I was super nervous to get my conch and upper lobe piercings when I came in last June but the guy who helped me out was super nice and tolerant when I kept blabbering about how nervous I was and helped distract me from the pain. I'm a high anxiety kind of person so the anticipation of piercings scares me more than the actual pain itself. I actually initially only went in for the conch, but after getting it, I had such an adrenaline rush, I decided to get my lobes done too. Man with a mustache pierced me and was extremely rude, pierced me with the wrong sized jewelry, and when i asked him to take it out because it was so ugly and he refused. 2 weeks ago today I had a pretty big tattoo done by a gentleman named Charley at this shop. I was a little hesitant at first just because this was a first tattoo for me by this shop but Charley came highly recommended. First impression was the shop was indeed clean. Charley was enthusiastic, easy going and was really looking forward to doing my tattoo, which was comforting since he didn't view this important tattoo for me as just another couple hours at work. The artwork I chose was pretty detailed, a snake with lots of scales and a human skull, some lightning, etc. The image is "McGill skull n snake" easily googled, an old skateboard graphic from 80s era. Well 2.5 hours in the chair later I can only say Charley nailed it. The tattoo I received was picture perfect and exactly what I wanted. I couldn't be happier. Also, this is the only tattoo Ive gotten that has not scabbed up at all. I followed Charley's aftercare instructions thoroughly and the tattoo looks vibrant and fresh albeit only 2 weeks later. I know scabbing is a natural healing process but this tattoo has not scabbed at all due to the washing and care I have given it. I know reviews hold a lot of weight and Ive noticed a small amount of reviews with negative tones are always from people who did NOT actually choose to get tattoos here and were turned off by the owner's suggestions and advice on the size or placement of the tattoos. I did meet the owner and honestly he just seemed like a normal good guy who is trying to inform you on making the best decision. Tattoos are forever after all. The owner seemed to me to be a good professional with tons of experience but I was dealing with Charley overall. My advice is to meet the artists, view their work and sit still and you'll receive a high quality tattoo. Again, Charley Ferlito did mine and was my only experience with American Classic Tattoos but the owner was cool and although price is the very last concern for me with a tattoo, I was pleasantly surprised what a fantastic price I did get quoted. I plan on getting more work done and Charley Ferlito will be my artist at American Classic Tattoos. Hope this helps for people considering this shop. Read Less

This has been one of the most pleasurable experiences iv ever had at a shop. The guys her are very nice and honest also the shop was VERY VERY VERY CLEAN! The man who tattooed me. "Wish I got his name" (owner) gave me advise on a piece I wanted done on my hand location and size he swayed me to change a couple of things and the way he explained it to me I could tell he knew what he was doing. The end result being one of my best tattoos so far. If I could put in in a couple of words all I could say is best tattoo shop in Athens by far. I went /years/ ago to get my lip piercing done. The staff was very friendly and it was basically an in and out job for me. Planning to go back and get the piercing re-done since it closed up after about six months (my fault for losing the ring). I've had 3 tattoos done here and Mark is great!! He's very honest on what will and will not work due to size. They may seem stubborn due to size requirements but they are correct. Best to be honest upfront than regret it later. All 3 have been ideas I've shown up with and Mark personalized it and made them perfect. I refuse to go anywhere else. After already having both of my traguses pierced I went in Saturday(9-26-15) to get my rook pierced. I had read the reviews on here and people gave the piercer, Dae, great reviews. I concur! He is GREAT!! Very thorough w/ the explanation of the process and about the sterilization of the tools. I like my piercing, however, when I got home I realized that it isn't that visible to ME when I look at it in the mirror. I will possibly let it heal then go back to get it re-pierced so that I can see it when I look in the mirror! Overall I would mos. def. recommend Dae for all your piercing needs! Read Less

I went in today for a helix piercing. I was very pleased with the price. The gentleman who performed it (Dae) was very kind and very thorough in explaining exactly what was going on and was fun but still very professional. He made the piercing virtually painless. He made sure to put it in the perfect place and let me decide if it was where I wanted it. After it was done he went through each step for the after care. Dae is awesome. He did navel piercings on me and my friend and it was hands-down the absolute best experience I have ever had with a needle in my entire life--I'm completely TERRIFIED of needles and he made me feel comfortable and somehow made it not hurt at all. All my friends have gotten tattoos here as well and none of them have ever had a single complaint--they got awesome designs, the staff is wonderful, and even years later the tattoos look amazing. Haha, American Classic is really a great place, so it's odd to see all the negative reviews. They aren't the friendliest, but at least they're honest. I'd rather someone tell me they couldn't do a piece (whether it's their fault or the customers) than attempt to do it when the artist was not comfortable with the design or scale. Dae pierced my nose tonight and did such a great job! I was terrified, but he put me at ease right away. He was very friendly and knowledgable, and walked me through the whole procedure. I have a lot of sensitivities and allergies, and Dae was very accommodating. The shop was clean, and everyone there was really great with me. Not entirely sure why there are so many negative reviews about Mark but I've gotten several large pieces from him & I have absolutely no complaints. Sure, he is not afraid to tell you if your original design will not look flattering, but he has been tattooing for quuuiiite a way, I think he knows what he is talking about! He was nice but he put the piercing in where the disc was in the front rather than the back and the ball was in the back rather than the front. I didn't like it. I didn't know he was going to put the ball in the back cause at other places I've been to, most asked before they put the piercing in or most usually just put the ball in the front with the disc in the back. I was annoyed that he didn't ask cause obviously to change it, he took the piercing out when my ear was swollen and when blood already started rushing into my ear; it was SOO painful when he did that. He was annoyed that I wanted the ball in the front but nevertheless changed it for me. WELL DUDE YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME! They claim to be better than Midnight Iguana and the likes but I had a better experience at Midnight. They're a little cheaper than most tattoo/piercing shops though so that's a pro. Read Less

I went to the place based on a reputation that was apparently gained before the current owner bought it. I wanted to get a zombie tattoo and made it pretty clear what I was looking for. After explaining the tattoo to him he basically told me it was stupid and impossible ( which I later found out to mean he was incapable of drawing and too egocentric to admit it). Terrible experience with this guy. The worst part was watching his employees try to avoid the Napoleonic behavior. Small man with a huge EGO. What an A-HOLE. I will never go back nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. Read Less

Normally I rate food only, but I believe this deserves another review. I highly recommend coming here to get your piercings. The place is a fairly clean environment (a HUGE factor for me), and the service was WONDERFUL. Okay... So I got referred by a friend to go to American Classic to get my first tattoo. She referred Mark to me. Well, the first time I went inside, I thought that it was a very nice tattoo parlor and was happy with the service that I received. the guy that I spoke with was EXTREMELY nice but unfortunately I didn't catch his name. Well, because he wasn't the person that I was looking for and apparently the owner (Mark) has to approve every design, he told me to come back in about an hour and a half. I came back and spoke with the same nice guy. He went to go get Mark so that I could speak with him... He was an A******. He was soooo conceited about his knowledge on tattoos and basically didn't want to answer any of my questions. I felt insulted because he made me seem stupid because of all of the questions that I was asking. Of course i'm going to ask a lot of questions... This is my first tattoo. I felt as if he was giving me a way over the top estimate for the design that I wanted because you can sure as heck believe that I went somewhere else and they charged half of what he was wanting to charge me. I went in to discuss a tattoo that I wanted to get for my b-day. This would be my 4th tattoo. I knew what I wanted but wasn't sure how it would look so I asked Mark if he could draw me something. He told me no and to come back when I was ready to actually get the tattoo. He was very rude. Well a few friends said to give him another shot so I did. I went back a week later and talked with the other guys in the shop and they all were very cool. Mark walked in and looked right at me and said ""you again!"", I have never been so embarrased and he continued to trash me in front of everyone.
