I went to Monster Monkey Studios, Merritt Island, FL for two reasons. First, my veterinarian recommended Tattoo Artist Rayne Lynn at Monster Monkey Studios. Second, I had a very poor experience at Old Ghost Tattoo, Melbourne, FL. On February 15, 2019, around 10:30 am, I called Monster Monkey Studios. Someone picked up right away. I told them my veterinarian had recommended Rayne, and asked if she was available to do a tattoo today. He said, "I don't know, but let me get her for you." Rayne said I could come in for a consultation, but they were booked out until April. I said I was hoping to get a tattoo today, but would come in for the consultation. The first thing I noticed when I stepped into Monster Monkey Studios was how clean it smelled, like someone had just disinfected the place. That was a good thing to me. The next thing I noticed was the layout. Small but open, private, and professional. There was a waiting area with chairs, a couch, display cabinets, counter, and several walled off rooms, each with tiny windows. Two tattoo artists were in the middle of a discussion and had not noticed me come in. They also had a customer in each of their chairs. One of the artists (Bosco) happened to look up from his customer and noticed me. He apologized for not seeing me there. Rayne then stepped out of her area. I explained why I was there. She said, "Are you the one who called and wanted something today?" I said yes, and showed her the photo of the tattoo I wanted. She asked me if I wouldn't mind if she checked with another artist (Will Winford) who was in the back, to see if he was available. She took the photo and came back within seconds. She said he could do the tattoo right now. Will came out and asked me where I wanted the tattoo, how big, what direction, if there was anything I wanted done differently from what was in the photo. He said he needed to make a drawing of the tattoo and would be back shortly. When he came back with the drawing he explained why I might want to consider a different size and position. After we discussed my options, he told me the cost, gave me some papers to fill out, and took a copy of my driver's license. Prior to starting my tattoo, he said, "I am going to let you feel what it will be like before I begin..." he asked if I was ready. The little zap wasn't bad, and I appreciated him doing the test run. The tattoo was complete in less than 45 minutes. My tattoo came out better than expected, and is unique, thanks to Will's added artistic touches. Thank you to Will for doing a fantastic job, Rayne for talking to Will, and Bosco for noticing my arrival and talking with me until Will was ready. Read Less
