Well I had the day off work and I was trying to cross things off my to-do list several months ago I had got a black and grey rose ,the tattoo was unfinished it needed to be shaded a little bit and it needed black around the perimeter of the tattoo to make the centerpiece pop out on a whim I decided to call I talked with Dana on the phone she was very professional courteous and helpful she allowed me and my service dog whiskers a 6 pound Yorkie come in there and get our tattoo she was an amazing person and a very great tattoo artist she did an awesome job at a very affordable price I would recommend the shop to anyone, all the other artists look very professional and all the staff were very friendly and courteous and down to earth folk I am very into black and grey work and I'm looking forward to making an appoinappoi with Johnny mumbles and getting a portrait tattoo so I definitely will be back there again can't wait pound 5 stars ,,thanks again Dana and hula moon tattoo Read Less

This was several years ago that I visited Hula Moon Tattoo Studio. I had a tattoo on my shoulder that I wanted to get covered up. So I walked into Hula Moon and saw two guys sitting on the couch. I asked, "Do you guys work here?" Hell, I didn't know. I had to ask because they were talking to one another as I stood there. So one guy says, "Yes." So I asked him if they could possibly do a tattoo cover up job for me. They guy didn't even bother to get his lazy ass off the couch and even look at my tattoo. He just responded with, "Just go to the beach and get sunburned a lot!" I felt like knocking the guy's teeth out, but in the state of Florida, you can just threaten someone verbally about kicking their ass, don't even have to touch them, and you can be arrested for assault. Anyway I left and took my business elsewhere. I have told several tattoo shops about how HULA MOON treated me and everyone I told the story to asked me, "Did they really say that to you?" Didn't get tattooed, got a piercing as did my neice and cousin. Great service, they fully explain the the process for each piercing, very professional and sanitary! I would definitely go to them again if I were to get another piercing. I got a Daith piercing for headache, I was not a believer, but figured it wouldn't hurt and I liked the location. I was in an accident 4 years ago and have needed damage causing me to wake most mornings with a migraine type headache. I have not had a full blown headache of any kind since I got the piercing. So many friends recommend me to get my first tattoo at HMTS because that is where they get all of theirs and they are beautiful, haunting and/or thought-provoking. Actually my husband and I plan to do exactly that in 2018. We both are B+ and everyone talks about how we bring some kind of brightness to the saddest situations. Who knows? Jesse is the man. I searched around looking for someone to do a Gil Elvgrin style pin up (with a touch of Krispy Kreme) for me as this was my first tattoo. Just got pierced by Ed today. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything with detail. Ed was also very careful to make sure my piercing was fit for my body (triple forward helix) and also ensured that placement of the earrings would be aesthetically pleasing as well as comfortable. To ensure adequate healing, he was very strict about limiting my session to two piercings and returning later for the third piercing. All the tools and accessories are either disposable or are sanitized. He was polite, professional, and friendly. I would recommend him to anyone considering a piercing. Read Less

The "piercer" that was working today was incredibly rude and condescending. Probably won't be back. I had heard great things about Hula Moon and the reviews seemed to confirm that. I'm confused why I was treated so poorly. The first gentleman who greeted me was helpful and polite! I had a question about purchasing new dermal heads and so he went to grab the piercer. Once he came out I explained why I was there - pretty clearly I thought. He mentioned he had some people ahead of me, and I told him that I was totally fine with that and not trying to have work done today. I explained that I only wanted to look at the jewelry they had available, but he just changed to a more hostile tone and repeated the same thing to me as if I were a confused child. I'm not an idiot.  I've just never been to Hula Moon before and was asking for guidance.  No one deserves to be talked down to like that, especially not a potential paying customer.  I was looking forward to getting these piercings changed and having tattoo work done at Hula Moon in the future. I have been to many tattoo shops over the years (I'm 55 y/o and a old Sailor.. haha) and I can tell you this is the best shop out there. Gabe and the entire HM family make you feel at home and welcome you, unlike many shops that just want your money.  I have received two full sleeves, full back piece and full calf piece and am extremely pleased with all of them. I went in to have shells put on my mermaid, and a touch up if needed. The artist I booked with was Gabe. The shop came highly recommended and everyone there was cool. No problems there. After my shells were done he started into touching up. What I'm unhappy about is that without asking me he completely changed her face. Her eyes don't match now, her nose is different and he also changed her mouth. He only touched up certain parts and to be honest the tattoo was nice and now her face looks awful.She's not cute like she was. Her hair also looks crazy now. I don't know if this is fixable but if you decide to go here be cautious. I went in confident having read the reviews and came out very disappointed. And the shells are very small and plain, kind of hard to tell what they are. I could totally forgive that but the face is weird now. Not good! Read Less

I found Hula Moon after searching the area for piercers and decided to go after reading the reviews.Upon entering I was greeted and felt welcomed! First impressions are everything, shortly after I met with their pierced Ed who is extremely professional and knowledgeable. I went to get my nipples pierced ( pre-life crisis) and was very impressed by how thorough Ed was going over the procedure, healing and do's and donts. After that he told me when I was comfortable I could remove my shirt/bra (I cannot stress enough how comfortable Ed made me feel which is huge as a woman who is kind of modest). He did a great job making sure that the piercings were even and I felt that they were done very quick and I wouldn't say painless but it didn't last long and I would do it again! I had Ed give me a nose piercing and a third set of ear lobe piercings a couple months ago. Not only did he do a great job, but he's very professional and holds your comfort above all else. He does his best to make sure you are at ease every step of the way. His whole station is very tidy and clean and he talks you through everything he does. I've had two piercings done at Hula Moon,  and two done at other shops.   I have to say,  no one compares to Hula Moon,  and even though I've moved away I would make the drive to the shop for another piercing. My piercer,  I believe his name is Ed,  was extremely professional.   He explained aftercare in detail before we got started with the piercing,  including information about the different kinds of piercings (because I've had two done,  he gave specific advice for each one).   He didn't try to press any aftercare products on me,  just gave frank,  good advice.   He asked twice if I had any more questions,  which I did,  and answered them knowledgeably.  As he was getting equipment ready he made sure to explain everything that he was doing and show everything in its sterilized packages,  and he was also funny and a good conversationalist so it didn't feel awkward or nervous.   He explained the method he uses for piercing,  a explained that some places do it differently,  so I learned something as well.   He took time marking the area and measuring it,  making sure that I was okay with the placement.   The actual piercing was quick and nearly painless.   And on top of that,  the price was really reasonable!  If you live nearby,  or even within a couple of hours,  definitely choose Hula Moon. I called later afternoon on Valentine's Day to see if I needed an appointment for a nose piercing. They told me that if I got there very soon I could get it done. 20 mins later I was in the shop getting ready. The piercer was very knowledgeable and well spoken. He was confident in his advice and guided me through jewelry choices and placement. I'm not a super picky person, but he was very patient when I asked him to draw various dots on my nose. He measured the thickness of my nose and everything to create a custom-fit piece for my piercing. So glad I went to a shop this time instead of doing it at home. It was clean and welcoming and amazing Gabe sat with us and talked to us about some of his older work and some of the great artist he had up on the walls. I was tattooed  The ever so lovely lo who did a  Memorial tattoo for my son. I got a quote and his hand prints. She worked with me gave me ideas and was super chill when I walked in the day of my tattoo and changed where and what I wanted. because I lost my son so little his hand prints are no bigger than a nickel and she tattooed them exactly as his hand prints were. she did amazing. I had wanted to get an anchor tattoo for a  time and had just not gotten it done for some reason. When I came  to Pensacola fresh out of bootcamp I started to look for tattoo shops And was honestly horrified at the stuff I had been seeing online as well as on my fellow shipmates. I basically shut down the idea of getting a tattoo while I was here until I discovered shauncy. He popped my tattoo cherry with the exact anchor I pictured in my head but described terribly. He was quick and very reasonably priced. The only bummer is something I really actually liked about him which was walk ins only. I went tonight for a nose piercing after having read the reviews. After having been pierced eleven times, I knew what to expect and generally what service I should see.I was wrong and so was every place that I have ever been pierced at. I wasn't a bother, or someone with unfortunate timing that made them impatient and ready to rush through.Gabe took his time and his effort to ensure that every single step of the process was explained and patiently answered all of my questions regarding not only the piercing, but possible future tattoos. Spoke to a worker on the phone about getting an ONI mask tattoo. They told me to come in the next day and bring the tattoo design so we can speak about it. Did just that only to meet up with the rude and disrespectful manager that worked there. I can understand being under staffed but there is no excuse for rude behavior and bad customer service. The manager seemed bothered by me being there. Went to electric graffiti and immediately upon walking through the door I was greeted and welcomed into a better atmosphere. Received a tattoo from a fellow service member and I'm extremely satisfied with my tattoo. On a final note no level of skill is worth a bad tattoo experience. Our tattoo guy was rude and horrible. (see picture) My friend and I have been planning on getting compass tattoos for 5 years. We finally were together on vacation and went to Hula Moon. I think our mistake was telling the guy that we were from out of town. He just rushed us through and didn't really care about the finished product. Wll the while making snarky remarks like "you're so cool and popular and everyone loves you" . I'm not sure what that was about but our tattoos were crooked and not even close to what we asked for. My third stop in my quest for a tattoo shop in Pensacola that doesn't suck brought me here.  I've been tattooed by some of the best in San Diego, so I have very high standards when it comes to tattoo shops, and Hula Moon did not disappoint.This is probably the best shop in Pensacola.  The customer service is great, the atmosphere kicks ass, and the artists are talented.  I've never been tattooed here but after seeing some of the portfolios I'd say that these guys are probably the best around.  While not as good as the artists I'm used to, these guys are very good and I'd recommend this shop if you absolutely have to get a tattoo while you're in Pensacola. I've known Gabe since 2001, when I got tattooed by him at the first Hell City convention.  We've hung out at conventions ever since, but I just recently went to visit him in P'cola for the first time. I've been rocking Hula Moon shirts forever, so it was rad to finally see the shop. Gabe is a badass, there is no doubt about that. I've gotten 12 hours worth of work from him under my belt so far.  He always has the funniest business cards. Like "In the moooooood for rad tats? Call Gabe" and it has a picture of a cow on it.
