I was looking for someone to do a small tattoo behind my ear, and the guy who's done my last two pieces was just super-booked, so I decided to jump onto Yelp, and see what I could find up North. Once in a Blue Moon jumped out at me, and the rest is history. Located on Phil Neikro, capping a gas station, just off of 985, you'll find this tiny shop/art gallery, with the absolute coolest people on the planet. Heather and Kerry Brown are the owners, and Bri Robinson was the artist I barged in on for consultation, and initially, to have do the work the very next day. Bri was awesome. I came in at exactly noon, and she had my art work drawn up and ready, Heather did the waiver, I waited for Bri to get her gear set up, and in under twenty minutes, she was finished with my tattoo! Now again, I wanted something really small, and she did an amazing job, which is hard to do especially when it's small. The bigger, the easier, or so I'm told. I'm super-thrilled, and couldn't have asked for a nicer artist to do the work. If you're looking for someone to do some amazing work, come see the folks here at Once in a Blue Moon. After searching around for a solid artist to work on my sleeve, Daniel kept being referred to me by several friends who have pieces by him or know someone who has used him. I looked at his work on Facebook and Instagram, and decided to set an appointment with a couple months of prep time. I live about 45 minutes to an hour away from the shop, so we decided against an in-person consultation, and used email communication, which was very helpful. Daniel was so knowledgeable about how and where to do the layout, and he was very open to my ideas. I went for my first appointment yesterday, and I could not be more pleased with the whole experience! The shop was clean, and everyone was very friendly, professional, and laid back. What can I say about the artist? Daniel made me feel comfortable and relaxed the whole time. I was nervous at first because during all of my other tattoos, I got dizzy and nauseated from the needles and the pain. But Daniel took note of this, and (belive it or not) I did not even get slightly dizzy at all the entire time! And... Just WOW, words cannot express how amazing the quality of the work is! I am blown away by the amount of detail and precision in my piece, and how he used his own style to bring my piece to life. I can't wait to go back for more! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I went in for a new piercing with Derrick and he does and excellent job! He made sure the placement was right and looked good before putting in any jewelry. Once in a Blue Moon Tattoo Heather was patient and answered all of our questions on daith (pronounced "Doth") piercings. I am a longtime sufferer of both headaches and migraines and would have gotten pierced everywhere multiple times if it would've help. Heather told me to take one step at a time, do one side and wait till it heals and see if it helps. IF I still am suffering after 3 to 6 months, try the other side. A lot of people would have just pierced both sides and taken my money and not worried about how I would heal or sleep or anything afterward. She was so kind, understanding and funny, not to mention so very cute! I hope this gives me back some normalcy in my life, I'll find out in a couple of months and update it later. But Heather at Once in a Blue Moon is a gem. I will be back, if not for more ear piercings for me and my daughters, then maybe for a teeny, time tattoo after I come back from Japan (no public baths for ladies with tattoos!) Although I wasn't the one receiving the tattoo I was just as nervous since this was my son's first tattoo and neither of us knew exactly what to expect. Heather was great at making us feel comfortable and at ease that he was in good hands. I was very impressed with Kerry's attention to detail. Found my new addiction, Once In a Blue Moon is an excellent place to go to if you've been wanting to finally get that tattoo you've been thinking about for years, take it from me.I met Kerry and told him I was in search of a very special tattoo artist, that person needed to understand my vision and be as passionate about the tattoo I wanted as I was...the reason being that my tattoo had tremendous sentimental value to me and it was a part of my heritage. I've been putting off getting this tattoo for years because I never met that someone I thought was worthy/capable  of helping me, until I met Kerry.He was very patient with me, as I struggled to describe what I wanted. They are so nice and they make you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. I drove over an hour to get to the shop, and I would do it all again. I visited this shop on a whim after having wanted to get my nose pierced for a while. I was nervous before even walking in. I was immediately greeted by Mia whose warm smile and laid-back demeanor made me feel immediately at ease. The entire shop was clean and welcoming, and once I spoke to Mia, I was ready to have the piercing done! She was quick and efficient, and she explained everything to me. At 30 years old I got my first tattoo at Once In a Blue Moon. My best friend has gotten a few done from Kerry so I went with her back in February to watch her get another so I could see the process. The decision to get the tattoo wasn't easy as I am not a fan of needles. But the tattoo I wanted was in honor and memory of my mom who passed away when I was a kid. So picking the right person for this was extremely important to me. After watching my friend get hers and see how patient Kerry was with making sure she liked the trace and position of the tattoo I know this is where I wanted to get mine done. In March I went back and got mine and a month later I'm still so in love with the results. I wish I could post a picture of the end product on here.
