Bunch of a-holes. I came in to get a tat fixed that I was very unhappy with and they were rude from the start and put in so little effort into helping me out that I felt completely ripped off. I trusted them to help improve my tat significantly and they charged my 1k to do so, and they barely did any work. Jon Black sucks and he is not a very pleasant person, in fact he is a egotistical artist that isnt even that good. He runs on money and I dont appreciate artists like that because its about the art at the end of the day. I called them later on to see if they can do a brand new tat from me and they were, yet again, rude and tried to charge me another 1k when I got quotes for $400 at most. I went to empire tattoo next door and it was so much better and the people are actually nice and want to treat you like a client. Overall, very disappointed and bad experience. The owner is the most amazing caring woman I have met and her team is truly the best. Jean tattooed my grandfathers p40 Warhawk ww2 plane and my moms 1959 Corvette, his attention to detail makes him my favorite artist. Big G did my grandmothers rosary and he made it very realistic and the best rosary I’ve seen in person or online. And Jon put the coolest forest of trees around my wrist. Came in for a consultation with a general idea and both Billy and Irina welcomed me into the shop with a drive to produce long lasting artwork. Irina specializes in realistic color work and sketched a custom design using a modern software to modify as we came up with ideas together. Irina has such a fast and light tough that my ribs were tatted with insane color and depth detail within 5 hours. Overall the entire piece was like it was copied and pasted from the sketch if not better! Highly recommend Miami Tattoo Company for anyone seeking amazing artwork. Other artists in the shop have their own specialty, and truly have the talent to make a general idea into a breath taking masterpiece. After all do you want a great tattoo or a phenomenal one? I only gave this review two stars because the place was well-decorated and clean, and it looked like there really were some great artists in there. But that's where the positives of my experience ended.First of all, I made an appointment for a Friday and had to change it because of a work conflict. When I called, the woman who answered sounded absolutely clueless, and when I explained I wanted a consultation, not a full tattoo on the day I wanted to go in, she put her manager on the phone. He was condescending and proceeded to inform me that consultations aren't "in and out" and I need to make the appropriate amount of time. All of this I knew, I was just explaining that I didn't need a 3-hour time block, which is what she was trying to schedule. But I'm a pushover, so I rescheduled anyway and went the next week. When I got in, the shop was empty except for the tattoo artists, which I found a bit odd. I met up with my artist who had obviously not been told any of the details I had provided over the phone when I made my appointment. Instead of drawing anything out for me, even a rough sketch, he photoshopped a photo onto a picture of my thigh and added some other photos as background, so I really couldn't tell what it would look like translated to ink. He had earphones in the entire time and when I asked to see his previous work, he gave me an Instagram handle, not a portfolio. With just a photoshopped picture in mind, he gave me an hour quote, and called the boss over for a price quote. The boss said that he would need more hours than he told me (Excuse me? Shouldn't the artist know how much time HE takes???) and then gave me an unsettling price.This was not me wanting to be cheap and not pay enough for a tattoo, this price was an absolute SCAM. They were taking advantage of the fact that I'm young, it was my first tattoo, and it was just me and my mom (who had her tats covered up that day). We left upset because we wasted so much time driving to Miami Beach.I got my tattoo done for 1/6 of the price and in half the time (for a larger tattoo) by an amazing artist. The quality is beautiful and my artist was attentive. I'm only saying all of this because if I had been alone without a tattooed family to tell me what to expect in pricing, I might have thought they were fair, but they weren't. Guillermo Sanchez made my ( 9 hour portrait ) Tatoo and he is very professional , detailed and have a lot of patience. Not cheap but you pay for his great work and why save some hundreds of dollars for a poor job and you will regret it rest of your life. unfortunately I had an allergic reaction so I had to get it touched up. I can not blaim him or Miami Tatoo for anything . They took ownership right away and Guillermo used another 4 hours with no extra cost but I gave him a good tip because he deserves it. Somehow my skin is pretty resistent to ink and it faded very fast so I went there one more time and once again there was no problem with helping and taking ownership. Guillermo used another 3.5 hours and no cost besides the another good amount of tip I gave him .This time he made my tatoo darker so it is adjusted to my type of skin My experience is that they have been there for me when I needed them and they want it to succeed for me , for themself and their brand. That is how you get loyal clients that will come again and again . DON'T GO HERE!!! Dishonest, money hungry scam shop. I asked them for a cover-up tattoo. I had an outline that i hated of flowers that look cartoony. I wanted realistic flowers put over them. They asked how much i could afford. I said max $1500. When i showed up at the shop the day of, they charged me $1500. Wierd....... The artist never showed me a drawing and then just colored in flowers that i had and made the outline darker!! WTF?! I even stopped him halfway thro...ugh and told him what he was doing isn't what i wanted. He told me that "what i wanted was hard." I know! That's why im here and paid $1500! I emailed the manager for a bit after this, furious and explaining that id like a partial refund, because it's not what i asked for and its not even close to the quality of the tattoo artists portfolio. He agreed, then later on said that they couldnt refund me. Also, some wasted girls came in while i was there and got tattooed. The shop is very clean , the employees are very friendly and know what they are talking about.I hate needles and have a low pain tolerance but really wanted those piercings done...and let me tell you it was a breeze. I went there on a whim about 3 years ago to have Jean Alvarez tattoo a large piece onto my back and it came out 10x's better than I expected. It was an awesome experience and I can't to get down there to get more. I have stayed in touch with the owner Amor Sierra through the past few years. I've come to find out that she sits on the board of a ...non-profit "Deliver Fund" that is directly involved fighting sex trafficking. The volunteer work she does for them is completely selfless which speaks volumes in it's self. Last week I contacted the GM Billy Gerardi about doing a memorial piece for a friend of mine who is a former Navy SEAL that recently lost his brother in the fight against terrorism who was also a SEAL from Team 6. When I explained to Billy the situation and who the tattoo was for they cleared the entire schedule for him, put him in contact with one of their top artists, and had the piece done for him on the house in honor of his brother. You just don't see many businesses out there much anymore that give back to the men and women who risk it all for our country. I really can not recommend this shop enough. There are a number of great artists in the area, but we chose Miami Tattoo primarily because they know how to take care of their customers! Prior to our arrival, email communication was prompt and informative. Their shop is very clean and comfortable. Prices are very reasonable for the high quality of work they do. Got my first tattoo with Jean and I'm beyond happy with how it turned out! He is very kind, patient, professional, and extremely talented. We came up with the design together and he made it even more beautiful and elegant than I could imagine. I am a 54 year old conservative guy.... no tattoos... till now. I had an idea many years ago for my own design with my life message but never did anything about it till I met Amor. Our paths crossed, and we both have helped sex trafficking victims, so I figured the next time I was in Miami I would take the plunge and go through with it as if I was to do this I wanted her shop to do it. AWESOME EXPERIENCE I sketched my idea, Guillermo was patient and kind as he created and modified it a zilllion times on his computer. When I finally approved it he got to work. Great place in many senses, cordial, well light place, cool people, great artist work here. The place is smack right in the middle of Miami Beach heart in the same block as the Miami Beach Police department. Public parking is a block away. Reasonable prices. My first time going to MTC was in 2014, and I absolutely fell in love. Nick was only 21 years old and extremely talented. Here I am in 2017 on vacation from Afghanistan, Billy made my reservation process easy knowing I only had one day in town. Not only did I receive 2 tattoos, Billy managed to squeeze my wife in with another artist. I've never been to a shop with so many different talented artists. They all have their specialities and Billy knows exactly who can do what, the best. They are extremely professional,but definitely fun to be around. I recommend this shop to ANYONE. What an amazing tattoo studio. When my husband said he wanted to get a tattoo done in Miami, he had in mind he wanted to do the whole Miami ink idea, but after a lot of searching and checking up on tattoo artists from their profiles, my gut told me to go with Miami Tattoo and co. So so happy I went on that gut feeling because both our tattoos are Amazing!! After emailing back and fourth with Billy the general manager we managed to get the husbands appointment down with Guill...ermo Sanchez and I with Jean Alvarez both outstanding artists that went with the ideas we wanted, then added their own touch. Guillermo was so patient whenever the tattooing got to much (7 hours non stop in two sittings would do that) The studio is extremely clean, I was shown each time Jean started my tattoo opening new equipment he was away to use on me. I love this studio, I was relaxed and made to feel at home (if that makes sense?) here. It is expensive but no more than what I expected, if you want a piece of art permanently tattooed on your body you pay for the artists and the equipment... you want the best, here you get the best. The after care we were recommended worked amazing and both our tattoos healed perfectly, if I had any questions I was able to drop Billy a message and he would be able to answer all my questions no matter how silly they were. I came with a friend to get his FIRST tattoo. He was visiting from NY and had been wanting a tattoo for a while. We chose this place on a Sunday night around 8pm based solely on their excellent YELP reviews. It was a bonus they were open till 10pm on a Sunday which isn't too common in Miami. When we arrived to Miami Tattoo, everything the reviews said were true. The staff was friendly, the place was very clean, and aesthetically pleasing. First of all, I wonder how this place had only 8 reviews so far, most of them very good though which I'm not surprised. If I had only taken into account the amount of reviews I would have gone somewhere else; I'm glad I didn't.My husband was about to get his first tattoo done, so we really wanted to find a very good place. We visited two other before arriving to Miami Tattoo Co. {one of them being the 'famous one' a couple of blocks away which I thought was not nice or clean at all...and they offered the tattoo we wanted done by any artist...Which I personally don't agree. Every artist has his/ her style and you should look for one that does what you're looking for}.Having said that, we were lucky enough to meet Jon Mateu, a brilliant artist who understood perfectly what my husband wanted and performed as expected and more.Not only the staff is very nice but the place itself is very nice AND clean AND professional.I highly recommend it. Very pleasant and friendly staff. What I can say is that my tattoo came out perfectly BUT I FEEL GYPED. I came to get a tattoo with my friend who is moving back overseas. Initial the tattoo was only suppose to be $100. After my friend was finished and I was dead set on getting my tat the price magically jumped $20. Might I add the tattoo is no bigger than your average Bluetooth. I appreciate the service and professionalism but I don't like being tried like that, it's not cool. This has got to be the cleanest tattoo shop I've seen in a while.  Some shops may look clean but they just have a dingy feel to them.  This is not the case for the Miami Tattoo Co.  This was my second time here. I came here 2 years ago to get my nipple pierced and my experience was nothing shy of amazing.  My piercing artis (yes I claim her as mine) is Jane.  She is known as Gentle Jane.  She is very gentle, she knows all there is to know about piercing any part of your body.  She answered all 10,000 of my questions.  This time around I got my nose pierced.  I had it done in college and the pain hurt like hell.  I ended up taking the piercing out b/c I came home and back then my parents would have had a cow if I came home with a nose ring.  I decided I wanted it again so when I booked my trip to Miami I knew Jane would do it for me.  I went to the shop with no appointment and she was able to pierce me as soon as I walked in.    She explained everything she would be doing, step-by-step.  She showed me the tools she would be using and what each one was for.  The piercing hurt a little as my nose is a little thick but once it was in it didn't hurt and the pain was nowhere near as bad as I remembered from college.  The price for the piercing was around the range I thought it would be.  I was thinking it would cost me $60-$65 and it was $70.  Some people are under the assumption that getting pierced in a city like Miami is costly but it is about the same as the average in any other city.Long story short. . .if you are in Miami and considering getting pierced and thinking about going to The Miami Tattoo Company, ask for Jane!!! Let me start by saying that this review is directly linked to Felecia W.'s review of First Class Tattoo, located just across the street.  Learned yesterday, that this and First Class have the same, eceptional owner.  If you read Felecia W.'s review, you will understand how I ended up at Miami Tattoo Co.  Both shops are impeccably clean, spacious, well kept, clean, nicely designed--did I mention CLEAN???  Anyhow, after Michelle (the rock star she is) from First Class helped me out, I ended up in Colby's chair at Miami Tattoo.  It was just a touch-up and to go over some UV ink that I was worried would eventually fade.  Colby, like Michelle, Ivan and Mickey, was a consummate professional.  She examined my new ink to make sure I was healed enough to get some touch-up work done.  She picked out awesome, identical colors to blend with the ink I already had.  This was the first time a woman put a tattoo needle to my body--WOW, what a soft touch!!!  Getting ink on the ribs is no fun thing, but Colby did an amazing job.  She also took special care to notice that the portion of my skin that had blue ink did not take that particular color very well and she did an impeccable job of ensuring that she went over this area as gently as possible.  More than anything, I loved that Colby was so willing to help out her fellow artists and that she was happy to do so! A new tattoo in a new town. Is there anything scarier? Hmmm, maybe being the cameraman for the inevitable Rush Limbaugh-Sarah Palin sex tape. But I digress....MTC is clean, clean, clean, with all new equipment and a very well appointed waiting area. There are partitions for the different tattoo booths but they are not at all enclosed so be prepared for that. I have gotten two tattoos from this place now and overall all I am really happy with them. Mickey did both, and I highly recommend him. He is relaxed and easy to work with and takes your creative input well. This place is pricey, but so is every place on Miami Beach. If you want a cheap tattoo, looks elsewhere (like your buddy Larry who learned the trade in prison, got mostly cleaned up, and now works out of his van......down by the river). Big Tip!             So you will talk with the receptionist/greeter/boss lady at the front first, then she will take you to meet your artist. He will say give me a few minutes to draw something up/sketch something out/whatever and then you will talk about the price of the piece with the boss lady. She will quote a price that will be really high. Don't take it. Act like you don't have the money, then suggest something much lower. Like half as much, then she will counter a little higher, and you will counter a little lower. You get the idea. But a little haggling will go a long way, so don't be afraid to go there.
