Based on personal recommendations, on February 13, 2019, I stopped by Old Ghost Tattoo, Melbourne, FL. This would be my first tattoo, and I wanted to go to someone who was known for doing well detailed tattoos.  Paul's name came up as the person with those skills.  When I entered Old Ghost Tattoo, I saw a man leaning against a counter towards the back.  No one else was there.  I stood near the door for a few seconds and waited for him to say something.  He didn't say a word but just stared at me.  I headed back to where he was, explaining why I stopped by.  I asked a few questions and told him the name of the person who recommended Old Ghost Tattoo and they had told me to ask for Paul.  He didn't seem interested and just said, "I'm Paul".  I showed him a picture of the tattoo I wanted.   He said he could do it but there was a minimum charge of $100.00 for a tattoo.  I said that was fine and started explaining where I wanted it, etc.  He seemed bored.  He showed me his station and portfolio.  The only time he perked up was when he asked how soon I wanted the tattoo because he had just had a cancellation for Friday at 10:00 am.  When I asked if he had anything for the following week, he made an agitated face and said I'll have to check.  When he came back with his calendar book he said he was booked and started rattling off dates and times.  I felt pressured.  He closed his calendar.  I asked him if he wanted to keep the picture of the tattoo.  He said, "I don't need it until you pick a date".  He pushed the picture towards me.  Against my better judgement, I said I would take the Friday appointment.  I asked what was next.  He said he would do a drawing of the tattoo and text it to me in the next day or two.  On Thursday, late afternoon, I called Paul because I had not received anything from him.  No one picked up the phone.  I left a message stating I called because I had not received anything from Paul and I wanted to confirm my appointment.  I added if Paul was not available maybe Gavin could call me back.  No one called back.  Giving Paul the benefit of the doubt, I arrived at Old Ghost Tattoo around 9:45 am.  The door was locked.  I waited until 10:15 am and left.  I wondered why Paul bothered booking the appointment if he didn't really want to do the tattoo.  After my experience, I checked the on-line reviews for Old Ghost Tattoo.  I noticed others were disenchanted with the place, especially because of a certain tattoo artist.  Based on their descriptions, I wonder if that artist wasn't Paul.  Luckily I had the name of another tattoo place - Monster Monkey Studios, Merritt Island.   They turned out to be FANTASTIC.  Will Winford did an excellent job!  Thank you Will and Monster Monkey Studios. Not going to name names but spoke to an artist who showed very little interest in what I wanted to do. "Not artsy enough" Really dude?? This is going on my body... I could want a unicorn farting on a pinwheel... My money, my body... Dude was rude and will never see my business or anyone else I know if I can help it. Read Less
