Came in for my first tattoo. I called in a day or so prior and they were able to accommodate me / squeeze me in since it was small. She was super sweet and found a time slot for me! I sat with Mike and told/showed him what I wanted. He did a phenomenal job and it was over before I knew it. Took about 30 min or less for the back of my neck tattoo. When planning our trip to Hawaii, my husband and I knew we wanted to get tattoos while we were there. We did a ton of internet searching and we decided on Soul Signature. Since we were in Maryland at the time, we communicated through email before our trip. We stopped in the shop the day we arrived, put down our deposits and made our appointment with Jesico. Jesico did not disappoint! I told him what idea I was thinking about, and he free handed on my leg and it was perfect! If I had known how much attention I would get from these tattoos, I might have reconsidered getting them. Lol Everywhere I go, someone asks me where I get my tattoos. The majority of my tattoos have been done at soul signature, so I recommend them to anyone who says they want a tattoo. Justin did some lettering for me, but the real work started with Kyle. Kyle tattooed the traditional Japanese style tattoo on my right arm, and on my right leg. I still havn't finished my left leg so I didn't post a picture of it. They have a great team over there. A few years back, Aisea did my full length leg piece. I was so incredibly impressed not just with his work but with the education he offers about the tattoo he creates for you. At the time, they were located at the old shop and the vibe of the shop was literally like being at your uncle's house. It is like family in there. They are professional but so humble and down to earth. So here I come, flying in from LA years later, and wanted to have some work done to pay homage to my Samoan ancestors. The childhood home we grew up in on Likini St. in Aliamanu was "the family house" that everyone stayed in at some point in time when traveling between the mainland and Samoa. We had an Ulu tree in the backyard of the house that became our childhood hangout spot. The ulu represents so many familial memories and reminds me of my ancestors and lineage. Aisea was booked during my trip so Lopeti completed my piece. I told him my story and he made it come to life. I am SO PROUD of this tattoo and greatly appreciative of Lopeti's design. I will be graduating in May of 2019 with my doctorate and wanted to accept my diploma along with a symbol and representation of my roots, my family, and my home. The first time I went in I was really nervous, it was going to be my first tattoo and I really didn't know what to expect. I had been looking for a tattoo that could represent so many things that it seemed impossible to get in just one tattoo. Lopeti was super friendly. He was able to get everything done within my budget. His work was so good and he puts so much heart into his work that I decided to go back two weeks later to have him add onto it (this time without a very limited budget). My son got a tat for his 18 birthday. Wanted something to Express his coming of age and graduation from high school. Told him we wanted to do it in 3 phases. Arm, pec, n back or should blade as he reaches his accomplishments n stages in his life. So this tat would be a tattoo in progress n would have meaning to him and us as a family. Too many just start tats for no reason as a fad. But polys as a culture had meaning to their tattoos. W e trusted Aisea and wanted a polynesian tat that would reflect the 1st stage of his life as a hawaiian but giving respect to all polynesian cultures n embracing it. We trusted Aisea with coming up with a design. He sat and talked with him and spent quite a bit of time just building off of his "mana". Then drew it out on his arm. A beautiful reflection of polynesian roots n culture. They will not duplicate someone else's tat. I saw that first hand when a guy wanted the rocks tat done. He was told no. This is our 3rd trip  to Soul Signature from Webster City, Iowa. Let me tell you, they are a very amazing group of people and artists. The shop is clean and has a very inviting atmosphere. My husband has had Kyle do a Polynesian sleeve and his work is amazing. Kyle and Mike has done frogs on my legs and I love them. I visited the place on a friend's recommendation and got hooked. Super friendly, easy to find, the place is extremely clean and welcoming. I had a quick consultation with Lopeti and was scheduled for 2 days later as I was going back home shortly after. Lopeti is an amazing artist, I couldn't love my tattoo more than I do! I only told him a few things about myself and what I was very vaguely looking for and let him work his magic. He has a very gentle touch and was encouraging when things got more painful. My entire left arm is tatted up. While visiting Hawaii I decided to move to my right arm and get a tattoo to commemorate the visit.  I visited something like 6 shops near Waikiki.  The prices were not only ridiculous for something small (one place quoted me $600) but they kept trying to talk me into getting some tiny, generic crap. Fortunately, the valets at our hotel were tatted up and two of them recommended Soul Signature.I had to make a flight and I only had so many hours and so much cash to spend.Their receptionist was very helpful and set me up a quick walk-in appointment. The artist (Michael) took his time to get the drawing right and said their mission was to "separate the tourist from the tattoo" ( I was extremely self-conscious about getting something with a Polynesian design sensibility without looking like a culture-appropriating-tourist douchebag)I told him my budget and he worked with me. He did a great piece that takes up a good portion of my arm when he could have been lazier/quicker. He added small details and shading that I didn't know would be possible in our limited time-frame. He finished in what thought was a good amount of time and I couldn't be more pleased with the result--a great start to my right sleeve.If you visit Honolulu and want to get a tattoo, just know that I already did the legwork and research for you. The other shops made up these magic minimums and didn't try to hear what I wanted.  If you want quality and artists who will give you the most for your money, I highly recommend Soul Signature Read Less

Quality work! I can't say enough about the piece I got from Aisea, masterfully blended an old piece I had with the new; using both machine and tapping. This place does look a bit out of sorts from the outside. I did have the advantage of observing quite a few interactions in my very long appointment. The staff was very polite and respectful to everyone that came through the door. Negative vibes were kept to a low. I was impressed to see the number of return customers coming in, who had just come back to the island. I was even more impressed how well he remembered their clients even some from as far as three years back. As I said before, not enough positive things can be said about the shop. I just got my first tattoo here and I really can't sing enough praise for this parlor.  Justin was a fantastic artist who kept me engaged through out the experience and everyone was happy talking with me.  It just made what should have been a tense experience really comfortable.  Before I knew it nearly 3 hours had passed and I was done.  Got wrapped up and given plenty of advice and was told I should call if I need any touch ups.  This place is worth way more than I was charged and I will most definitely be back for another session. My boyfriend and I went in for tattoos.  Eugene was our artist.  I believe he is on the big Island now. Originally very happy with the shop and service.  My tattoo turned out nicely. However, my boyfriends tattoo looks very scratchy and unfinished, rushed. We live on the mainland and won't be back soon.  We were told they have a sister shop in Oakland. We have emailed back and forth with the shop and after sending pics of my guys tattoo we haven't heard back from them.  We spent almost a grand here and to get no response is ridiculous.  I hate to leave a bad review but when we have tried to reach out and the business doesn't return communication I had no choice.  Will consider removing review if they contact us to make it right. After trying a shop by Ala Moana, that was extremely rude and refused to tattoo my aunt because she wanted it on her hand, I found this place because of the raving reviews. That was honestly the best decision I've made. I love this shop! Right from the beginning we were treated so nicely and everyone was extremely helpful. I called and told them what happened and they were able to fit us in that same day with Kyle. They turned our day, which had started off horrible, into a great experience. Ever since that first encounter, I've come back about four more times and my mom has even flown from the mainland to get another tattoo; she's looking to come back again to get more. These tattoo artists have been tattooing for 15+ years, they have put their heart and souls into each tattoo they do, hence the name SOUL SIGNATURE, if you want cheap/free tattoo you are more than welcome to find a place that's gives out cheap/free tattoos but keep in mind, you get what you pay for.Secondly if you are not a tattoo artist please do not tell the artists how to do a tattoo, especially for Polynesian pieces, If you don't understand the symbolism/meaning of a Polynesian design, do not complain that it is done wrong because you don't know that. That maybe the way the design is. If you have questions ask the artist, don't take it upon yourself to assume and make judgment. Read Less

Walked in and was greeted by Eugene as they were closing so I made an appointment with the only available person for the following day, which was Kyle. When I showed up to my appointment, Kyle had double booked himself so I ended up waiting an hour until he finished his previous appointment and then it was my turn. I had a design in mind but when asked his opinion, he couldn't really give good recommendations and couldn't grasp the concept of what I wanted. In the end, what he tattooed did not match my vision and I was very unhappy, disappointed, and embarrassed with the end result. Here's the kicker. He messed up on my tattoo, drawing an extra random diagonal line in a symbol where there should not be one. It is very obvious but it's on my back so I didn't notice it until I got home. Kyle never mentioned it and I had to discover it on my own. When you leave your client with a permanent mistake and not say anything about it, that's Shady! Their price is affordable however I will need to spend money at another tattoo shop to get Kyle's mistake covered or corrected... so it's not as affordable as I originally thought. Lesson learned. Awesome experience!  While I was there I saw these guys do about 3 different tattoos, all different styles and they looked to great.  the service was friendly and professional.  But the best part for me was that, if you follow the rules and respect the culture and ceremony of it, they do traditional, hand tapped Polynesian tattoos.  I laid there for about two hours talking about Polynesian culture and history while Aisea, the Tufunga (tapping artist) used traditional tools and methods to give me best tattoo yet.  Couldn't be happier! Omg!! It's been almost a year since I got my first tattoo and last night I had the urge to get more work done!! My girl Amanda works over at Soul Signature and suggested I come down and get some work done, so I did and man am I glad that I came down. Every second I spent down there was worth it! I came in with a picture of a lotus that I wanted done on my hip and it came out more beautiful than I can imagine! :') I got hooked up wuth their tattoo artist, Justin and he is ON POINT, FRESH AF. It took about an hour and a half for him to recreate the lotus with the chandelier design that I gave him. It was perfectly symetrical and clean. After that I hopped up on the table. I was worried the entire time because I've heard stories about where tattoos would hurt, and i was getting my hip done. Justin calmed me down though reassuring me that in the end it is always worth it. The session was about two hours long and I must say it was painful. But in the end just watching him perform, it was epic. The lines are perfect and the shading was even better. I am so happy that I came down to Soul Signature last night!
