AMAZING! Serious, high quality tattoos in an awesome and friendly environment. I've been to quite a few tattoo shops and am usually greeted with artists or shop managers that just seem ambivalent and kinda cranky towards patrons. NOT AT MYSTIC OWL! All the staff are very friendly and helpful, taking the time to ensure you get not only an incredible quality tattoo but also enjoy yourself with friendly people and high quality banter. Vince did an incredible sleeve for me that also covered up an old tribal arm band i got in college. You can't even tell it was ever there! Vince Villalvazo and his crew at Mystic Owl Tattoo are the very best. I've had Vince working on a Hammer Horror movie sleeve for a little a year and a half. It's absolutely stellar. The line work and his excellent eye he has for color make the tattoo look brilliant. I am immensely pleased and they have nothing but the highest of recommendations from me. Maybe the friendliest staff I've come across at a tattoo shop in my 10+ years of getting work done. Very detailed and knowledgeable of their craft. I paid about $600 for a 3 hour session for a half sleeve and im satisfied with my finished product. Most people dont know exactly what to expect when getting work done but with tattoos YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET. Would not recommend for a small tattoo because you have to pay for time at this location, but would highly recommend for something extensive with detail. I heard of Mystic Owl because I had a friend that worked there. Well, he moved and I wanted my dogs paw print tattooed on me so I decided to contact mystic owl and see who they recommended do it. I used the online form and they got back to me fairly quickly and asked a few questions to help clarify exactly what I wanted. Then, they set me up with a consultation with Johnny because he is good at doing black and white tattoos. I came in and he sat down with me for a few minutes, I gave him my Sophie's paw print that he made a copy of, we talked about the saying I wanted with it, the lettering, and where I thought it would go. I was unsure of the placement at that moment but he said he was going to make it so that it would look good anywhere. They asked for a $60 deposit and he charges $150 an hour. I was a-okay with all of that. Day of the appointment comes and he shows me the tattoo and I love it so I decided to put it on my arm. He asked me to give him a few minutes to set up and then we got started. It took him less than 40 minutes to finish the entire tattoo. I couldn't believe it and it looked so good! I am thrilled with it and I will definitely be back to Mystic Owl to get more tattoos. I enjoyed the entire experience. Read Less

Looking through Yelp, I saw where Tara at Mystic Owl Tattoo had several excellent reviews. Knowing this tattoo was on my face, I was very particular about who I wanted to do the work. In the past few weeks, I've gotten 2 tattoos at Mystic Owl. I had been eying them for a while and recently saw the work of Johnny P. on their website. He has the exact aesthetic I wanted. I took a very simple tattoo in to get and also got a consult on a larger piece at the same time. I LOVE that they redraw each design. No printed online images; even if your inspiration is something from the web, they will completely redraw it and make it unique for you. AMAZING! I saw Chris to begin the process of my sleeve and I have paw prints with my dog's faces in them and it looks like I have a legit picture on my arm. He is amazing. The entire staff was amazing, from the first consult to the actual appointment. So had my first experience with Mystic Owl today.  I was lucky enough to have Vince, the owner, do my tugboat tattoo.   His sketch and his choice of layout exceeded my expectations.  He had creative control and his color and shading choices were phenomenal.  His passion for his work and the  genuine excitement he felt towards doing my tattoo made my personal experience memorable. The man even bought me lunch!!!!  Whaaaaaaaaa!!!! The Mystic Owl is easily the best tattoo shop in Marietta. The interior is bright, clean and inviting. My first experience was truly ideal. From the helpful staff who quickly and politely greeted me to the artist who worked with me, I felt truly welcomed. The artist, Thomas Sands was polite and listened to my idea. Not only did he redraw what I brought in better than I ever could have, he allowed me to replace the stencil multiple times without complaint. The atmosphere and chairs were so comfortable that I hardly even noticed the work being done. I know that all the artists there are amazing, but my experience with Thomas was what I consider the modern tattoo experience to be all about. He truly cared and made sure I received exactly what I wanted. The one thing Thomas was a little pushy on was the Redemption aftercare product and man am I glad he was! I got the large for only ten dollars since I got a fairly large tattoo, but will probably only end up using a third like they said. My recovery has never been this pain free. Aquaphor and other petroleum based products don't even come close. The entire crew at The Mystic Owl know what they are doing. Professional, friendly, clean, talented individuals who truly care. I wanted to wait til the tattoo (my 5th) had fully healed before I wrote a review here, and now that it's been 3 months, I can officially dish out the 5 stars Mystic Owl deserves.Carlos did a watercolor thigh piece for me and it came out beautifully. I had an idea of what I wanted overall and brought a few reference photos in, but I gave him creative license with the details. I'm so glad I did. Carlos is talented and professional and it shows in his tattoos. The shop as a whole is clean and their customer service is excellent. I chose this shop because of their high rating and glowing Yelp reviews, and I'm happy to add my name to the list of very satisfied customers. To answer questions someone might have:- I don't know what shop minimum is, but as far as I'm aware the minimum hourly rate is $150- You'll have to have a consultation for bigger pieces, and if you want to schedule the tattooing appointment you'll need to put down a deposit (for me it was 1 hour's worth)- Yes, they take credit cards- Yes there's a free parking lot- They take walk-ins but they're pretty busy so I would suggest calling ahead anywayI know it's a little pricey but it's so so worth it. Where to begin? I contacted Vince about a memorial piece back in January – less than a month after my Grandmother passed away when emotions were still high and raw. We communicated through his website working out initial design ideas. I never had to wait more than 12 hours for a response from him or someone on his team. We finally were able to coordinate our schedules for early September. Upon walking into the shop for the first time I was immediately impressed by how clean it was. I have seriously NEVER walked into a cleaner tattoo shop than this one. It sparkles. There wasn’t a streak of dirt to be found, no cobwebs, no nastiness on the baseboards. .Everyone was incredibly friendly which was also unusual for a shop like this. Many other shops can feel intimidating to walk into – not Mystic Owl. I was greeted warmly by Tara and the other artists as well. They immediately made me feel comfortable and what little nerves I was feeling dissolved away into nothing but excitement.Vince came out and showed me his sketch and I was blown away. It was bigger than I was planning on getting, but after looking at the sketch itself I realized that through our conversations Vince had really understood the concept of what I was going for with this piece – how much it means to me as a memorial piece and he had gone above and beyond what I was expecting. I was stoked and ready to go.I knew going in that this was going to be my biggest piece thus far. I guess it can be considered almost a half sleeve since it extends from my back and behind my arm, over the cap of my shoulder and down almost to my elbow. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to sit long enough but Vince was incredibly gentle, made sure that I was comfortable and didn’t work in one spot for so long that it became unbearable.I’m thrilled to death with this piece, with the way I was treated at Mystic Owl and the entire experience. He is joined by Jace Masula, also nationally recognized for his incredible skills, having worked with Brandon Bond. Finally Tim Orth has been added to the staff, Tim is one of the finest tattooers of women and the woman's form in the country. His skills range from japanese, realism and portrait styles.
