interested in making an appointment or possibly getting it then, if I felt comfortable enough. I showed Kujo what I wanted and he started sketching. Within 2 hours of walking in I had exactly what i wanted and my friends smile was bigger than ever :) thanks Kujo for contributing to this peaceful symbol of an amazing person. I got two tattoos by Bryce here when I was on vacation, one of them I love and the other not so much...it's over shaded and the shading and color are not very well blended. Also in a couple places the shading goes outside the lines which just shouldn't happen, any artist should know how to keep it in the lines but after four hours in the chair I was getting a little shaky so it's not all on him. Never met Kujo who apparently also works out of this shop but Bryce it pretty quiet but very personable. They also have Netflix so I could just lay back and watch movies which is a welcome distraction to 4.5 hours of constant pain!The price was reasonable for the amount of time the pieces took, I think he realized they could have been completed faster and charged me accordingly. As far as the quality of his work on skin I think he is only at about a 3 out of 5 so that is why I have not rated them higher. Read Less

Okay disclaimer - I didn't actually get a tattoo from here.  I chickened out.  BUT - when I do get one, I'll get it from here.  The tattoo artists are nice and the place is super clean, unlike some other shops I visited.  They do awesome custom work and are impressive artists (they have original paintings all over the walls).And bonus!
